Question: Who needs a qualified ,dependable ,warehouse associate in the DFW area? I was just hired(so I thought),onto a job through a staffing agency, the pay was great however the employees were like jealous or something,I came in to that job APPRECIATIVE!!Being that I've been unemployed for way to long, not by choice mind you.I don't have any kids or anything not even a bank account it's been real rocky for me my whole life and the only thing I need is an opportunity for me to show my WORK EXPERIENCE!I'm really not a talker I DO RESPECT EVERYONE NO MATTER GENDER OR CREED.But I do LIKE to work(sounds crazy right?)however the people always end up taking me the wrong way.Judging me because I;m not smiling all the time. I can do the work assigned to me in very orderly fashion. It's like the Willie Lynch Syndrome in the warehouse industry.I was just let go of because of that.I really just want to work!!
Answer: Check out Summit Electric Supply in North Dallas (near Harry Hines, I believe), or in Ft. Worth. I haven't been to these locations but in my location there are a lot of quiet people working. The normal progression is warehouse to counter sales to inside sales (it's a distributor), though, so you should pretend to be interested in sales or warehouse operations, whichever offers the better opportunities. If you jump and show initiative I think that would be more important than being buddies with everybody.
Good luck.
Question: how would an inventory associate handle dicrepencies in a warehouse, distribution center.? What are the steps that you would handle a warehouse inventory discrepincies when recieving product on the dock?
Answer: The DC should have procedures set up for that and the receiver should be trained in the procedures. Among other things, the discrepancy should be noted on the receiving documents and the document signed by the deliver driver and the receiver.
Question: My husband has a warehouse test for Toyota parts Center warehouse. Anyone know what the test consist's of?? He has a premployment test for a warehouse associate position. He has been working In the warehouse enviroment for about 4 years now. We were just wondering what the test consist's of and what types of questions are on it. The test Is about 70 minutes long or so. Thanxs!
Answer: HUH??? I think most of it would be on safety. Companies are worried about paying for injuries. Also it would probably have some parts regarding math and can he recognize different addresses.
Question: Where do I start researching to convert a warehouse to residential space? I live in Baltimore and am interested in converting a vacant warehouse or industrial space into an individual residence. I'm not finding too much when I search online and I would like to read about the process and associated costs before I start making phone calls. Help?
Answer: First stop is the Zoning ordinance to make sure it would be an allowed use, based on where it is located. If not you may require a variance, which you should obtain before proceeding too far (since you may be denied). There may be other permits required, such as site plan approval (parking, landscaping requirements) - though probably not if it is just a single residence. There are probably a lot of building code issues that will need to be met with a major renovation (as this would be). The Contractor should handle this, but be aware thart it may be a can of worms.
Also, I would consult an environmental professional regarding investigation into any hazardous waste which may exist. You don't want to own that (unless you already own it).
Question: how do i apply to wal-mart distribution center in henderson nc for warehouse associates not on the web site? i seen the job in the job finder and it gave the web site wal-mart/careers.com but it not coming up to the one i need i have been trying for a couple of hours now
Answer: It's wal-mart.com/careers
You can go directly to the D.C. and apply there on the hiring kisosk as well.
Question: I have an associate's degree in business. I want an entry level job. How do i get it? I want to create a good resume. I worked as a cashier at a gas station from August 05' to November'05. I had to quit to go back to college. In August of 2006, i got a job as a warehouse associate again, i left in October 2006 again to go back to school. In2007 April i got a crappyjob at Burger king and AGAIN, i left in oct. 2007 to go back to school. I have so many gaps in my employment. Can someone help me crtae my Resume. I need an entry level type business Job. Thank you.
Answer: Well...their not really gaps because you were attending school. You should apply at a car dealership as a receptionist because you have cashiering experience. You will be greeting guests and taking payments from them...and other light office duties. Then after about 6 months or a year, you can apply for a receptionist job at an office and then move up the ladder. Good luck!
Question: Is it right that I am being forced from my job so that A less qualified pregnant woman can have it easy? I work at a coal mine in Illinois, and though I have been doing a steady rate of work for the past 3 years, I am being pushed out of my job as a warehouse associate so that a former underground worker can have my job.
The problem I have is that she knows nothing of how to do my job. I am being moved to an outdoor processing plant position that I have no knowledge of, or training in. Isnt it illegal to push someone out of one position and then immediately give that position to someone else for no reason?
Oh another thing (this may be the reason for my forceful move) she is currently 8 months pregnant, and (from what I have been told) very good friends with my immediate boss.
Answer: Nope, in most jobs, you are not hired to do a specific job.
You were hired to work for the company.
As long as your pay rate wasn't cut and you get the same pay rate that others doing the new job get.
You have no RIGHT to a certain position within the company.
The company is aloowed to move employees around to fit the needs of the company.
Question: What should I expect as a Wal-Mart Overnight Maintenance associate? I'm starting tomorrow night as an overnight maintenance worker.
What should I expect from this job? E.I. using the floor buffer; cleaning spills
Do the managers/supervisors yell at you if you don't do things right?
Is there a lot of pressure to learn fast?
Do they treat you fairly?
I just want to know because from my experience at warehouses, the supervisors and managers were cruel. I wouldn't learn things right away.
It caused me a lot of stress.
Thanks!
Answer: Well, I personally don't know about how you'll be treated at Wal Mart, but I will say that you'll have it made there. I did overnight janitorial work at Kmart for several months, and I cleaned the entire store ALONE...bathrooms, deli area, fitting rooms, dust mopping, scrubbing and buffing all the floors, emptying all the trash, and washing the store windows. I used to get so jealous when I'd go to Wal Mart for something in the morning after work, and I'd see a whole TEAM of maintenance workers doing the store. One person mops, someone follows the mop guy with a scrubber, and someone with a buffer follows the scrubber guy. And someone totally different does other areas such as the bathrooms and the windows. Lucky!
You'll do fine...and the floor scrubbers and buffers are easy once you use them a few times. When using the buffer, remember never to stand in one place for more than a second while it's running...otherwise, it'll leave black circular burns in the floor...and that makes managers mad.
It was always the bathrooms that freaked me out...
Good luck with your new job.
Question: Does anyone know how the Job Interview for DSW Shoe Warehouse is? I was wondering what kinds of questions they ask on the Job Interview for a Sales Associate? I'm really nervous, but if anyone can help that would be great. Thank you
Answer: When I interviewed for a job at DSW they only asked me about three questions. the questions they ask you may be a little different than what they asked me, but who knows! They asked me what I thought about shoes, why I would make a great addition to DSW and then they told me to "sell them" a shoe! When you try and sell them the shoe give them a lot of features about it and then what you could wear with the shoe!
It was very easy and I got hired on the spot! You'll definiately to well! Confidence is key! I hope you get hired!
Question: When should I take maternity leave? I am 33 weeks pregnant. I have two toddlers, ages 3 & 4. I work full time as a warehouse associate. Needless to say but I am exhausted and don't know how much more I can take. I was wondering if some how I could start my short term disability the last 5 weeks of my pregnancy. Do I ask the doctor? How do I go about this?
Answer: I would first ask your employer. Some employers only allowe 6 weeks of maternity time (8 if it's a csection)
i would think you would want a lot of time possible at home with the baby.
i would work until I couldn't anymore, so then I have more of that time with my child.
