Answer: I am a artist of this trait and my work dosent come cheap. Its hard work mixed with some thinking about where your going to plant or do what. Landscaping involves a dedication to nature and a talent for preserving nature and making it beutifull. it involves working with the land in alot the same scence a farmer would. You make cirtin types of gardens for certin needs and it involves a good eye for how the person who hier's you wants to see done. take a breath and relax, you can do it if your this interested. Answer: It is amazing how inaccurate the responses people provide: re: pondlady you only need a minimum of an Associates degree in Landscape Architecture to qualify for the educational requirements to take the LARE. re: Christy If what she says is true about competition, all registered landscape architects who owns their own installation company will be out of business. It does happen in the industry, but whether you are a licensed landscape architect or not should not factor in how the installation business runs or profits. Review the requirements for licensure from this website: http://www.latc.ca.gov/ Since you said your boyfriend already have a landscaping business, he should have his business license in place already. You can always make your company name change if you so desired at your State's Corporation Commission.

Question: Landscaping ..What would be the most important feature to add to a small front yard to make it most appealing? I have a small front yard with two large oaks. Other than those two trees, everything else is drab, scraggly and/or eroded away. The yard is mostly on a slope and the soil is washing away down to the sidewalk. Other homes in this neighborhood are attractive and well manicured. I purchased this home a few months ago and am now ready to put about $3,000 dollars into professional landscaping. Question: What are some good landscaping ideas for my garden? Do you know any sites that has good landscaping pictures to get ideas? I have planted 6 fruit trees, and now need to do the landscaping and the ground work to cover the dirt and make it look nice. If i don't cover the dirt, weed keeps growing and dried grass. Answer: Go to bhg.com (Better Homes and Gardens). They have landscaping plans for all types of yards and conditions, along with substitute plants for the ones they list in some of them. They also have a program on their site where you can create your own plan by plugging in the dimensions of your yard and adding plants the size you want to see how it will look. One good way to keep the weeds from coming through is to put down black plastic before you plant. Fasten it down well (we cut about 6" lengths of wire and bend them like staples), cut holes in it where you want your plants, and plant them through it. You can cover it with mulch once you've finished to hide the plastic. The plastic also holds in moisture and heat, so you won't have to water as often.

Question: I am wanting to purchase landscaping lights, but would like to buy some good quality ones. Any advice? I would like to buy landscaping lights that put out some good lighting. I prefer the solar but I have seen them in action and they have very poor lighting. Does anyone know of a good quality landscaping lighting? Thank you for your answers.

Answer: To my way of thinking, low voltage and solar lighting should be called luminous markers, not lights. I've given mine away in favor of 115V exterior PAR floods and spots connected to dimmers, photocells and GFIs. More light and more control. I've used a few CFLs, but make sure you get those that can be dimmed. RScott

Question: Where can I find good landscaping jobs in NC? We are planning on moving to North Carolina, maybe. We arent sure yet. My husband landscapes for a living and we were wondering where the best place to live in North Carolina with a lot of landscaping jobs.

Answer: Check on lawnsite.com and ask on the forum. However, why can't he start his own landscape maintenance business?

Question: how important is landscaping when trying to sell a home? My husband and I are disagreeing about this. One of us says that it's not that important. If we make it great on the inside, they won't care if we have pretty flowers and new mulch. The other one thinks that if the landscaping is not fairly updated (not spectacular, but nice mulch and a few flowers) that people will drive by and not want to come inside. What do you think? Is it that important? Also, are there any sites that tell you how much different improvements that you make to your house will increase it's value?

Answer: I just did a refinance on our house and an appraiser comes and goes over your house to see what the value of your home is for the lender. The only work we have done to our house is the landscaping and the value on our house has gone up 36 thousand dollars in the past two years. He told us that the landscaping gave the house such wonderful curb appeal that this house didn't have before. It doesn't take much to make the front of a home to look well maintained and appealing to the eye. Look around your neighborhood for idea's that would look good on your property. Remember not to go to crazy though because you want a return on your investment. I think if you look on HGTV you might find some info about this subject.

Question: How do I make a career out of Landscaping? Im planning on going into Landscaping. Im 21 years old, I have no experience in landscaping and currently applied to a position I felt intrested in. I like to move around constantly in a job. I want it to be physical, so I though landscaping was a good choice. Is it possible to move up in a lanscaping job? Any advice out there? Thanks!

Answer: You should look at taking a horticulture or landscape design program at a 2 year or community college. While you are doing this get a job with a landscape company, you will make your way up through the company but if you get a horticulture degree it will occur faster.
