Question: What is the best Aerospace University in the world? I have searched for the best Aerospace university in the world, but did not find the best. I would like to know what the best Aerospace university is, and it location.

Answer: Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the US. In the UK...The University of Manchester has clinched the title of the University of the Year in the Sunday Times University Guide 2006.

Question: What is the difference between aeronautical and aerospace engineering in the UK? Hi, I was wondering about my future career options and I'm intrigued by this branch of engineering. But I'm not sure what i should choose, aeronautical or aerospace. Especially as UCAS lists both of these and entry requirements and qualifications seem to exactly the same. But I would like to know what the difference really is and its affect in the UK universities and further careers options like jobs. Also if someone can give me course details or websites that explain more would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Answer: The titles suggest that aeronautical engineering deals with flight through the atmosphere, whereas aerospace would include flight through space above the atmosphere. Aeronautical engineering should be great for careers designing airplanes. Aerospace engineering would be great for dealing with the International Space Station or rockets to the moon, solar system, or outer space.

Question: What is a good resource for finding Aerospace Engineering jobs? My boyfriend is looking for a job in VA. He has a masters in Aerospace Engineering and is looking to go private. We are having a difficult time searching for jobs on the internet. It is not your basic job search. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Answer: 1.) School career fair. 2.) Study current topics in aerospace magazines. They will always name several companies. Look into those companies, and you will find out who they subcontract to. By the time you exhaust a few of these leads, you will have 30 or so potential companies, of which at least 10 will probably be hiring. 3.) The obvious choices: Boeing Lockheed Martin Northrub Grumman Honeywell Raytheon All of these have masters level jobs posted all over the country. If you are looking only in Virginia, obviously your choices may be more limited. If you boyfriend has a master's but no experience, he may need to be willing to accept an entry level position. However, he will probably still recieve a higher starting offer, and will probably advance more quickly.

Question: What are the working environments of chemical/aerospace engineers? I'm interested in aerospace and chemical engineering. What environments do they work under? Is it closer to a desk job or is it a more outdoor stuff? Thanks!

Answer: On works in an office next to an oil refinery, the other works in an office near an airport.

Question: What are some other engineering majors in the aerospace industry besides aerospace engineering? I am more into Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering but I am being told that there is not much of a demand for it and that the demand is decreasing rapidly. Can anyone suggest another, well paid, demanded, engineering major in the aerospace industry like avionics technician etc..???

Answer: Aerospace Engineering is a highly specialized form of Mechanical Engineering. You might be better off pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, as it is a much broader field with a much better job outlook. Also consider Materials Science/Engineering or EE.

Question: How is the aerospace engineering world or just the engineering world in general? I have recently been accepted to Penn State University Park into the college on engineering. I want to focus on aerospace engineering because i am very interested in airplanes and would love to work for airbus or Boeing one day. however i am not quite sure that it has to offer and how engineers think of there career. does PSU have any prestige in the engineering world?

Answer: I hope my answer will help on both questions. If you choose to select your degree focus on "what's hot" or what has available jobs you will end up disappointed for two reasons. First, you won't be pursuing your passions. Second, what is hot now may not be hot in four or five years when you're looking for your first job. Similarly, once you have you degree, your work experience and work ethic will speak more highly than where you got your degree. Certainly you want to choose a good program for your focus, but don't let that limit how good you feel about your education. Your education is based mainly on two things that may not be related to your university of choice. First, what effort are you planning to put forth? Second, who are your professors? These will more dramatically affect your education than any "brand name" school ever will. If you want to work for Airbus or Boeing, give them a call now. Maybe talk to someone in HR and get a recommendation on the types of degrees they are looking for (Bachelors, Masters) and what type of disciplines they hire most (aerospace, mechanical, electrical, etc.) Then ask if they have a favorite school they recruit from. Then, hang up, call back, ask to speak with a manager in the engineering department. Ask similar questions of the manager, surely they know what they are looking for. Next idea, call (or go in to) the Penn engineering department, find out which alumni are working for Airbus and Boeing type companies and give those guys a call or an email. Former students from Penn are going to be a wealth of knowledge about industry and about courses and about professors. You'll quickly learn who you need to take classes from, even if you aren't interested in the subject. Congratulations on being accepted to college, pursue your passion, stick with it even when it gets tough. Don't choose your career based on trends or projected trends, just do what you love. By the way, if you are looking into aerospace, you should also think about learning to fly. If it's has ever been a dream, just get it done. Forget spending your money on a car or over priced vacation, save your money and get a pilot's license. You'll get a lot farther in the industry if you're already on "the team". Begin looking soon for summer internships for next summer (after your freshman year). You'll want to start 6 months ahead if possible. You may or may not get paid, but you could be getting some of the best industry experience at a time when you may not have many financial commitments.

So, I just want to know if there is a corse where it includes all IT, bussiness and aerospace engineering or anything to do with telecommunications.

Question: Any Aerospace / Mechanical Engineers who can answer my question? Hi all, Im currently in my second year of college and im planning to persue Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. Aerospace is something I love very much, being a flight instructor I decided to further my career and have more career options. My question is about the math involved. Do I really need to be a math genious in order to persue this field of engineering? Reason I ask is because im already in my 3rd math class since Jan 2007, just started calculus, yes, the dreaded mini terms and they throw it at us so fast. Sometimes I really feel as if I understand the math very well and other times I study for hours and never really get a hold on what it is that im trying to learn. How will this affect me? I really want to understand the math better but sometimes I just dont get it and sometimes I do. I'll stop at nothing to persue my career even if I have to repeat a math class somewhere down the road. Any suggestion or advice for me as I persue my dreams and career?

Answer: my dad is one and has been one for 30 yrs... he is horrible at math and never used much besides simple math

Answer: You get to work on Planes, Rockets, Missles, jet engines, electronics, exotic metals, exotic structures and all of this is constrained by Weight and cost. These are both the simplest and toughest problems to solve. Rocket Science really isnt hard, but it is expensive and you will work your axxx off trying to make it cheaper, faster and more powerfull. As a result you will learn more than your counterparts in other industries, because they just have to crank out thier sxxxx fast and usually not too well. wer

Question: Would getting a doctorate in Aerospace engineering be enough to become an astronaut? If I were to get a doctorate in Aerospace Engineering, would that be enough to become an astronaut? Now, I am not counting all the medical exams and stuff. If not, what else would you need if you did not want to go into the test pilot, air force, and that type of stuff?

Answer: A degree in Aerospace engineering will do you no good in becoming an astronaut. If you want to build spaceships, it'd be great. If you want to fly them? You're looking at a career in the air force!

Question: What is the best accredited Aerospace College or University, that has Aerospace coures, and where is it? I'm a junior in high school looking for a good College or University. I want to become an Astronaut, or an Aerospace Engineer. Does anyone have any advice on any accredited college or university that has Aerospace couses. Answer: If you want the top notch schools...MIT and calitech are there....then if your bright and have good performance you can start off with Purdue university, Virginia Tech, University of Michigan, and Georgia Tech....also Embry Riddle University at Daytona beach is pretty good

Question: Does anyone have information on an Aerospace in Fontana CA? My fiance was told by an old friend with the last name Conn(who currently works there) about a place where he can work with airplane/jet engines. Conn said that they train you, and that the place is located in Fontana. He said it was off of Beech Ave and Slover Ave. But he was in such a hurry he didn't give enough info. Can anyone help!?! Answer: Aerospace engineers are expected to have 10 percent growth in employment over the projections decade, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Increases in the number and scope of military aerospace projects likely will generate new jobs. In addition, new technologies expected to be used on commercial aircraft produced during the next decade should spur demand for aerospace engineers. The employment outlook for aerospace engineers appears favorable. The number of degrees granted in aerospace engineering has declined for many years because of a perceived lack of opportunities in this field. Although this trend has reversed, new graduates continue to be needed to replace aerospace engineers who retire or leave the occupation for other reasons. Question: What courses should I take for Aerospace Engineering? To save some money, I am planning to attend a community college for two years before transferring over to Virginia Tech University to get a Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering. I was just wondering what courses I should take in the Community College to meet the requirements of VT's program. Help please?

Answer: Calculus I, II, & III Physics with Calculus I, & II + labs CAD Astronomy + labs I'm not sure what VT's requirements are, but those are all the engineering related classes at the community college I'm at (I'm in 12th grade though). I've taken/taking all those of classes and I'm in h.s. Also take the advanced chemistry classes there + labs (maybe biology too). I recommend that you enroll in the community college's honors program, if they have one.

Question: What college in the midwest is the best to go to for Aerospace Engineering? im just beginning to look at colleges and i want to stay close to home. i already know i want to major in aerospace engineering but i don't know which one is the best. can anyone help me out?

Answer: Purdue University. Ranked number by industry employers in AAE. Nationally, depending on what year you look, we are usually in the top 5. It is a fraction of the cost of MIT or Georgia Tech, but just as good if not better. Right in the middle of Indiana. And the AAE (Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering) School just recently moved to a brand new state of the art building, Armstrong Hall (named after a famous alumni you might have heard of)
