Question: what is the inventor for the cherry picker? I would like to no all about the history and all the other suff about the cherry picker.
Answer: "A cherry picker. also known as a boom lift is a device that consists of a bucket at the end of a hydraulic lifting system, usually mounted on the back of a large vehicle such as a truck, or sometimes a stand-alone trailer. The bucket is designed for a person to stand in, and work from. Often a duplicate set of controls that are used to manipulate the position of the bucket will be available to the person in the bucket, allowing the operator to position himself. The lifting arms of some cherry pickers are capable of telescoping to adjust the reach of the device.
Cherry pickers were originally designed for use in orchards, (not just cherry orchards). It lets the picker pick fruit high in a tree with relative ease. Similar devices, also known as 'cherry pickers' are also used to service telephone, cable television and electrical equipment on utility poles. Some fire trucks have a cherry picker instead of a fire ladder, and some window cleaners also use them. Cherry pickers are also used in mining and construction."
It doesn't really say who invented it, but we can deduce that the cherry picker was derived from other inventions.
Question: Does anyone have proof of a story about a man being electrocuted while on a cherry picker? I heard of a worker who went on a cherry picker to fix electrical wires, but the cherry picker tipped over and he was stuck for hours. He became charged with the picker, but didn't die because the current didn't release through him. After a while his bladder became full and he had to urinate. This stream caused the electricity to ground and the death of the worker.
Is this story true?
Any proof please?
Related stories?
Answer: Try http://www.snopes.com
This story doesn't seem very likely because it is so similar to so many stories that have been shown to be untrue. Apart from which, if sufficient voltage were to pass to ground through a thin stream of liquid, it would likely vaporize the voltage and break the circuit...

Question: do I need a cherry picker to remove and install this engine? do I need a cherry picker to take a 4.3 litre engine out of a s-10 blazer?? My brother said i would only need a jack but I don't belive him
Answer: I cannot imagine anyone trying to remove or install such an engine in such a vehicle WITHOUT a cherry picker. It's one helluva lot SAFER and better mechanical practice to do so. Don't short change yourself on such a minor expense as a cherry picker. It is so very important. Good luck and God Bless you.
Question: How does hydraulics relate to a "cherry picker" ? Can someone explain how a cherry picker works
Answer: A cherry picker usually referrs to a "mobile person(s) carrier" that raises them up into the trees where the "cherrys" (or apples oranges..etc) are.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cherry_pick…
the hydraulics get you up there......
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_m…
"The popularity of hydraulic machinery is due to the very large amount of power that can be transferred through small tubes and flexible hoses, and the high power density and wide array of actuators that can make use of this power"
Ok now... here's a diagram of a hydralic pump motor similar to that what would drive the fluid to the pistons of the picker....
http://www.rrsilvershadow.com/Techn/Hydr…
This next diagram shows how hydralic fluid from a motor like the one above moves a periscope of a submarine...not exactly the SAME piston as that of the picker but.....IT gives the idea....
Now for some of the more technical stuff...
the method is applied thru multiplication.....
see this ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_p…
now if you are in need of the formulas of Hydralics actioning....
