Question: What does a "Field service technician" do ? I have an interview for a field service technician position next week .
I have experience as an electronics test technician ..
but never in the field , i am thinking it's pretty similar?
what do you think ?
Answer: You work with customers directly. You go to their locations and perform tasks like these:
1. New installations
2. Repairs and maintenance
3. Problem solving
There could be other things. You should be good with people, a good communicator and be able to travel.
Question: What does a Field Service Technician position entale? IT type
Answer: What kind of field service technician?
Computer?
Heavy construction equipment repair?
Copier repair?
ECT
Question: Can you help me with my interview ( Field Service Technician ) ? I have 2 interviews COMING UP Next Week! . I need one of them because due to some family problems I lost my sales job and my car is going into reposession soon , and my Insurance will be cancelled if i dn't pay Them close to 400 dollars by next week .
One of my Interview is as a Field Technician .
The other is as a Personal Banker at a bank located near my apartment.
Now It's the Field technician Position I am nost scared about because due to fear of losing my car and not having a job I exaggerated on my resume and Wrote the following experiences..
• Read and interpreted mechanical, optical, and electric specifications.
• Achieved exceptional accuracy with using multi-meters, digital oscilloscopes, DVM and function generators
• Achieved promotion within one year to supervise and train team members as necessary
Now ofcource first 2 points are really easy for me since I learned them in my lab at college ( I graduated with electrical and computer engineering degree ) ..
[The job requires for me to travel to peoples houses and fix their stuff -- All i know like it says on my "experience section " is read electric specifications , kno how to use multi meters , oscilloscopes, Function generators and so on .., But I got no clue How much more or how much deeper of an expereience the Employer requires from me , Am i worrying too much ,
I really need this job . ]
But i am really getting tensed now because I really want this job and I am not sure what kind of questions he might ask me when I get to the interview ..
What do you think ?
Answer: I have been an industrial service engineer for 19 years, not quite the same as domestic but similar.
Field techs need to be hands-on, practical people - if you have any hobbies which emphasize those attributes, you might mention them. For example, have you ever fixed up a washing machine or maintained your own car?
If you lack experience, you could counter that by mentioning your ability to absorb technical information quickly from manuals etc'
Good luck with it !
Question: What is your opinion about IT field service tech job? Most of people I encountered in IT field don't seem to want to take a job as a field service technician. If you are in the field or have ever worked as an IT field service technician, what is your opinion and experience?
I think, the bad side is that the customers can tend to be more demanind and can be irate more easy because they're paying hundreds of dollars to have you come over and work on their computers.
The good side may be that it may be more difficult for your boss to get a biased opinion about your personality and your performance because a lot of times you are outside of your vicinity. Also, it may be more difficult for your repuation with the customers to be formed because you are floating. I think it may be better than doing IT customer service in a fixed location such as at one company or at one building. What do you all think?
Answer: Besides the accountants, they are the ones who take all the good business jobs.
Question: What is a field service technician?
Answer: In a very general sense, it's a technician who works out in the field doing service/repairs.
In a practical sense, that could apply to the technicians that install your cable or phone service, any repair person who visits your home/business, or any technician who works outside of the office in the course of daily routine -- that sort of thing.
It's a pretty generic job title used across a lot of different industries.
Question: I'm a field service technician, currently employed my question is would a M.B.A. degree help me?
Answer: its a degree, I don't c y it wouldn't help u
Question: how to start private computer field services work? i m in London and Leicester i want to start computer field services technician on my own, any advice about how to start and where to start.
Answer: First, I hope you have a degree and are qualified to do such work. You can start from home - make b-cards on printer - set up a website (must), get a magnetic sign for car. Then to find clients. #1 problem these days is virus control/cleanup. Set up a mobile business, set a low introductory flat price to come out and clean or scan for virus and spyware. If you do a good job on that, they may admit to other issues. Don't expect them to give a stranger key to the house. Build a reputation - maybe do some freebees for influencial people who can be used as references. NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK. Expect it to take a year or more to get successful. Good luck!
Question: What salary can I expect as a Toshiba Copier Service Technician? I am an aircraft mechanic but my company may be having some layoffs. I saw a job posting for a Copier Service Technician. With some specialized training, I am sure I could do this kind of job. I am trustworthy, can think on my feet, troubleshoot well and handle customers. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the salary in this field.
Thanks, Jimmy
Answer: You can look up this kind of information at http://www.salary.com
You can enter your kind of job, location and experience. You cannot enter "Toshiba", but I would not expect them to be much different than Canon, Konica Minolta, Xerox or anybody else.
Question: Which field has better growth potential? I'm in a dilemma. Just graduated college and have 2 job offers:
-Assistant Project Manager
-Field Service Technician fixing store computer equipment/registers/computers
The field service tech pays a few dollars more. The company for the Assistant project manager job wants to promote that position to an actual project manager within the next year. Just wondering everyone's thoughts? Thanks
The Field Service Tech essentially drives around to the different stores of the company and fixes cash registers and other computer/technological equipment used in the sale of items. I'm not so sure this position could lead to others as I don't know if I would be learning skills to take to a new job.
Answer: need more info on what it is truly about
Question: What are some jobs a person in the Navy Nuclear Field can do after military service? I leave for Basic Training in 11 days and signed my contract for Nuclear Field. I plan on being an ET (electronics technician). I know it will obviously involve nuclear power and probably power plants, but I'm looking for the specific jobs there or possibly research and development jobs I could get into.
Answer: I was a Nuclear Field ET for about 8 years ending in 1989. I served on two submarines as a reactor operator, shutdown reactor operator, maintenance supervisor (mostly an honorary title from a particular Navy school I attended) and an Engineering Watch Supervisor.
Once you complete your Navy training and commitment, there are a number of things that you can jump right into, mostly in the operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants. This is a good time to get into that field because there is a reasonable chance that new plants will be under construction by the time you get out (or be built if you make the Navy a career). You can also work for conventional power plants (with the exception of the power source, most plants are very similar). You might also want to consider getting an engineering degree, then get into the job market. (Warning - this isn't easy, you've really got to put the work in, even with the Navy background). This can open up R&D work, but you'll probably have to get a Masters/Doctorate to really do high-powered stuff.
Alternatively, you could do what I did. Go to college in a completely different direction and make a brand new career out of it.
I wish you the best of luck and I'll give you some free advice for Nuke Power School and beyond. When taking written exams, write everything you can about the subject being asked, even if it isn't directly on the point. Give the grader a feeling that you know something and you might get extra points, even if you don't cover everything expected.
