Question: What is an honorary counsel general ? I tried looking on the web but there seems to be no definite answer to what is an honorary counsel general and how they're appointed and what do they do. I'll appreciate some clarification on that. Thanks.
Thanks for the info but people are really not understanding the question. I know what a "Counsel General" is. My question is "What's an HONORARY Counsel General" ... How one is appointed, what duties does that person have, what are the ways by which one is appointed to be honorary counsel general and is there any rule like only those countries can appoint honorary counsel generals who don't have an embassy or Consulate ?? Thanks.
Answer: You're right, you've gotten some not-paying-attention answers.
Here you are:
There is no such thing as a honorary consul general. There are, however, honorary consuls.
Honorary consuls have no official diplomatic status, no diplomatic immunity, no formal credentials, and no fixed length of assignment. Most of their duties are ceremonial, cultural, commercial or social and are totally voluntary. They are not paid, and receive no benefits from the country they represent; they are expected to earn their own income from the business they already do, or that their consulship generates. An honorary consul is usually of the nationality of the host nation, not the represented one: that is, the Austrian Consul General in Boston is an American citizen. To be an honorary consul requires that the applicant request the title from the embassy of the country he wishes to represent. They send the request their Foreign Office, which decides.

Question: How does someone become a general counsel of a major corporation? What is the career path like? What is the pay like?
Answer: The career path is pretty variable. The two most common are probably:
1-Associate in major law firm for 3-6 years
2-In-house counsel somewhere
3-(optional) In-house counsel one or more other places
4-General counsel (either of company you're already working for or another one)
1-Associate in major law firm for 7-10 years
2-Partner in major law firm
3-General counsel (of major client)
You can look up the pay of the General Counsel of many public companies by looking at the proxy statement on file with the SEC. It seems that the low end on salary would be around $200,000, with $500,000 being more typical. Bonuses and equity-based compensation (stock options, restricted stock grants, etc.) could push the compensation, at least in a particular year, well up into the millions.
Question: How can I become the general counsel of the NBA? I'm in law school and I love sports.

Question: The role:general counsel associate and representative of one of the major shareholders of a privatecorporation
Answer: Sounds like a wank.
Shareholders are the blight on today's society.
Question: What does this mean? Office of General Counsel? Hi,
How are you?
Just curious...
I am researching a lawyer through the Bar Association and the status says "suspended contact Office of General Counsel".
Is this lawyer in big trouble or is this a normal thing?
Thanks and God Bless,
Ms S
Answer: It means the lawyer you are looking at is suspended from the bar in your state, and not allowed to practice.
To find out why, you'd have to contact the Office of the General Counsel, probably of the bar association.
Question: What is the market salary for an in-house assistant general counsel at a Washington, DC public relations firm?
Answer: www.salary.com
Question: General Counsel of Big Four firm? Has anyone ever dealt with a group called the General Counsel of a Big Four firm (EY, Deloitte, PWC, or KPMG) What is there purpose or function?
Answer: General counsel are usually the lawyers that give legal advice to the top leadership of the company. These people usually work very close to the CEO/President, COO, CFO and the corporate board.
Question: What does it mean to be "in-house counsel" to a corporation? I'm really just curious on how to get into the field. I am a law student and don't want to follow the traditional big law firm path like my colleagues. I want to serve as general counsel for a private corporation, but don't know where to get started. Do companies even hire recent law school graduates for a general counsel position? If not, what should I do to break into the field? Do I have to work at a firm first or would a government position be ok too?
Answer: Many corporations are now hiring attorneys, in some cases to work in HR.There are many, many legal issues involved in hiring and firing, that many co's have found it to be a good idea to have an attorney in HR. And, most insurance companies have one or more attorneys in their legal dept.
Just take a good look at the web sites of the larger corportations (under careers), or, ask your placement dept to point you in the direction of a headhunter.
Good luck.
Question: Why won't the Attorney General appoint an independent counsel to investigate President Bush's spying? The Bush Administration has admitted spying on American citizens without a warrant. Republican justifications include: "Clinton did it too", "It's not illegal", and "If we didn't do it, terrorists would kill you." Experts, however, say that the warrantless domestic spying is unconstitutional and wrong, and a majority of Americans believe it is grounds for impeachment.
Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez has said that the Bush Administration will NOT appoint an independent counsel to investigate Bush's warrantless spying on American citizens. If they're so sure of the legality, why won't they appoint an independent party to investigate the matter?
Once again: If the actions of the president are legal and moral as supporters claim, why won't they appoint an independent investigator?
Answer: A majority of Americans don't believe this is grounds for impeachment - even if it is proven to be wrong. Stop spinning your point of view. It has been shown that a majority of Americans, in fact, DON'T CARE ONE WAY OR THE OTHER IN THIS CASE.
And right now, it appears that the President may have a legal basis for the eavesdropping. The President is deriving his authority to eavesdrop from the FISA Act of 1978. The FISA Act allows the government to eavesdrop without a warrant to collect foreign intelligence. This foreign intelligence is what is in dispute right now.
Is intelligence that is intended to be passed on to terrorist organizations foreign intelligence even if it is collected in the United States? This is a legal issue that the courts will decide.
Personally, I think the courts will find it okay. These are extraordinary times and we are fighting an enemy who does not fight by the rules.
Do you want to risk the life of your son or daughter so a Pakistani citizen on a student VISA can enjoy his right to privacy? Think about it.
TO MANSION7: Let's assume that your actions today are legal. Should we appoint someone to investigate you? If you are innocent, you shouldn't mind someone investigating every aspect of your life, right?
Once again, get real. You obviously have an agenda based on your wording of the question and your add-on. You asked the question - don't try to reword it to slam Bush further if you don't like the answer. Read the link I provided below.
P.S. I challenge you to name the "experts" who say it is unconstitutional and wrong (most experts actually agree it very well could be legal).
I also challenge you to link to the surveys where a "majority of Americans believe it is grounds for impeachment".
It is easy to SAY anything to try to convince others you are right. It is another thing to back it up. I am calling you out. Put up or shut up.

Question: Can I sue the General Counsel and Trial Attorneys? I have a civil case against a corporation. I have evidence both direct and indirect which proves that the declaration the attorneys made for their client in 2006 is/ was false. Without going into it, please take this for face value and respond, I know that it seems highly unlikely and incredibly unreal that such a thing could take place, particularly when the evidence I have to disprove their allegation (as per evidence code section 210 so allows or requires), happens to be their own document filed with the court 22 months earlier in a previous civil trial with me in 2003.
In 2006, in Family Court I asked for Judicial Notice of this document and the court recognized it.
Doesn't this mean that the court saw that they were inconsistent or not telling the truth ?
Can I use this as evidence of criminality to get the D.A.'s help ?
Help me out people
Right-on.
Answer: They will blow you clean out of the water if you try a law suit... unless you have a CLEAR cut case, no other lawyer is going to want to assist you in taking this case. My suggestion to you.... Find a lawyer from out of town, and show him the evidence, because obviously without seeing the evidence and hearing the whole story NO ONE can give you a HONEST Yes or No answer.. This is to complicated and all of the evidence will have to be looked at by an attorney.
Question: How can I prepare an effective appeal to the NLRB General Counsel's Office of Appeals? My position review following my termination is that the manager manipulated a particular incident to terminate my employment. My discharge was retaliatory.
It is my position that this termination was the result of an unfair labor practice, based on the manager's personal biases and retaliation This incident provided the occasion to terminate my employment.
On the day and at the time of the alleged incident the manager was in fact not present but was told that I had engaged in an argument with a resident. Resident was attempting to violate policy. His actions would set up a potentially dangerous situation for other resident and myself.
Answer: Isn't your union helping with this?
