Question: forklift operator? i'm interested in obtaining a position as a forklift operator. I would like to know what are the skills that are necessary to qualify for this position?

since most forklifts are used in warehouses, I would say that skills in inventory management would also be helpful.
Question: How can I become a forklift operator in Texas? I want to become a forklift operator here in Texas. But I don't know where to get training etc. I want to be trained before I apply for a job so they won't be hassled with training me and I will have a better chance of getting a job. Can I simply find someone who already operates and ask them to train me or how can I go about getting trained?
Answer: Texas is a big state
Where do you live?
Question: How do I become a Certified Forklift Operator? I live in orlando and i want a job that pays decently. i want to become a forklift operator but i don't know what to do also i would like to train at an institute that would be able to find me a job afterwords. any advise. also i need the institute to be within orlando and it would be nice if someone could tell me the average salary in orlando for a beginning forklift operator.
Answer: Check with equipment rental or sales companies. There are several around Orlando. They should be able to point you in the right direction. There is also a large Publix distribution center near Orlando. They may also be able to help since they use forklift operators. As far as salary is concerned, I would expect you would start somewhere around $8-10/hr. Some of the union employers such as Publix may start people at a little higher salary. Your state employment office may also be able to help you find training and a position. I am sure that they have employers who have listings and should be able to give you an idea of starting wages.
Question: Trying to find a forklift operator training center near Athens, GA? Need someplace that actually teaches you on a forklift, not an online course, and that will certify you as an operator.
Answer: Athens Tech does forklift operator training

Question: Will OSHA investigate a forklift operator who is a danger to other workers because of his failing eyesight? This worker has already had work related accidents because he cannot see well. His employer will not do anything about it, like letting him go, because they are worried about a lawsuit.
Answer: You can fill out an online report to OSHA. You need to see if your state has their own program, since filling out their form will be faster. They may or may not investigate, but only asking will find out. You need to emphasize the danger to the workers.
Question: How do I get a valid forklift operator's permit? I live in Jacksonville, NC and need to know where I can go to get a permit. Also what steps are involved in this process.
Thanks to all who answer.
Answer: The Following Is The Three-Step Process For You To Get Certified:
Formal And Practical Forklift Training
You will go through formal and practical forklift training. You will have the opprotunity to review and download, all forms and documents for you to use immediately. Some of the documents and forms are the following:
Permit to Operate
Power Point presentation required by OSHA
Safety Rules and Regulations
Test
Answers, etc
Employee Evaluation
After the training, your (or your future) employer should evaluate your driving ability on the employer’s forklift. The employer is in essence certifying that the employer has provided the training outlined by OSHA.
Certification
Your employer (or future employer) will certify that you are competent to operate the employer’s forklift and follow all the rules laid down by OSHA.
Another important point to note is that your certification will expire 3 years from the date of the prior evaluation. Once you get certified, your employer must re-evaluate you every three years.
Question: They told me to come for a forklift operator interview tomorrow is that a good sign? I never turned in an application and they told me to come for an interview at 10am.

Answer: There are very few fork lifts in food service.
Question: What is the typical pay for a certified forklift operator?
Answer: I would assume something in the teens an hour. How you doin buddy!
