Question: How does optimistic character helps to a software tester? As a software tester he usually has to think negative, thn how can be he optimistic?
Answer: As a base suggestion without any other information?
Be optimistic too you (just above your boss) but definitivly truthful to the boss directly over you. Try to walk them through the phases of what ever problem it is that you have exposed, and hopefully they will be able to bring to bat your opinions with their superiors.
I know it hardly ever works this well or this way, but its really your best bet. Making sure that your boss knows your being honest and straight with him, while letting him keep up his honor(saving face) often will do the trick in keeping you in his corner pocket. (bad pool reference.)
Question: How to become a software tester? & qualifications required? I have a HND in Information System (2001) afterwards I started my own business in transport sector. Last year it was bankrupt. Now I would like to be a Software tester. Can any of you advise me about the quickest path to become a tester (I don’t mind how hard it is).
Answer: You would need some some of computer/it degree. You could look into Computer Science or Information Technology. You might be qualified enough with an Associates degree. At most places you will need some programming knowledge to write test scripts.
Question: How to become a Quality Assuance Software Tester? I was thinking becoming a Quality Assurance Software Tester. Now what is the path to get there? Do I need to go to school? Or can I just self -taugh myself for that? I am 45 so that will be ideal for me as I am not very good at programming. Thank you.
Answer: If you mean a beta tester then no you don't need any schooling but experience is best if you want a job like this. Note.... testers make just above minimum wage in most cases.
Question: How do you become a QA Software tester? I was thinking becoming a Quality Assurance Software Tester. Now what is the path to get there? Do I need to go to school? Or can I just self -taugh myself for that? I am 45 so that will be ideal for me as I am not very good at programming. Thank you.
Answer: If you've gone to school, then you have enough school to become a QA tester.
You need to know how to use a computer. You need to have a least basic ideas about how stuff works (keyboard, mouse, and computer programs)
You need know know about the different kinds of tests like regression testing, GUI testing, bounds tests, negative testing, database testing, and whatever else kind of testing they will do at the company.
There are two worlds on testing right now....manual and automated. Manual testing is just going through a web site/program and finding bugs. Automated testing is using programs like Mecury WinRunner to test an application. This requires some programming skill, which is specific to WinRunner.
You can be self taught, but you need to improve your programming if you want to make money otherwise you'll be a low paid QA person.
I'd look at newhorizons for training if I were you. It'll cost you money, but in the long run it's an investment.
Question: Software tester job - stepping stone to being a programmer? I have a software degree and want to get into programming. Most programming jobs are looking for 2yrs experience in programming, but i have 2yrs exp in tech support.
Would getting a software tester job first be a good stepping stone between tech support and programming? They dont seem to require as much experience, so im more hopeful of being able to get a job.
Answer: No, s/w testing is entirely different from programming. If u have tech. exp. then go thru that. But if u like to go with programming, be efficient in any 2 or 3 languages tat r currently using in companies.I think this may be a good idea.
Think urself positively and work on..
Good luck

Question: What are the requirements of a software tester? I am planning to pursue a career in software testing. I want your advice on what tools to study for a bright future in that line and if its ok that I dont have any computer background but I am a computer literate. Is there any software or language that i have to equip myself with to shine as a QA analyst.
Answer: You're going to need at least a basic knowledge of computer programming. Because you will need to write unit test and regression test algorithms to check the software is doing what it is supposed to do.
A nice starter for 10 is Visual Basic. Check MSDN for more info.
Question: What steps should I take to transition from a software tester to a software developer? I have a few years of testing experience and I'd like to become a developer.
Would I be able to apply for a developer position with only testing experience and Computer Science degree? Any tips on how to position myself or adjust my resume would be great.
I'm going to be taking some programming classes, but I'm not sure if they will help. Do I need to have work experience in development in order to be considered a candidate for a developer job?
Thanks.
Answer: I am tempted to say that you are actually ahead of the curve because of your testing experience. Most developers start out not knowing that they will be mostly testing. You also have a CS degree, which is a good thing. You also said you will be taking programming classes, which is great. What helped me out was I got resume help from many IT staffing agencies. What also helped me out was my website that I created as an online portfolio for my projects - including school projects, but this was before linkedin.com, which I recommend for your networking needs. And believe it or not, the last thing that helped me out was learning from failed interviews. You WILL be asked technical questions about your role, and since you already have experience in testing, it will help you a bit. Getting your foot in the door, in this economy, is difficult. Just be patient and something will come around. If nothing does come around, however, there is nothing stopping you from printing out your own business cards and just getting small side projects for yourself. Thats what I planned on doing when I got laid off, but I was able to land some short and long term contracts.
Take care.
Question: How good is a career in Google as a software tester.?keeping in view i want to make a switch to development? Do I have a good chance of shifting to the development field if I join as a tester in Google a few months down the line.I need advice. And please give me answers if you are sure of switch among the respective fields i.e. from testing to development.
Answer: Working in Google as a tester may be a good place to start off.
But, I am sceptical whether you will ever get to become a developer, not just in Google, but in any software house unless they are seriously short of developers. But in most cases, good testers are in short supply.
I would advise you to stick to various types of testing and extend your skills to build and configuration management.
Question: What are the minimum qualification to becaome a software tester? I am commerce student. I don't know mathamatics well,
I don't know any programing lenguage. Now i am working as data analyst. now I want to lern testing tools.
Give me you valuble sugestion!
Answer: I don't know if I'd want you as a software tester when you can't seem to test the Check Spelling button before submitting this poorly written question.
