Question: What does a receptionist in a law firm do vs. a legal secretary? Does it vary by size of firm? I just started work as a "receptionist", but at my job I distribute mail, and do filing (correspondence, pleadings, etc). The Legal Secretary are assistants to the lawyers at this firm.
Answer: Im a receptionist in a small law firm (10 people).
A receptionist is supposed to answer calls, do filing, photocopying. etc
A Secretary is more of a personal assistant.
Question: is it legal for a receptionist to call in a prescription to a pharmacy for a doctor? The doctor asked the receptionist to do it because there were no medical assistants available.
Answer: Sure, but it has to be authorized by the physician. If the pharmacy calls the physician and it wasn't authorized, well, get some KY Jelly prior to being arrested.
Question: I'm thinking of applying for a legal receptionist/clerk job for a law firm. ? However, the job description kind of leans toward the female gender. By that I mean it might not be common for men to take a position such as this. Does anyone know of or has anyone heard of men doing this line of work (legal receptionist/clerk)? I hope I'm not offending anyone with the above sentences as I'm not trying to offend anyone. Thanks.
Answer: yes i have seen several men working in the office as clerks and receptionist and it is not just in the legal field!!!!
Question: Is it legal for a medical receptionist to "sign off" on a physician's charts? Is it legal for a medical receptionis to "sign off" on a physician's patient charts? If not, what could be the repercusions?
Answer: No, it's not. ONLY a Dr can sign off on them. If you do and get caught you could face charges of practicing medicine without a license
Question: What skills do I need to be a good legal receptionist?
Answer: Information is below.
Question: What kind of questions are asked during a interview as a Legal assistant/ receptionist at a law firm?
Answer: Are you familiar with the legal system, or the laws of your country?
Question: My receptionist opened a letter addressed to me and read it to a staff member. Is this legal? The letter was a complaint about this staff member, and of a confidential nature. My query is whether in a business situation this is covered by law or employment contract. Opening mail is part of her job, but reading mail out to non-addressed people is not.
Answer: Does she normally open mail as part of her job? If so, it wouldn't be right to fire her for merely opening the mail like she does every day. It is, indeed, illegal to open mail addressed to someone else. But if it was addressed to the company name, or this is something she does every day, I wouldn't think it would be right to use that as an excuse to reprimand her.
However, she did use terrible judgement by sharing a confidential communication. Why would she share something so hurtful with someone else? Seems like a pretty mean thing to do. I would definitely sit down and talk to her about it, and would probably write her up for it. The truth is, if you really want her fired you will find some 'legal' way to do it. Any employee who used such poor judgement in this specific situation is bound to have used poor judgment elsewhere.
Question: HELP! Interview next week for legal assistant/receptionist position! What will they ask me!? i dont have any experience in the legal sector! but they still called me in for the interview... what are the questions they usually ask!?
Answer: Show you have strong character. They'll need to know that you have integrity and keep things confidential. Attention to detail and strong commitment. Law firms are usually super busy and people work overtime, so they'll want to see examples of you being a team player and pitching in when needed.
Question: Can I get actual FREE advice on a criminal law issue with an actual lawyer, not the receptionist or legal aid?
Answer: The Constitution entitles you to confer and be advised by a lawyer. "Legal Aid" may provide that lawyer, so long as s/he is licensed in your jurisdiction.
As throughout life, there is one rule for the rich and one rule for the poor. One rule they have in common is that both may sleep under bridges. Or so they say.
Question: Is it legal to hire someone as receptionist, then make them clean up behind people in conf. rm?
Answer: just remember that you hired that person to be a receptionist and not a janitor.
