Question: Moving from AZ to Alberta . I've had a AZ driver's license for 1 year. Can I exchange it to Alberta license?
I have no speeding tickets, DUIs etc.
Answer: Yes, you can. In fact, you are required to, within a certain number of days after moving (probably 90, but it varies by state/province).
Question: how much tip should I give to a cab driver in Phoenix, AZ? Hello, I'm from Europe and I have no idea about the tips for the cab drivers in the US.
Could you please tell me how much I have to give?
And how can I tell the guy that I want to leave him the tip?
What can I say:
"you can add .... dollars for the tip"
or what else can I say?
What do you say usually to make him understand that you want to add several dollars for the tip?
Answer: You tip about 15% of the fare. When you pay the driver, give him that much more than the fare and simply say, "Thanks, keep the change" and he will know you intend it to be a tip.
This means you need to be able to do the math in your hear or carry a calculator, and that you'll need to carry small bills so you'll be able to make the right change.
Question: finding a job as an az driver? HI my dad has had his az license for about 4 years now. He also took a refresher course last month. My question is what company should he apply for if he has no prior experience. It is a hard job to get into and basically he's just looking for someone to give him a chance. Any help would be appreciated
Answer: Are you talking about a commercial driver? If you are talking about something like a messanger or driving a 2 axel car then I would recommend applying for something online like Monster.com. Places like UPS are gearing up for the holidays.. right now is a great time to get his foot in the door.
Question: If my driver's license is suspended in AZ can I go to another state and get a license issued to me? I was told that TX does not use the same computer database as other states so I could get a license issued to me there. Anyone know any truth to that or have any suggestions?
Answer: Well, I live in Texas and have a direct answer.
I have a client that moved here from AZ and had a suspended DL. He went to TXDPS (our drivers license bureau) and got a Texas DL. About two weeks AFTER he got his license, he got a letter in the mail that DPS was suspending his TX DL because his AZ DL was suspended.
He had to go through the motions of getting his AZ DL reinstated, and then TX let him have his TX DL back.....but made him file an SR22 in Texas!
We may be a little slow sometimes but we're eventually going to straighten you out! Our electronic verification data base will start up around 02/01/2008!
Why is your AZ license suspended? Why not just get is fixed? Can you get an occupational license in AZ??
Good luck and I hope this helps!
Question: I got a ticket for driving with no DL and I showed the officer my Az driver license? I am homeless & was stoped because of my left headlight, when I was asked for my drivers license, I showed the officer my Az driver license; he wrote me a ticket for driving without a license then told me I had to get a Ca license, my question is how can I get one with no mailing address? I know some states hand it to you but Ca mails them to you.
I've talked with the Post Office and was told that I have to have a street address in order to get a Post Office box.
Thank you John S. I have and was told that the Federal Government requires it.
Answer: This is somewhat confusing. It isn't illegal to drive a vehicle in California
with an Arizona license, unless you've been a resident there for a given time. If you haven't established a residence and/or address, you can't be a resident, therefore I see no violation.
I suspect that California as well as most states require a valid address in order to issue driver's licenses.
Question: Is an international driver's license " good enough" in AZ or do I need to get a state? Hey guys
- I have read that in some states the international driver's license will do but in others an European citizen will have to take a state one! Does this apply for Arizona?
- I have also heard that the American driver's license tests are far easier than the Scandinavian ones but since this would mean that I would have to study for the written and practical exam (I have never used automatic transmission before) I would just like to be warned :)
Cheers, LJ
Answer: I think Steven is confused about the issue of *illegal* immigrants...permanent legal residents (of any nationality) can obtain an Arizona driver's license. In fact, you are required to do so within (I think) three months of moving here.
That said, you don't say what your situation is. If you're traveling here on a visa, that may change the rules and/or requirements for getting an Arizona license.
As for the driver's test here...it's a complete joke. Very easy to pass.
Question: I am wondering if there are any golf courses in Scottsdale, AZ now hiring for a beverage cart driver? I have been looking but have not found any job openings for this position in or around this city, I need this job asap.
Answer: No, Troon and the other courses are only hiring kitchen help like dishwashers since the crackdown on illegal. You could later switch to the beverage cart if you are a good employee..
Question: Is the age to receive a driver's license in AZ 16 or 18? Recently my world history teacher told the class that if you were born in 1994 or after you have to be 18 for a license. Of what I thought I knew was that the age was 16 still, but there were more qualifications, curfew, and only 1 teen passenger at a time. I am thoroughly confused could some one please clear this up for me?
Thank you in advance for everybody that tries to honestly answer.
P.S. what do you find better, Palm Pre, Iphone, or Android?
Answer: It is 16 still as far as I know but the laws did change as you mentioned.
Question: AZ MVD says I have a record in CA. How can I check my record, what can I do 2 resolve the issue? I applied 4 AZ drivers license and they gave me a printout stating that I have a CA record. When I lived in CA, I had my car impounded and never went 2 court. About a year later, I was arrested, did some jail time and was released by the judge. I want 2 know what can I do 2 resolve any fines, or whatever it is, so that I can get my license!
Answer: Since you know what incidents they are referring to this should be a fairly easy process. Contact the clerk of court in the county where the offense(s) occurred. Provide them with your name, date of the offense (if you know) and any other details they request and ask what the current disposition of the case(s) is/are. They will then be able to tell you what steps must be taken to clear the matters. Once these issues have been cleared you should be set to get your AZ license, assuming your CA license is not in a suspended state at that point in time.
Question: dos AZ driver license change orientation after age 21?
Answer: Yes. Licenses are laid out vertically if obtain by someone under 21. Once you turn 21, any replacements will be laid out horizontally. The DMV will not send you a new license when you turn 21, and while you're no required to replace it, you'll probably want to. You can order a replacement on the Service Arizona website for $4. If you want to update your picture, you'll have to go wait in line at the DMV.
Question: Does My Husband Have to Get A New Driver's License? I am the military member and my husband is a civilian. We were stationed in Arizona for the past 3 years and he has an AZ driver's license that doesn't expire for another 40 years or so. We are getting ready to move Colorado next month. I know that typically he would have to get a CO driver's license, but if he is going to be working from our home in CO for the same company in AZ, does he have to get a new driver's license?
Looking for someone with military or legal experience to answer. Thank you!
No, not a typo. AZ issues driver licenses until you are 65 years. You have to renew the picture every 12 years though.
Answer: Try the CO DMV.

Question: What are my options when it come to getting my Canadian AZ drivers licence? Im looking to get it the cheapest way possible, in the shortest amount of time.
Answer: go to the DOT
Question: Can a person get a driver's license in a different state when that person's license is suspended? My friend's CA driver's license got suspended. He wants to get an AZ driver's license. Can it be done?
Answer: Not legally, not until he clears up his suspension in California(either re-instates his CA license or the suspension is cleared/expired). States should check it but they don't always. And even if he gets a "valid" Arizona license, if they discover his CA license is suspended he will get into trouble.
I also believe that Arizona checks the status of previous DL's, so your friend would have a hard time getting an AZ DL.
The best thing would be for your friend to contact his local/nearest CA DMV, or call the CA DMV and see what he has to do to reinstate his license or clear the suspension.
Question: Anyone know if I can take a VA driver school for a speeding ticket? I had a AZ drivers license when I recieved a speeding ticket in VA. I then went to DMV and got a VA lisence since living in the are for over 60 days. Anyone know if I can take the VA driving school course to get my points down and insurance down? Thanks.
Answer: Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you don’t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!
Question: is the az drivers permit test a multiple choice test, or is there more to it? i just took a simple practice quiz, and it was all multiple choice and true or false.. is the actual test like that?
Answer: Should be the same as the practice test just different questions
Question: Will getting an AZ State Issued Driver's License with Motorcycle endorsement Void my TX Driver's License? It may be a silly question to ask, and I honestly don't know. Also, I'm a college student that wants to maintain TX residency-will getting an AZ state driver's license make me an AZ resident? I plan on getting a motorcycle out here, but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot either by doing something stupid and affect my financial aid and scholarships or what-have-you.
So from what I hear:
Get motorcycle endorsement in TX.
Buy motorcycle in TX.
Get insured and license plates in TX.
That sound like a good plan of action? or am I missing anything?
Answer: I was just trying to figure out the same thing not so long ago, except my question dealt with Missouri and Minnesota. Here's the long and short of it, from what I've been able to gather:
1. You should look at Arizona's definition of "residency." If it's anything like Minnesota's, it's very vague, and subjective. If this is the case, you can probably get an AZ license without compromising your official Texas residency, etc.
2. Here's where it gets dicey though: states often balk at giving vehicle registration to out-of-state license holders, (like, having an AZ license, but Texas plates, or vice versa) and insurers don't like that either. For these reasons, you'd be much better off to just stick with your Texas license. If you're "just going to school in AZ" it's easy to claim official Texas residency. On the other hand, it's a lot harder, according to most states' subjective guidelines, when you're living in AZ most of the year, and not only that, but now have AZ drivers' license, plates, insurance, and maybe even a job. And that might mess with your scholarships big-time.
3. I've heard of people having more than one drivers' license, but it's definitely frowned upon, and may be illegal. When it happens, it's usually an accident. The older of the two is probably technically invalid. Anyway, you might be able to get away with it, but is it really worth chancing, particularly in today's sensitive climate, where everybody's concerned about things like voter fraud, false identities/terrorism, etc. IMO, as handy as it might be, it's not worth the risk.
4. So, for what it's worth, what I ended up doing is simply going back to Missouri, getting my motorcycle endorsement there, (I took the course in MN and they accepted it ---MSF courses are the same throughout the US so they're pretty interchangeable) and registering the bike there. That was much easier than it would have been to switch my license over, switch the insurance over, etc. Once somebody is out of school, those things happen kind of naturally, when they get settled in someplace, but in the meantime, it's normal, and best, to keep your residency where it is.
Sorry for the long reply, I just understand how frustrating that situation can be, so I thought I'd tell you what I know :)
