Answer: I would suppose if a law firm had a division that specialized in commercial law you would have a chance of joining them, if they wanted you in their firm. A firm is a kind of brotherhood of individuals that have similar thoughts and goals.You would be asked to join one based pretty much on your ability the increase their profits.

Answer: The term corporate attorney usually means a person who works as an employee for a corporation. Positives are more normal hours than working a law firm, access to standard corporate benefits such as health care/salary structure/insurance. Negatives: no opportunity to get a really big pay-day from that one huge case, less opportunity to appear in court, can be doing the same job every day. Commercial lawyer is one of those terms that has no true definition. Anyone can call themselves a commercial lawyer. It is most often an attorney who concentrates on representing the corporation, but is not an employee of the corporation. It is the lawyer who works for a law firm, whose client is the corporation. In some areas of the country a commercial lawyer may concentrate on securities and stocks, again for a business client. I know of several commercial lawyers who in addition to dealing with securities and stocks also handle complex business issues such as acquisitions, mergers, government regulations. For a commercial lawyer the positives are the potential to make more money. The negatives are it is lots of work, hours are long, a person needs the ability to handle this type of law and keep current on it, and it is not as easy to get good at.

Answer: I don't understand your question. Are you asking where they actually work? If they're in-house counsel, then they work at company headquarters (generally). If they're outside counsel, then they work at their own law firms wherever those may be.

Answer: It depends on where you are. In some countries lawyers are split into two groups - Barristers and Solicitors. Barristers are those who do trial work, such as criminal, family, and civil. Criminal trials are those where the Crown (or the State) is prosecuting a person for a crime and the lawyers involved can be representing the Crown (or the State) or the accused. Family law lawyers represent people in family disputes such as divorce or guardianship matters. Civil matters are those where persons or companies are suing each other. Solicitors are those lawyers who do their work in their offices. These are the corporate/commercial lawyers, tax lawyers, real estate lawyers and the like. They do things like contracts where they do not need to go to court and argue before a judge.

Question: Becoming a Corporate / Commercial Lwayer.? I have some ideas on becoming a corporate Lwayer but still unsteady on how it all goes about. I am currently in Gr.10 and need to choose courses for nextyear by the end of the month, i did some research and is preety sure on what course and stuff to take for gr.11 and 12, but the thing is what do i do in university? Answer: Well there are two law schools in Toronto one being York's Osgoode hall and the other being the U of T law school. prior to acceptance most law schools York and U of T included require a 4 year undergraduate degree, it does not have to be applicable to the area of study, however it doesn't hurt. You would probably be wanting to get an undergraduate in business or finance prior to applying to law school. Another entrance requirement is an exceptional score on you LSAT exam which is a law aptitude test. There are generally three or 4 testing periods per year. You will want to study for about a year prior to taking the test in order to score well, as Osgoode and U of T law are very difficult schools to get into When you enter law school you will enter a general study program and specialize in your later years. For advanced law practice you will want to enter a post graduate LLM program. This can be done after practicing law for a few years. Now is the time in high school to begin taking business and law courses to build foundations and to ensure that this field of study is for you. Becoming a lawyer is a marathon of schooling, it is highly stressful, however very rewarding.. Good luck!

Question: Becoming a lawyer, risky? I've always wanted to become a lawyer in the corporate field specifically, and I believe I can match up to the job title. The only thing is, I've learned that many people who actually enter college and plan on becoming a lawyer change their minds. I understand that it's very competitive, but are there enough jobs out there for corporate/commercial lawyers? Someone I know passed his bar examination and was ready to get a job...except there were none (forgot which type of lawyer he is) for his job so he now delivers pizza... I have a couple of friends that graduated from law school a couple of years ago and they both have jobs they love. You might also want to make an appointment at some of law schools that you are considering - specifically someone in career services. They probably know the job market better than anyone else. Question: can i be a commercial lawyer? can i become a successful commercial lawyer if i'm stupid at maths & have no background in commerce/business/finance, but have a law degree with Corporate Banking & Finance Law electives? i especially wanna know if an aptitude for maths is important

Answer: You can be anything if you have the smarts, take the proper courses, study the proper subject, get the highest marks, pass the college entrance exams and the SATs, pass the Law entrance exams, graduate from law school, apprentice to get the proper experience, and find a firm which practices your desired specialty so you gain practical experience and has an opening to hire you.After all the education be able to pass the bar exam is the final test.

Question: What type of lawyers sue the police for a living? I know lawyers specialize in many fields such as.. Prosecutors Public Defenders Criminal Civil Divorce Class-action lawyers Real Estate Bankruptcy Insurance Commercial Corporate Property Appeals Cyber attorneys but which one actually specialize in sueing the police force? The reason I'm asking is because there are always police brutality and harassment but however they get away with their crimes because they're legal criminals. So what kind of lawyers specialize in these kind of court cases? What type of lawyers deal with police harassment and brutality?

Answer: It would be civil rights specialist. When the police violate a person's civil rights they are allowed to walk and sue. Generally there is not trial or anything and it is settled beforehand to avoid bad publicity for the police force.
