Question: Can I get a ArcView map layer with roads, distances and travel times to use in ArcView Network Analyst? I need to find a source of road map layers with distance and travel time attributes. I've just obtained ArcView 9.1 and a 60 day trial of Network Analyst. There are tutorials but no explanation of what data is necessary to analyze drive times.
Answer: You can check with your local county engineering office. They may or may not be willing to loan you this information.
Question: What do you think of Deion Sanders as a NFL Network Analyst? On today's NFL Network broadcast he stated that if he had his pick of any QB to start a franchise and if he had to pick a QB to win one game he would pick Michael Vick. Was Vick's confiscated particulate from Deion stash, because Deion is clearly smoking something? I understand that "the best" is subjective, but usually there are some facts to back it. As an analyst, what exactly is Deion analyizing?
Answer: I'd pick Vick too, just because he can run if he gets in trouble. But Mora was really holding him back, and that is why he hasnt been as good, watch Vick next year w/o Mora
Question: Which bachelors degree would I have to get in order to become a network planning analyst? I would like to know which degree I will need to get in order to be a network planning analyst in the future and what are the exact duties of being one. If you are a network planning analyst give me a brief description of your life please! I know this may take a large chunk of your day but I honestly think that I am cut out for this job and I want to see if anyone can prove me otherwise. I cannot thank you enough for any information!
Answer: Get a BS in Computer Science or Information Systems avoid MIS as that is more business oriented.
Plus get a cert from either Cisco or look at CISSP
https://www.isc2.org/cgi-bin/index.cgi
Information assurance and security are the newest trends.
Look at SOX act and HIPPA
Question: Can a felon get a Job as a Network Analyst ? I'm 23 just got two years probation for having a gun in IL, I didn't shoot it or shoot anyone,But I was thinking about going to school for Computer Information Systems and I want to know if its possible for me to get hired as a network analyst and start a new career?
Answer: It will depend on the company. The problem is with a CIS degree and position is you have access to the company's most valuable data which implies a lot of trust.
As far as choices it is a good career and has been good for me. I have a CIS degree.
Best wishes for getting your act together...
Question: I just interviewed for a network analyst position and they only offered me 35k for entry level ? IS THAT FAIR? i dont have any experience so i guess they r willing to train me. i went on salary.com and the avg salary 4 a network analyst in my state is 69k. what should i do? since i have no exp what should i do? do i have any bargaining power with no exp?
my last job paid me 35k. he told me this job pays 35-45k with my background. he told me this cuz i asked him how much does this position pay with my background-entry level of course..
I LIVE IN ILLINOIS
Answer: Yes, the pay is a fair wage when you consider these facts.
First of all, you have no experience and they are willing to train you. That means that for the first few weeks, they will not get much work out of you, plus have to pay someone to train you. And, like another person stated, the wages are based upon someone that is fully trained and has been in that field for a while.
I often wonder where Salary.com comes up with those wages. From what I've seen, those websites show inflated wages. Possibly they may reflect someone who has been at an employer for a while and had some raises, but not for entry level.
So, while you may have made 35K on the previous job, realize that this is the starting wage here. Consider yourself lucky that they are willing to pay that for someone who will need training.
EDIT: That is their initial offer. Of course they are not going to offer a full amount. Counter offer for a little over your target salary, but don't go too hire, or they will bypass you for a person who wants a lower salary. (I should know, I was the runner up for a job and the person who was given the job offer refused the wages and they instead gave me the job).
Question: Why is it important for a network analyst to understand management's business needs and perspectives?
Answer: Because, in all likelihood, they hire you to make it possible for them and their other employees to be able to productively work with the business's data, as opposed to playing games or looking for porn.

Question: Network Intelligence Analyst Apprentice? I've just been offered this AFSC (job) with the Air Force and i want to know what it's like to work in network....
What’s life like for a Network Analyst?
What are your tasks?
What’s the best perk about your job and less?
Oh yeah, did any of you guys serve the Air Force and gained your training there?
Answer: The title sounds fuzzy. Two different jobs wrapped up into one title. A Network Analyst is much different than an Intelligence Analyst.
Was an Intel Analyst with Army for 5 years. Liked it a lot, but ultimately wasn't for me. Lot of research, writing, power point, analyzing, briefing (public speaking). 12 hour days in front of a computer.
Air Force is much more laid back; definitely stick with that service.
If you're a Network Analyst - you're gonna hate life. Your job is to keep the internet working for Officers and Senior NCOs that barely know how to turn a computer on. Always screwing stuff up, blaming you and then expecting you to fix it in 1/4 of the time needed to fix the problem.
But then you'll get out of the Air Force in 4 years and be able to walk-in to an annual salary of $80,000 or more. Maybe even $100,000+ if you get your degree while you're in (you can with guaranteed 100% tuition assistance) and if it's intelligence you'll get a security clearance, which can be worth over $100,000 (because that's what the government will pay for a background check) to a company hiring for a position that requires a clearance (who would you hire? someone a little less qualified but already has a clearance or spend the 100K yourself and hire someone without one?)
Question: Route to becoming an Network Analyst? If I want to become an Network Analyst, is it to my advantage to take the A+ or Net+ certification just for general knowledge? Also, for folks that are familiar with Cisco Certifications, which is an entry level cert?...CCENT OR CCNA?
Answer: visit this link http://www.certifydumps.com/cisco.htm and you can find all the information about cisco exams and comptia exams all study material available on this website you can also download some study material samples as well.
Best of Luck !
Question: Is a position as a junior network analyst.........? a good way to get into the IT field along with an associate degree in Networking and work my way up? If so, how can I land a junior network analyst job? (Entry Level)
Answer: Yes. But a better startegy would be to get a tech support job and work on your Bachelor's. While in tech support you counld also get network experience. If you do not have a Bachelor degree you will be limited in the jobs you can apply for. I am a hiring manager and recently I screened 89 applicants for a net specialist job. A Bachelor degree was required and more than half the applicants did not have that degree level.
Question: Which degree is required for a job as a network analyst?
Answer: Something with a technical background would be preferred, like electrical or computer engineering, or computer science. However you don't always need a degree in the area in order to get the job. One of my former coworkers has a Ph.D in biology but was one of the lead software developers. Another coworker had a masters in Psychology, but was using Perl to test functions in the UI. So as you can see, your educational background doesn't always lead to a career in that area.
Question: What is the difference between network administrator and help desk analyst?
Answer: a network admin is someone who works as a support for technical computer-related problems in a company. a help desk analyst basically works in a call center, who tries to answer inane questions from some schmuck who does not know what he/she is doing.
Question: if you got a job as a web developer, computer network specialist, or programming analyst? or a web developer, would there be a brinks armored truck type way of transporting the money or is there another way the funds are made or dispersed?
in other words, when you have a job that pays over $50,000 a year, then how exactly is the money being transported. this may not be a smart question because of what it entails. however, i'm just trying to figure out if when you make that kind of money, it is transported by armored trucks, specifically if you are in a computer science related field.
Answer: It is transported via banks. Checks or direct deposit. Cash will never move through the building where you work. You are also paid something like every week or every other week, not 50,000 all at once.
Question: What is the job of a network administrator,a systems analyst and a computer and information system manager ?
Answer: Network Admistrators/Managers primary role is to manage the connectivity of the LAN/WAN or other network system as a whole, to include encryption and connectivity of point-to-point circuits interconnecting the systems.
A Systems Analyst generally analyzes the system for improvement in efficiency, even when these improvements mean make no changes or change other systems not related to the computer systems.
An information System Manager or MIS generally is a person trained both in software/hardware as well as management and merges the fields together to manage an IT/IS team.
Question: I have one year experience as a network analyst, will someone hire me in the it field for 1 year? I worked as a technical coordinator as a project for 3 months and 1 year and 2 months as a network analyst. i lost my network analyst job just recently for reporting sexual harassment by a guy who sexually assaulted me on a sunday when no one was in th ebuilding. do i have any chance with this small amount of experience or has this evil pervert destroyed any chance at a career in IT. Im currently taking classes in ccna-working towards certification, and hopefully my ccnp someday.
I am a female and have been unjustly discriminated by many male coworkers that hate females.
Answer: I don't see how you could lose a job by reporting sexual harrassment. Did you quit ?
Question: Network engineer = Computer/IT Analyst/Network Consultant?? Is there anybody here that is a network engineer or in IT/consulting? I"m wondering if there are differences between network engineers and IT analyst/network consulting jobs.
I've been trying to find some network engineer jobs w/o a lot of experience needed...basically a company willing to train but most require around 5+ years. i already have BS and MS EE degrees but i don't have any certifications. Is there another job title for someone trying to become a network engineer? how did you/would you go about getting a job as a network engineer?
Answer: I have had the titles of "network engineer", "systems engineer" and "network architect" and there is much overlap with these titles along with that of "network consultant". I'd suggest looking for job ads with any of these titles, or combinations, like "network engineering architect".
While having your BS and MS in EE goes a very long way, certifications do count for quite a lot. Hopefully in your EE studies you took in a networking class or two. But with the amount of technical studying you have done for your degrees, you could likely study for and pass a handful of certifications in short order such as Cisco's CCNA and CCDA, and the Network+ for network administration, etc. These are more entry level "associate" type certs. Go for professional level certifications if time permits, for example Cisco's CCNP and CCDP very popular and highly respected. More time and multiple exams, but worth it.
Depending on the employer, certifications can mean more than degrees. As wrong as I think this is (an MS EE is far more work and more impressive than a CCNP) this is the reality and it was my own personal experience as well. A former employer gave me decent bonus money for completing CCNP and CCDP for example, and did absolutely nothing for me after I finished my MS in computer science.
If every "network engineer" job you're finding requires that 5+ years experience and you don't have that, consider a more (temporary) entry level position such as a "network analyst" type of position in a company's network operations group or on a network help desk. It would just be a foot in the door, settle in for a year while you gain experience, take in a training class or two, and get a couple certifications, and you'll be promoted or transferred into the "network engineer" title soon enough. Good luck.
Question: What do i need to major in to be a Network Systems and Data Communications Analyst?
Answer: Work on getting your certifications above all else. A college degree alone does not put you ahead of the playing field. Then contact your student advisor at the college of your choice for class suggestions.
