I am not sure that I would like to stay forever, but work for a couple of years. What would be the best way of going about it?
I am not sure that I would like to stay forever, that is why i need sponsor to help in that
Answer: no only on websites
Question: What is the annual salary for a Geophysicist, and also a Weapons Engineer; both with Bachelor's Degrees? I'm trying to decide which field to go into and i like both areas. so the one with the higher salary will most likely get my attention.
Answer: Mech engineers (weapons or otherwise) start out at roughly $58,000 per year right out of university.
Question: What do Geophysicist need to wear while they work? Clothing? Do they wear a certain type of clothin or anything.
Answer: They are required to wear a propeller beanie at all times.
Question: Could you find part-time work as a geologist/geophysicist in a city? Whether it's lab work or something.
Answer: Lab work is less likely but most cities do use private geological companies for lots of work. ENvironmental work is steadily increasing, despite the economic problems. Water resources and distribution also keeps people gainfully employed so does garbage movement and disposal Road planning, electrical grid placement and expansion, supervision of all types of construction, roads, bridges, buildings, etc, all use geologists, some specialized some not.
Private consulting firms do most of the field work for this, mapping, sample colletion, flow rates and direction, the list is long, often even supervision of work in progress. SO getting part time work in many of these things is possible.
But many of the jobs will be part time by days or weeks, not by hours per day. A specific job will require a short period of full time field work, and a lot of "temporaries" are hired to do it. THe permanent staff usually then takes over and does the office reduction of the field information and run "qquality control" checks of the field work.
IF you have an upper degree in geophysics you have a good chance of working part time in schools and universities, although you may end up slightly out of your field.
If you do have a degreee you should consider starting your own consulting firm and start out by working as a sub contractor on anything you are willing to tackle, hiring whatever expertize you need as you go along (grad students are a good and hungry resource for this sort of thing). It may be a struggle at first but you have a chance to pick a schedule you like. ANd you need to be good at it or at least good enough to recognize and hire people good enough to take over what is beyond your training.

Question: how will a geophysicist be relevant in bridges and dam construction? what is the job or responsibilities of a geophysicist in construction of bridge and in dam site investigation?
Answer: To build a bridge or damn it is v.important to know the geology of an area. There are two ways to do this. Either drill a hole and see what's there (which is very expensive) or you can do a geophysical survey using either seismic, magnetics, GPR, etc. This is far cheaper and can be done in a few weeks (or days if the area is small enough).
I'm a geophysicist so if you need to know more specifics then email me at adwright76@yahoo.co.uk
Question: Does a Geophysicist get good pay in Colorado?
Answer: An entry level Geophysicist in Colorado can make an average annual salary of $70,000
A senior level Geophysicist in Colorado can make an average annual salary of $150,000
Is that good pay to you? maybe, but maybe not.
Question: what are the aspects of nature investigated by geophysicist??
Answer: Geophysicist
A Day in the Life
A geophysicist must have a strong science background, a curious mind, and a fascination with natural phenomena to succeed. Geophysicists measure, examine, and explore the physical properties of earth, from below the ground to the atmosphere, from the depths of the ocean to the tops of volcanoes. Daily duties include studying readouts of measurement equipment, examining natural phenomena (such as tidal waves and electromagnetic fields), and writing reports which correlate the two. Geophysics is an academic field which crosses over into the practical arena in a number of areas. Specialization is significant early on—when applying for jobs—in geophysics. For example, the work a seismologist does—studying seismic readings and trying to predict earthquakes—is like that of the tectnophysicist, who studies the movement of tectonic plates, but very unlike what a volcanologist does, measuring underearth temperatures and examining other readings which might predict the formation or eruption of volcanoes. Some geophysicists work with gravity, others with electronic fields. Most of the work of each of the specialties is done primarily in the lab, with some field work. Geophysicists often have to rush to a spot on the globe to examine an immediate phenomenon; unlike geologists, they do less steady on-site work. Geologists also analyze fairly static systems; geophysicists usually examine systems in flux. Those who succeed in geophysics seem to have the ability to be flexible and the willingness to challenge previously held assumptions if their data proves those assumptions untrue. Successful geophysicists are generally able to encompass the complexities of their profession. Many geophysicists move through a number of areas of specialization in five-year blocks. Initial specialization is important because it leads to five years of learning that particular aspect of the field. Professionals tend to enjoy learning how geological systems interrelate, and they are interested in learning about the systems which interact with the ones they already know. Learning about new specialties often happens gradually and unconsciously. Geophysicists take home the most amount of out-of-work reading of any profession in this book, with the possible exception of editor. The continuous challenge and the perpetual education this occupation encourages seem to be two of the major reasons geophysicists are so satisfied with their work.

Question: what qualifications should i have to find a job as a geophysicist in Perth,Western Australia?
Answer: A geology degree majoring in geophysics.
Question: what do geophysicist do? im doing something for science and i have to draw a geophysicist. before i need to know these things:
what exactly do they do? (brief but imformitive please)
what do they wear?
and some tools they use. thanks!!!
Answer: Geophysicists measure, examine, and explore the physical properties of earth, from below the ground to the atmosphere, from the depths of the ocean to the tops of volcanoes. Daily duties include studying readouts of measurement equipment, examining natural phenomena (such as tidal waves and electromagnetic fields), and writing reports which correlate the two.
Most of the work in some of the specialties is done primarily in the lab, with some field work. Geophysicists often have to rush to a spot on the globe to examine an immediate phenomenon; unlike geologists, they do less steady on-site work. Therefore you would be expected to wear laboratory-type clothing in a lab setting and outdoor-wear, possibly hardhats and steel-toed shoes for field work.
Experience with computers is a requirement and various computer software platforms such as computer modeling, digital mapping, data analysis and geographic information systems (GIS) are used as tools. In fact, most of your time as a Geophysicist will be spent interpreting computer data. Depending on your specialty you may need other tools such as Global Positioning Systems (GPS), or seismic measuring units and so on.
I hope this helps
Question: can i join national geographic ,discovery as a geophysicist?

Question: How much truth is there to the statements many of the astronomers and geophysicists claim? regarding the origin of earth and what is presently happening in the universe. They have shown spectacular videos of the formation of various stars, and galaxies and other heavenly bodies however, were these real? No one seemed to discount what these people were saying. Or were all these simply theoretical.
Answer: Just depends on what area of astronomy you are in. People like Steven Hawking are theorists....people who create off-the-wall theories about how the universe was formed and what goes on inside black holes. These theorists rely on astrophysicists and astronomers to prove these theories to be true.
Question: Question for the geophysicists/geologists: When will the earths core and mantle cool down? The sun generates energy by fusion. As far as I know, the earth does not generate its own energy by using up fuel as the sun does. In which case, the hot core of the earth must surely eventually cool and solidify, leaving the earth without a magnetic field. Is this incorrect, and if not, how long does the earth have?
Answer: the earth generates its own heat by reactivity - its radioactive rocks produce heat, which is why, under gravity, the earth core is hot, and allows for a magnetic field. The earth will continue being warm until all radioactive isotopes have broken down into stable nulcei - depending on the isotope, this will take many billions of years
Question: What Job Should I Choose In The Air Force? Im going to be joining the air force and have my first meps visit in about a week, i already took my asvab and scored a 76 overall and my recruiter told me i can qualify for any job except a geophysicist lol anyways im trying to decide i have 2 in mind so far either civil engineer or security force, is there any jobs you can get an enlistment bonus for? Any job suggestions or experiences would be helpful thanks everyone.
Answer: #1 ask your recruiter which fields have bonuses if that's what your looking for and then pick the one you want.
I spent most of my 20+ years as a Structural Repair Technician (aircraft sheetmetal worker) and enjoyed my work very much. Picking your career field can be a very important factor for you in the future so I would suggest you choose something that you not only like to do but would love to do when your tour is over. Who knows, you might even become a "Lifer" as I did if you loved the AF as I did. "Lifer"... that's what they called us guys that were career AF minded guys that stayed in for 20 or more years.
You mentioned two fields... "Civil Engineer" which could mean almost any of several jobs on a base including grass cutting, road repairing, garbage collector, etc,,, etc..., so I would look into the total types of jobs that might be available in that specific field. "Security" could be anyone of several jobs also. Your in a spot where your recruiter can place you into some jobs that need to be filled and are no picnik so I would be very careful if I were you my friend. Ask the recruiter for detailed job specifics = what duties are in the specific jobs that he's offering you. Know what your getting into before you sign that piece of paper or your going to be one of the crier's for being shoved into a job you didn't want to be in in the first place and your stuck with it my friend. I tell you this because it is a true fact and a young man like yourself is a sucker for a recruiter to sign up a guy that doesn't know Chit from shineola. Find out exactly what a job is before you commit yourself to it on a contract. How do I know this? I spent 7 years as a cook before I was finally given a chance to re-train into another field. The experience was great though and I still love to cook today. lol
I hope my comments truely help you in obtaining a job you'll enjoy and I'm glad you gave me the opportunity to provide them to you.
Good Luck and "God" Bless you.
