Question: Should i go for oracle developer prior to oracle DBA ? I am student of computer science engg. I want join a training in Oracle . I am confused on fact that whether i should join developer program prior to Dba . Also pls suggest any good institute in Chandigarh or Ludhiana?

Question: can u install oracle 10G and oracle sql developer on the same computer ? does oracle 10 G function the same as oracle developer? wondering!

Answer: Yes, but you have to have a lot of memory and hard drive space. Oracle SQL Developer makes it easy to work with Oracle 10G. To me, Oracle SQL Developer is like a wizard - a really easy way to use Oracle. I really like it. I started using it back when it was in Beta and I was using Oracle 9i. At home I was using 10G. I have not used them in a while though.

Question: Will oracle apps training alone suffice a plsql developer 2+yrs without relevant experience in apps? I'm an Oracle plsql developer with 2+ years experience; also completed OCA. I would like to become Oracle Apps Technical consultant and I thought of going for some good training. I'm little bit confused that will any company accept me for Oracle Apps Tech job after training, having only sql-plsql background?

Answer: That depends on the requirements of the specific job. I've worked in IT for nearly 15 years, in just about ever part (sysadmin, network admin, management, developer, cable-puller, etc), and I find that specific job requirements can vary widely from job to job. People with any Oracle experience are going to fetch attention and a somewhat-premium salary because the knowledge requirements are so high. I would take the training, but don't worry about it getting in the way of landing a job later on...you already have the requisite Oracle experience for many jobs. You're probably worked with a variety of oracle and third-party tools, and writing pl/sql scripts is an excellend skill to have. I'm sure an employer would look at the background and see the training as a way to advance your knowledge of your specialty. I work for a contracting firm that provides all kinds of training opportunities, because they know you might need additional skills in new assignments. They don't see training as related to "lack of experience," they see it as broadening your knowledge and horizons. Stay on your path. You're going in the right direction.

Question: which is easier to do, to be an oracle developer or an oracle administrator? I am considering one of them? I just want to do oracle, and learn it well, but do not want to overwhelm myself and fail. so which do you think is more interesting and worthwhile. Thanks in advance for answer.

Answer: Neither would be easier because they have their own unique demands. The Developer has the benefit over admin in that you don't have to deal with other people's issues day in and day out, under the gun to figure out problems and resolve them.

Question: how to change screen resolution in oracle developer in runtime? My monitor screen resoluion is 1024 x 768 .I want to chage my monitor screen resolution into 800 x 600 oracle developer forms 6i in runtime.

Answer: it is impossible to change the resolution of oracle forms in the run time the only way to that is to open all the forms with the developer ina machine with the 800 x 600 resolution and compile and make them again. u can use also oracle project builder for this task.

Answer: I can not understand that up to what level you want to know . Anyway now I just give the top-view only.You use the term ORACLE , but we can generalized the concept into MS-SQL, IBM DB2 , SYBASE etc. DBA means database administrator ,who can work with three different schemes , such as physical schema , logical schema etc along with some sub schemes also.Mainly,a database administrator (DBA) is a person who is responsible for the environmental aspects of a database .They provide different view levels, enable different options on a database.Their work mainly for, data recoverability ,data security, data integrity, availability, performance, physical block distribution and so on. In general, ORACLE developer means the person who provide a database with some software to handle the database in a good logical environment .In corporate world, DBA means who work for a database physically and logically, they create an E-R diagram, normalized the system ,provide the ACID rule , create log based or shadow page based recoverability with mutex lock , views and so on depending upon the demands.But a developer creates various tables, views ,softwares to fetch and store the data various logical supports etc using ODBC, JDBC, SQL command etc.But they never handle the database in physical level.So, a developer can never be a dba , but a dba can be.
