Question: How can I change from lineman to linebacker? I am currently an offensive and defensive lineman in highschool. I would really like to become a middle linebacker. I am 6' and weigh 185. I am probably the fastest lineman, but want some tips to increase my agility. Also, how can I increase my reaction time?
Answer: footwork and speed will be key to success.
work on agility - weaves, run all out short sprints - front, side, back. run tire obstacles.
Question: How to become a better offensive and defensive lineman? I'm 15 weigh 156 and trying to become a better lineman. Problem is I'm the smallest lineman on both D and O line and need some advice on how to get better. Also I got a problem memorizing plays for every position. So can someone give me advice on memorization on the field and how to get bigger and better?
Answer: Stop worrying about getting bigger. Work on speed and technique and learn to hit harder and faster. As for memorization, stop leading with your helmet and you'll remember everything much better. Have you tried mnemonics for memory? That got me through post grad physics. Scary thought huh?
Question: How much money do helicopter lineman make? Lineman that work off a platform from a helicopter and do live line barehand work.
Answer: A helicopter lineman paid $25-$30 per hour depends on the experience.
Question: How do i become a starting d-lineman for my high school team? I'm a freshman d-lineman.I'm 6 feet 195 pounds.I want to start on the defensive line for my sophomore year.I want to get faster, and stronger, and more agile. So any tips that would help me start as a defensive end would be helpful.
Answer: First of all, bulk up. Most D-liners weigh 250+ pounds. I would suggest doing the 40-yard dash for speed, setting higher and higher goals for yourself each time. Also, do some distance running on a treadmill. Lifting weights and punching bags are great ways to improve arm strength. For agility I'd work a lot on stretches (As in about 10 stretches 50 times each 2 times a day). It seems rigorous but if you're really committed to starting on the d-line you can pull it off.
Question: How can I start as a lineman on varsity? I am a decent offensive lineman and I started my sophmore year on JV, I'm going into my jounior year and have a decent chance of starting, but I play in a very good conference (3 state titles, and one semifinalist) and would probably be the smallest lineman at 5' 6'' 165. I don't put muscle on very easily at all, and I'm wondering if there's anything i can do to improve my chances of starting on offense or defense.
Answer: Steroids, and lots of em.
or move to a skill position if you have speed, whichever.
Day D is a troll. Rivals, Scout.com and Espn.com say he doesn't have a scholarship, and he blocked me when I called him on it. TROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
Question: What stats do people look at to select a pro bowl offensieve lineman? How do they know which ones are good and stuff? I know if you have a 1000 rusher on your team someone on your o-lineman is most likely to get in, but what else?
Answer: Unfortunetally most teams don't publish offensive line stats, but most teams do take stats for offensive lineman off of game film.
Most teams carry a blocking percentage for the players, there is also a stat for knockdowns, and sacks allowed. Blocking percentage is judged by if you made your block you get a plus, if you didn't do what your supposed to its a minus.
Truly just watching them play is typically the biggest judge for Pro Bowl voters. Voters will look for who is good maintaining blocks, gaining leverage, can keep up with speed rushers, can move people, and flatten linebackers...there is a lot that can be told in the game tape.
Question: How much should a 14 year old lineman bench and squat? I have been lifting the past weeks and I would like to know what should a 14 year old lineman bench press and squat? When you bench/squat do they add the bar's weight into your total amount?
I'm about 174 what should I be lifting?
I mean 174 pounds.
Answer: 100 lbs.
Question: What do I need to become a better defensive lineman? I am 16 years old, I stand at about 5'8, and i weight 220 lbs. I play varsity football, and i am a defensive linemen. I'm short for my position, but i am pretty quick and strong. I am starting this season, but i want to be able to defeat that 6 foot offensive lineman out on the field when i go against him, and my height leaves me at a disadvantage. Anyone with any advice?
Answer: Keep tapping away on the key board to ask all the questions you have on here instead of being out practicing.
Question: How do i become a good lineman? I'm a freshman, 5'11 and 195 pounds.I wanna be the best lineman.Any tips on how to get faster and stronger would be good.
Answer: You're already pretty big for a freshman. Keep putting on weight (but good weight...don't just eat a bunch of twinkies). Eat a lot of protein. And work out, but specifically bench and incline. Those are the muscles you use when blocking/colliding with the other linemen.
And if you're a defensive lineman, try to gain some speed to help you get back there. Consistent wind sprints will help, but not to the point where you kill your legs.
Question: How do you become a power lineman in San Diego? I am an apprentice at local 569 but they don't offer lineman apprenticeships. So I'm wondering if anyone knows how I would go about it.
Answer: this link will give you some info on the local that will cover the lineman that you are interested in.

Question: How can i become a better offensive/defensive lineman? Right now I am a sophomore. This year I started on varsity at DT and LG. My junior year im switching to Center. I lift all the time. My bench is 260. Im 250 pounds. What can I do to become a better lineman? What can I do to get faster? My 40 is only a 5.3.

Question: what do i do to go from a offensive lineman to a titend or a runningback? I am going into my softmore year in highschool and have bean approached frequently about playing football for the school. The last time i played football i was manely an offensive lineman, i was never happy with the position and this year i want to be more like a running back or a tite end. My question is how do i lose the fat and gain muscle, and also learn the skills needed for the positions.
Answer: Its summer time, so what u gotta do is wake up every morning around 7am and go run, its too hot during the day so run in the morning and at night
during the day if you wanna be a tight end i'd play basketball, i played basketball all through high school and it really does help if your gonna be a tight end or wide receiver, makes you learn how to react to the ball in the air, and helps your hand eye coordination. If your just jumping into the sport again go with tight end. If your a sophomore they already got running backs who have been playing for years, lots of depth man, you can make it at tight end, just work your ass off for real
Question: How can i be a better offensive lineman? I am a very inexperienced offensive lineman, i never played football untill i tried out for the football team my freshman year which i made, i started at defensive tackle strictly because i could hit, i finally got the form down but then the next year they put me at offensive line, a whole different position i had to learn, my aggressiveness and run blocking ability got me a spot on varsity in 10th grade, i am very undersized i weigh about 200 pounds, i lean alot when i block but since i am undersized its hard to get my back straight and move people off the ball, what lifts or tricks can i do to move those big boys/fast athletic lineman off the ball this year?
Answer: get pissed off when you oppose a defensive lineman. anger is an amazing tool for motivation. you think ray lewis plays sedated and relaxed I dont think so. being a lineman is all about footwork you got to get your feet under you but im sure youll get it man good luck.
Question: how much does he reduce the friction force compared to when the only force acting on the lineman is his weight? For a defensive lineman in football, a good technique is to push up on the opposing offensive lineman which reduces the amount of friction between the offensive lineman's feet and the ground, thereby making him easier to move. If a defensive lineman pushes up at an angle of 23 degrees from the horizontal with a force of 387 N, on a 177 kg offensive lineman. \The coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.35.
Answer: You have Professor Gross don't you!
Question: Why not give the Heisman to an offensive lineman? Right now theres no one good enough to get the Heisman.
Why not just give it to a good offensive lineman who gives 100% on every play, they never get any credit.
The entire O-line for Arkansas should win the Heisman, their Qb has only been sacked 6 times, and they help running backs lead the nation in rushing.
Answer: its just that their position isnt as glamorous as a rb, qb, wr
