Question: Business Intelligence? How do i search business intelligence company...?
and Non BI companies......?
any criteriya or any pdf link
give some example of Business Intelligence Company and Non Business Intelligence Company???
Answer: are you certified in Business Intelligence? there are exams out there that do that and it would be good for the resume. check out the link. good luck to you.
Question: What are the various technical documentation written by Business Intelligence Analyst? what are the technical documentation written by Business Intelligence Analyst and who uses these documents , what are the bases for preparing these documents. (BI Tool can be Business Objects.)
Regards.
Answer: The technical documentation is similar to that of any business systems analysis (identifying business objectives, deliverables and measures; documenting workflow). In this case, however, the documents involve requirements for supporting business decisions and not the function of an application. All requirements should be modeled around business process (of course) but also business data perspective. At the core of BI analysis is the perspective of the data which will lead to proper data modelling.
If there is existing BI infrastructure (eg, Data Warehouse established and BI end-user tools identified) then the analysis process is focused on the dataset and latency requirements, etc. If there is no existing infrastructure then it is a whole new ballgame!
Question: How to write requirements for a Report for Business Intelligence? Can you provide a template for creating requirements for a report spec? possible for a business intelligence dashboard or report.
I would appreciate a link to a website or to download a template
Answer: The subject of Business Intelligence is pretty wide. Could you be more specific as to what report you are drawing up?
In the meanwhile sites like these sell them but they're pretty expensive: http://rfp.technology-evaluation.com/sto…
If you have software like Business Intelligence Development Studio you get a template function within it: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libra…
If you are familiar with SAP they have a 6.2 MB download:https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/porta…
The links below may help as well.
Question: What is Business Intelligence and how does it differ from SAP? I want to learn more about Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, what are their toolsets and applications.
I understand that it is a vast area, I just need to get a general understanding of the tools within BI Space and what they are used for. Any sort of information is appreciated.
Answer: One way to think of BI is in contrast to databases. Databases hold data and require fairly deep database skills to derive meaningful information from that data. To make that process easier the category of BI tools came along.
These BI tools typically use visualization methods to allow the analyst to explore the data with the ability to manipulate very large amounts of data in real time. This allows for a much more interactive approach to analyze the data.
Check out the links below for some example of generalized tools in this area.
Question: What are some business rules that can be used in Business Intelligence? I spent hours in the internet looking for an answer for my question, but I could'nt know what are the applications of business rules (BR) in Business intellegence. And what are some business rules that can be used in Business Intelligence
Answer: Business intelligence involves the acquisition of useful information to drive the business, doing appropriate decisions.
Every business has his own rules, “the way the management look at their business”. For example, a manufacturer can look at the business in terms of: products, customers, time periods (dimensions) and looking at costs, revenues, margins (measures). Customers can be segmented, products can be categorised etc. The way the management looks at the business is their idea of business rules.
When thinking a business intelligence project, you must transfer these rules into an information-business model. For example, you will create a hierarchy between products and their categories, and you will also build a cube using a structure like “products X customers X time period X revenue”. Again: usually the time period is “per month”, but you can also find businesses that works “per week” or “per decade”, and consequently you will specify the time period dimension; and if the company sells over the world, you will be asked to express the revenue in terms of different national money (dollars, euros, …) etc.
These are business rules: concepts and ideas about the business that you will transfer from the mind of the management to the business intelligence system.
Question: How can I use Business Intelligence to optimize profit in a pizzeria? I'm looking for ways to use new IT tools in small business to optimize processes and profit. Any suggestions?
Answer: Your efforts would be better spent on learning about marketing.
...and I'm not just talking about advertising. I'm talking about the art and science of making and keeping customers...which is your real purpose.
Optimizing processes: You are looking at it as wanting to optimize profits by reducing wasted time and material...which, sure, you need to keep an eye on that....but your real money is going to be made by structuring your processes so that they make it easier for people to do busines with you, easier to make customers happy, easier for them to feel like they love your establishment.
Employees: Your customer service people are not in the service industry...they are in the "Marketing" industry...and should be trained with that mindset....sure, good service is going to be a part of that...but you'll get so much more out of them its not even funny. If you have an employees who's attitude gives you problems...get rid of them. Every time they touch a customer with their bad attitude, that is one more customer who can influence others for months to come every time they talk about your store and their bad experience. just ONE bad restaurant experience literally costs you a minimum of $500 over a years time, because of dinner sales that went somewhere else down the road.
I would look at letting other businesses know that you will allow them to put coupons for your store on their event promo's. (approved of course) Now, their event traffic becomes your traffic. Don't ever be afraid of giving discounts...you are NOT losing money because you are creating a food sale in a time frame it wouldnt have occured naturally. Incentives get that once a month guy in your store two times per month, and so on.
So, while it is a good practice to observe and adjust your daily business process to reduce waste...it really isn't a good method for increasing profit, because you can ultimately only squeez so much out of it. Increase your ability to make and keep customers. Keep a happy and proficient crew. Do those things and your profits will grow.
Good Luck!
Question: What is the best approach to setting up a business intelligence system without elaborate software? I am looking to set up a system that continuously provides background and data to a portale or dashboard.Something that allows a continuous flow of intelligence on either companiesor competitive products. What systems have people implemented using open source or free tools out there.
Answer: Business intelligence involves collecting quite a bit of information and analyzing it. Many business use tools to achieve this. A few of the data tools are data modeling, data warehouses, and data mining. Data tools help employees collect the data and analyze it efficiently. Data tools are for organizational purposes mostly. Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) is used in the analyzing process. OLAP is sometimes simply referred to as Analytics, which is based on the hypercube or "cube" and dimensional analysis.
Some businesses also use software vendors for BI tools. There are quite a few enterprises offering BI technology. If a business does not get the BI tools themselves, then software vendor will provide a business with tools, and sometimes software support and BI professionals who will help the company analyze results and collect data. Some companies providing BI software are Siebel Systems, Microsoft, Altius Consulting, Business-Soft, and SAS Institute.

Question: How does business objects differ from Cognos business intelligence toolset? I'm not sure how the two are different. Could someone please explain the application of Cognos BI toolset and its functionality VS Business Objects and it's applications and functionality.
Answer: Cognos BI and Business Objects XI are, as the name depicts, business intelligence softwares provided by different vendors, IBM and SAP respectively.
Business Intelligence softwares provide means by which an organization can collect, integrate, analyze and present business data in a more meaningful form. Using this data, organizations make their daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual decisions to keep moving towards the set targets. All BI softwares ensure that this data is presented to the decision makes at all levels within the organization in a timely manner.
Any vendor selling BI solutions would offer tools that allow performance management, enterprise information management, querying, analysis and reporting. So the two products mentioned above wont have much difference.
