Question: wastewater treatment? what is the basic type of wastewater treatment?
Answer: Where waste goes to a WWTP, it gets screened to remove the big pieces (towels, branches, alligators...). Then grit is allowed to settle out and the foam is skimmed. This primary sludge is landfilled. A few old plants stop here and discharge the sewage to a stream. Most plants go on to secondary treatment, allowing bacteria to attack the organic matter. Usually, this involves spraying the sewage onto rocks or pieces of plastic on which the bacteria live. Then the sewage, now lower in biological oxygen demand, is released to a stream. All too few plants have tertiary treatment, designed to reduce the nutrients (P & N) in the sewage before discharge.Sludge from each stage is landfilled; water is discharged to a stream or wetland.
A septic system is usually just secondary treatment for a single building.
Question: How many wastewater treatment facilities are there in Canada? In the US, there are about 16-18,000 wastewater treatment plants. In Canada, if you just go by population ratio, there should be about 1600-1800 (10% of US population). Anybody have real data?
Answer: I live in an area of northern Ontario and we have 8 within 200 sq miles.Pretty much every community has a waste water system of one kind or another and each province has different guide lines as to what is needed for water treatment good luck finding an answer.I would say in the thousands.
Question: What are the pros and cons of building a wastewater treatment plant? working on a presentation for class and i was trying to get some opinions of the pros and cons of building a wastewater treatment plant.
Answer: Pros:
1. It may be necessary to build one to comply with federal, state, and local "clean water" laws
2. It will make the people down-stream from your waste happy if they see clean water, instead of untreated water.
3. It is generally more environmentally friendly to build water treatment plants.
Cons:
1. It costs more capital money to build a waste water plant, then to just dump it in a lake or river.
2. It cost more capital money to build... than to use large cesspools, large septic tanks, large aeration ponds, etc ("natural" cleaning methods).
3. It cost money (on a continuing basis) to *operate* a waste water treatment plant.
.
Question: How much is spent annually on wastewater treatment? Can someone find a source that cites how much ($) is spent anually on wastewater treatment in the United States or in the world.?
Answer: based on the flavor of my water, not enough
Question: What is cost of wastewater treatment for each cubic meter? What is cost of wastewater treatment for each cubic meter? In order to achieve the environmental standards.
Answer: Since process of treatment varies depending on the wastewater, cost of treatment also varies. Rough estimate 10 cent/ gallon is recommended for large units.
Question: what happens to the water after wastewater treatment? what happens to the water after wastewater treatment?
do we use it of agriculture? for growing plants?
Answer: it is left to go into rivers after full treatment
Question: Where can I find a company who manufactures automatic tablet dispensers for wastewater treatment? My company manufactures a solid wastewater treatment and we want to find a device to automatically apply our tablets directly into wastewater applications (wet wells, lift stations, grease pits, etc.). Unfortunately, most of our research has come up empty or the products found would not fit well with out technology. Any ideas where to look or any specific companies manufacture a product like this?
(note: although Norweco makes a fine product, their dispensing mech. does not fit our technology.)
Answer: Try these buyers guides. You might also check who makes the dispensers for pool chlorine. You can see these at pool stores.
Question: how to reduce the heavy metal even go through by the wastewater treatment plant? the waste had run through the wastewater treatment plant but stil find a higher heavy metel in effluent.so what thing cause this situation happen and the method can use to improve the process?
Answer: listen to Guns N' Roses non-stop
Question: Who regulates Wastewater Treatment design codes in california.? I have a homework assignment that I am working on and I need to know the design codes for a wastewater treatment plant in the state of California. I live in Iowa so I have no clue what agency regulates california and am having trouble finding it on google. Does anyone know what agency regulates that in California and if they have a website with those regulations listed.
Answer: Cailifornia is regulated by USEPA Region 9 and California EPA. THe references are given. You may not find the actual design codes on their websites. Much of the code for the structures will be national building codes which are normally just referenced. THese sites will give you the regulations for treatements and permits, but not how to pore concrete.
Question: Is the use of Anaerobic digestion limited to wastewater treatment?why? what if all I have with me is liquid waste, like manure and I try to convert it to energy through AD, that doesn't count as wastewater treatment right? in connection to this, what is biogas? a mere product of it or the ONLY product of it?
Answer: Many installations will use the methane generated by anaerobic digestion as a fuel (biogas).
Others will simply dump it into an atmospheric flare (waste).
Remember, even your body provides gas from anaerobic digestion. It can happen anywhere.
