Question: what courses in Mcmaster should i take to become a family lawyer? what courses should i take o become a family lawyer>? i took poli science, sociology, english, soc work and maybe religion? i dont know help me
Answer: 1st year is general, you don't pick your major unitl 2nd year.
btw i saw the other question u posted about culture and childbearing i have to do the same assignment do u think u could help me with tht?
Question: What exactly does a family lawyer do? I have been researching a lot on becoming a lawyer and I've always wanted to deal with families however the sites that I have researched are very vague in what the job entails. If anyone knows the answer i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
Answer: Family lawyer does cases like divorce, child custody and cases related to family matters.
Question: What kind of cases would a family lawyer take on? I know that family lawyers take on custody battles and divorce cases but would they be limited to just that, or would they be able to take on other cases?
Answer: A family lawyer usually specializes in Just custody, divorces, dissolution's and marriage annulments. Sometimes they may deal with estates, Power of attorneys for a family member, and financial matters. It's hard to actually answer your question when you were specific enough..such as like what type of other case? I hope this helped some. If your looking into that, my suggestion would be to call family lawyers and ask them to see if they specialize or take on the type of case that you are in need of. Good luck to you.
Question: i need to know how I can find the best family lawyer in Ohio? I am currently living in Indiana and need the BEST family Lawyer or "DREAM TEAM" in Ohio for a case.
I am in a custody battle for my children and need help! I have been appointed an attorney who doesnt return my phone calls or mail. I need to get my children back home with me ASAP!!
Answer: The family court is not known for its speed. I would contact the Ohio State Bar Association (attorney) and request for referral to family/custody specialist. Interview them and find out their success rate in getting you custody and the reality of your situation.
Question: How much money does a family lawyer make? Any other facts about becoming a family lawyer would be appreciated. (eg. hours of work)
Answer: that varies so incredibly much. family law practices can be so dramatically different -- you may have a very busy practice where you are working 80 hour weeks and making a lot of money. On the other hand, you may be working for a public agency working government hours and making government money. Bottom line, going into family law for the hours and/or money, is the wrong reason(s).
Question: what are the ropes in becoming a family lawyer? how much schooling does it take?
do you have to have (a's and b's)
how much would it cost to go to a school to become a family lawyer
Answer: You have to go to four years of undergraduate school which can get you into whatever debt it costs you to complete it, and you would generally need A's and B's in undergraduate school to get accepted into law school. Once you graduate with your good grades, you have to get a good score on the LSAT, which would generally be a 155 or higher. Law school is generally another three years, and the tuition is more expensive than most undergraduate schools. If you get scholarships, then that would help, but you also have to add in living expenses so it could be anywhere from $30k to $50k per year to go to law school. While in law school, you should take some family law-related courses and then once you graduate and pass the bar, you can work at a family law firm or start your own business.
I should warn you though, that family law is very litigious, and the clients are sometimes quite a handful.
I worked at a small general practice law office on and off through college and I can tell you that criminal clients were generally more pleasant to work with than divorce/custody clients. I believe it is because of the strong emotional element involved. Many clients were amicable and nice to work with, but several were very vengeful and didn't care as much about settling and cared more about making their ex miserable. Really sad, especially when kids were involved. Good luck though. I can tell you work was always interesting at least. Some clients' cases were almost soap opera material - even though that shouldn't be an incentive.
Question: Does anyone know a good Family Law lawyer in the Tacoma (WA) area? I am a mother of a daughter who is 19 months old. Recently the father was legally declared the father after he didn't take DNA tests and refused to contact the court. He has never met my daughter and doesn't want to be in her life. I would like to get him to sign over his rights. I have gotten married and my husband would like to adopt her. So I need a good family lawyer to help me. Does anyone have any ideas?
Answer: A Google search netted these top two:

and
McKinley Irvin - http://www.mckinleyirvin.com/contact/ - 253.952.4290
Question: how to obtain a family lawyer in china? hi I am now working in china, I'm wondering if how to obtain a chinese family lawyer in china? is there anyone here has a contact? I am currently located in dongguan city.
Answer: use the internet to check for firms that deal with family issues or something like yellow pages, if they have that. Call up and tell them what you want and they might refer you to someone or have you book an appointment to visit.
Question: What are some good web directories to submit my website to? I am a family lawyer and want to get some traffic? I am just starting out so a free legal directory would be great. I practice family law in Ellicott City MD if that helps. I would like to cover all my areas of law including divorce, separation, child custody, mediation. A free legal directory to submit to would be great.
Answer: Getting traffic is a combination of a lot of things. The key to success is to create great content that visitors want to use, search engines will love and other websites will naturally link to. Of course, it's easier said than done.
You can use pay per click advertising in the search engines to reach audiences looking for your products. You can use Google Adwords http://www.google.com/adwords or Yahoo http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com
Here are some shoestring marketing ideas that can help you get the visitors you need at the least cost possible:
1. Create the best content you can with the best products you can possibly offer. Your content is your best advertisement - if visitors love your content, then they will go back and spread the word to others.
2. Make it easy for users to recommend your site. Viral marketing is very important -- and easy to tap on the Web. But give your users the tools. Get a Recommend this Site script from websites such as cgiscripts.com and similar directories of scripts. Some even go as far as giving incentives to those who recommend the site to their friends. If only 10 people go to your site, but these 10 people invite 10 more - that's additional traffic that you get for FREE!
Recommend Site Scripts (various) http://php.resourceindex.com/Complete_Scripts/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Big Nose Bird Recommend this Site http://bignosebird.com/carchive/birdcast.shtml
CGI Resource Index http://cgi.resourceindex.com/Programs_and_Scripts/Perl/Website_Promotion/Recommend_Site/
Hostscripts http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/Site_Recommendation/index.html
3. Rank well in the search engines (organic search results, not the pay per click). SEs can be a big source of traffic. The key is to create the best content in your niche. If you have good content, other websites will gladly link to you and offer your site as a resource to their audience. Check the on-page factors and be sure to get linked from authority sites in your topic area.
If you are going to read only one piece on search engine optimization, I suggest you read Brett Tabke of WebmasterWorld.com's "Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone: 26 steps to 15k a day." http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm
4. Send out press releases. While outfits charge as much as $650 per release, there are free press release submission places on the Web. Press releases allow you to (a) attract media attention; (b) get more back links to your website without sending each website an email request; and (c) get more visibility especially if your press release gets in Google News or Yahoo News.

5. Submit articles. Write articles and submit them to websites accepting author submissions. You get exposure for your business; establishes you as an authority in your field, and allows you to get backlinks for your website. If 50 websites publish your article and it contains a link back to your website, then you easily get 50 links from a single article. The more links you have, the greater your chances for increasing your search engine rankings.
Here is a comprehensive list of where to submit your articles http://answers.yahoo.com/question/;_ylt=AhzreGmnCUicOoyedqypscUjzKIX?qid=1006022407481
6. Post a link to your site for free where it is allowed (always read the Terms of Use). Examples are:

Question: I need to talk to a family lawyer about custody and child support, can anybody help? My boyfriend and I are splitting up. We have a 10 month old son together. I have been a stay at home mom, so my resources are limited and I do not have the money to hire a lawyer. Will lawyers charge you just to talk to them? I need to figure out what my rights are and what my son's father's rights are.
Answer: Sorry to hear this. Call your local bar association and get a referral. Many lawyers will give you a free consultation. Checkout www.lawyers.com, they have referrals and a great Q&A section where you can asked questions. Best of luck.
Question: What's the best way to find a good family lawyer? I got two referrals: one from a family member and one from a friend. The first one never called me back, even after I left two messages. The second one took 3 days to call me back and left a very unprofessional message.
So, what now? Do I open up the phone book and *hope* I'm getting a good one?
Answer: You can either contact your state bar association or you can look up attorneys via practice area on martindale (www.martindale.com). I would suggest contacting those who have an AV rating.
Question: What does a family court lawyer do? What does a family court lawyer do? Is there an article online that tells about it? What is the average salary range? What types of people would you generally deal with? How often would you have case, and what kinds of cases? Thanks. And would you get to argue in court?
Answer: Family law is divorce, child custody, Child Protective services cases, and enforcement of child support. That type of thing.
These attorneys are generrally self employed or work for law firms taht handle this type of case. I snow some who charge $700. per hour. The expenses of running an office have to come out of that, and any employees the attorney has need to be paid, so they may not get to keep but a small fraction of the fee.
They may go to court daily, or at least weekly. There are contested hearings on many family law type of matters, so yes you would get to argue in court, and cross examine witnessesses in jury trial. Even if the state does not allow a defense to divorce there can still be a tral over the disposition of the property, or the custody of the children.
What kind of people would you generally deal with? Well, there is a saying among attorneys, "Criminal clients are some of the worst people in the community, but they are on their best behavior when dealing with their attorney, and family law clients are some of the best people in the community, but they are on their worst behavior when dealing with their attorney in their case."
I prefer the ones on their best behavior. It is never any fun to have to deal with a person who is angry, bitter, hateful, petty, and vindictive, even if you are not the subject of their rage.
Good Luck
Question: Does anyone know of a good Family lawyer in Los Angeles, CA? I need a lawyer who has reasonable prices. The case involves a child and I am trying to obtain custody.
Answer: www.killersneakers.com online store for urban clothes and fashion shoes are hiring salesmen. The chance to make money is in your hand!
Question: Do we use a family lawyer to defend our son? Our son has pleaded not guilty on an altercation at school. He received a ticket and now we go to court. Another student had kicked him in the private area and slapped him and he pushed the person off of him. He said they were going to kick him again so he pushed them off of him. What kind of lawyer do we need to defend him? We do have a witness that can help.
Answer: I assume the charges are assault or battery...I would go with Criminal law Attorney...and the best you can afford...and I would sue the school, because they failed to prevent the attack on your son, and whoever else and have them pay your legal costs...
Family law is most divorces, and such...but most are educated in all the fields but choose to specialize...
Question: What exactly is a family lawyer and what does it take to become one?
how many years total would law school be? thank you
Answer: In the Philippine setting, there is no such thing as "specialization" unlike in the US or in other countries where the lawyers study and take the bar for a specific practice. You might be referring to a lawyer who "concentrates" in the practice of the family code and other related family and domestic relations law, especially with respect to adoption, annulment of marriages, declaration of nullity of marriage, legal separation, custody, support.
Law school requires that the enrollee be a Baccalaureate Degree holder, meaning you should have graduated a four year course at the very least. That four years already. If you are considering pursuit of legal education, and is about to enter college, I suggest that you take a Bachelor of Arts course like Philosophy, English, Political Science, Legal Management. Something which will require a lot of reading and will increase your vocabulary to adequately prepare you for any law school. Law School is another four years of school and one year for the review and taking the BAR EXAMS. All in all, if you are fresh out of high school, that is 9 more years AT LEAST.
I hope I answered your question quite clearly....
Question: how does my husband find a pro bono family lawyer in miami? long story short, my husbands baby mother is keeping his child from him.He wants to be able to see his daughter and raise her in the right direction. She collects child support and he is up to date. There is no setup for him to see his child, please help us.
Answer: Um, I would check with your yellow pages under family law and contact some of the attorneys to see if any of them are willing to do free cases, also look in the yellow pages for lawyer agencies that help refer you to certain attorneys and just let them know that you want to find a attorney in family law who works probono cases.
Also, here's a reference to some pro bono guidelines and possible agencies and attornies in your area, just scroll down to Flordia and see what pages you need to read for the sources you are looking for. Good Luck!
