Question: What should I do to be a Realtors Assistant? I have two weeks till I graduate High school YAY!!!. I've decided I'm going to go to college for Real Estate. Currently I'm a waitress but I would like to be a Realtor's Assistant as soon as I graduate. How should I go about doing this?
Answer: It really depends on the laws in your State and what you would be required to do as a Realtor's assistant by your employer. If you are in California it really isn't that difficult to get your real estate license and work for yourself, although you would need some capital to get you started. Good Luck.
Question: I want to begin working as a personal assistant to a Realtor. What would you want in a personal assistant? I am studying to get my degree in Real Estate and I think it would be great to get into the business by assisting a Realtor. What would you want in a personal assistant?
Answer: If I were a Realtor, I would want someone who is dependable and has an ability to work with the Public and answer phones.
Question: Real Estate Assistant? I have been a receptionist for a big real estate company for almost 2 years now. A few agents have decided to partner and are interested in me as an assistant. Also, once the merger is complete they will be ready to negotiate pay and are hoping to match my current hourly pay, with a closing bonus. In my opinion the assistant job will be more demanding than my current one of answering phones and watching the paint dry. My questions are...
Should I ask for a job description before negotiating pay?
What should I watch for as far as illegal practices?
If they do a job description, what should I expect to see on there?
Right now they are paying me for side jobs, yesterday I was aked how much would I charge to transfer a mailing list from one database to another. I wasnt sure so I asked a few questions about the database and so on. For this particular job should I have a set price or request hourly pay & how much is reasonable?
I live in WI by the way, if that helps you guys answer my questions.
Answer: Yes - get a job description, but be prepared, for this role it should be long and vague - which is actually good the fuller your days are the more you will learn - just be sure the partners are open to your questions to enable your success in new tasks. If you are getting paid the same as now to start off this good opportunity, take it - just be sure that your agreement includes a one year review with a minimum 4% increase or better based on your performance and capacity to contribute as their new operation grows. As per side jobs while they are setting up and you are still in your old role, think how long it will take you to do the job and charge like a contractor - not sure of your area but to type, min. $15/hour. If they don't use you this is the predicament they will be in. As per legalities, under most partnership agreements the individuals take on the responsability personally so I am sure this will be fine. Good luck.
Question: What do you pay your real estate assistant? I recently moved to a new location and decided I wanted to try a different career. In Cincinnati I worked as an insurance agent/CSR. I am a licensed insurance agent. I am trying to save up for college where I will be a business major.
I have been working for a large real estate company for about a month and I am questioning my salary. With the economy, I understand that I should be grateful to have a job. But, I would like to know if I should keep looking.
I have been told that I am doing much better than the previous assistant.
300 dollars a week for full time
200 dollars a week for 25-30 hours
Should I keep looking?? I love the job and I plan on getting licensed for real estate within the next few months.
Answer: It doesn't seem enough to me, but its a normal range. In a few months, you'll be an agent, well good for you but you also realize you will make nothing until you have a sale, and then you have to wait until escrow clears about 90 days, so save your money now.
Question: What sort of questions should I ask a Real estate brokerage Firm if they are hiring? I am trying to become a real estate assistant soon, but also taking the test will be licensed in January. and I am wondering what should I be looking for & asking when I sit down with brokerages who may be hiring.
should I ask like what percent of my commission I must pay, or will I get an office. what sort of benefits? do firms even offer healthcare? etc.
I currently have no experience under my belt so what every advice you can give will help.

Question: If you could afford or wanted a personal assistant..? What duties would you like your personal assistant to attend to on your estate, or for your children?
Answer: sure
Question: What is the appropriate office attire for an admin assistant job? i am a student on vacation and this is my first job, so i'm clueless as to what the appropriate attire is. the company is a manufacturing firm located at a industrial estate, will this affect the dress code?
Answer: It depends on the office. Some offices require business professional while some are business casual. I work for a law firm and our attire is business casual. We don't have to wear heels and skirts. You should ask the human resources contact to verify what attire you should abide by.
Question: As a newly hired legal assistant, what sorts of responsibilities can I expect to take on? I was recently hired by a Real Estate law office in MA and I am wondering what sort of work I will do. What sorts of responsibilities will I meet on a daily basis?
Answer: Store, catalog, and maintain currency of legal volumes.
Appraise and inventory real and personal property for estate planning.
Communicate and arbitrate disputes between parties.
Arrange transportation and accommodation for witnesses and jurors, if required.
Serve copies of pleas to opposing counsel.
Deliver or direct delivery of subpoenas to witnesses and parties to action.
Prepare real estate closing statements and assist in closing process.
Review and file pleadings, petitions and other documents relevant to court actions.
Research and analyze law sources to prepare drafts of briefs or arguments for review, approval, and use by attorney.
Prepare affidavits of documents and maintain document files and case correspondence.
Search for and study legal documents to investigate facts and law of cases, to determine causes of action and to prepare cases.
Question: which career? eye doctor, real estate agent, medical office assistant, dental assistant, or massage therapist? which do you think would be the most rewarding?
I like to be an eye doctor because i like office work, kids and I think your eyes are one of the most important things on our body.
I like to become a real estate agent because I love watching those makeover shows or a couple trying to buy there first time home, I think it be rewarding finding someone dream home for them, what I don't like there pay is based on how many houses they sell.
With medical office assistant I like doing office work like filling out papers and stuff like that but I don't like that they don't get paid enough.
with dental assistant I like that hands on work and once again you work with children, I think it be interesting job, but I hear that it's hard to find a job as one and you don't get good wages.
With being a massage therapist I like that you help people with there pain and such, and that it is hands on work, but I don't like that you can only do it part time and that you can really hurt your body by doing this.
I have been debating these courses for sometime and when I think I have made up my mind I think oh but I really do like this aspect of such and such a job, so I don't know what to do... a little help?? and can you give me some pros and cons of being an eye doctor I never really found any yet and I like to look at all options before I decide.
Answer: Real Estate Agent
Stability week. Banks getting bailed out, and homes getting foreclosed. Tough times. However, highly profitable for given areas.
Medical Office Assistant
Stable. Easy to get in and move to another place. However, demand is low because so easy to do. Most people just go to a 2 year school and try to find that. Wages, not very good. Probably bring home a 1000 at best most small private places each pay check.
Dental Assistant
Stable. Easy to get in and move to another place. Demand is very low. Considering don't need a degree. Some dentist just do on the job training.
Eye Doctor
IMO, stable, and profitable. Easy to get into, and not much required resource wise. Not a bad choose if you can put the resournces into it.
Massage Therapist
Probably the safest to do. Doesn't take long to get certified, and easily can find a job somewhere like a spa, hospital, cruise resort etc. Downside, unless you open your own spot, not highly profitable. But at the same time, not much cost to give a massage.
Between the two, I would go with eye doctor just based on stability and earning potential.
Question: What should i wear during an interview? I will soon be interviewing for several different positions such as:
Leasing Agent
Commercial real estate assistant
Assistant for a top producing real estate agent
I was told by a friend to wear:
Blue sports coat
Crisp white shirt
Conservative tie with some red in it
Khakis pants
black shoes
Does this sound OK or should i be wearing a full suit??
Answer: General rule of thumb for any interview is to wear a suit, even if the work enviornment will evenutally be business casual, it is never "un" appropriate to wear a suit, even if you stand out from the rest - that's what you want right?
