Question: How to study Hotel Management in the United States ? I am in class 10 and I want to study hotel management in the USA. Please tell me what I should do for that. Also, suggest some institutes or universities where I can study it.

I'll give you a crash couse in hotel management, my parents own a resort and I grew up in the business, so if you can achieve these goals, you will have a successful hotel. 1. LOCATION!!! Have a hotel in a desirable location 2. Uniqueness!! a large pool, flat screen tvs, etc.. have something your hotel offers that your competitors don't have.. you want your guests saying "I'm going to stay at the ____ hotel because they offer this and the other one doesn't" 3. Customer is king! No matter what the situation is, always please the customer because the #1 thing that will kill a business is a bad reputation. Do WHATEVER IT TAKES to maintain a reputable reputation. 4. Have a properly trained, friendly staff. Nothing gets guests to return back to a hotel more than friendly staff. 5. Have good software for processing reservations and credit cards, the fewer mistakes the better, and you'll save a lot of payroll hours in the long run. Achieve these 5 goals and you won't have to go to college. any college that offers a hospitality major in the united states is just as good as the next school, all you'll be doing is learning what I wrote above in extreme detail good luck!

Question: What are good colleges for hotel management? I live in NJ and dont want to go that far. I already know about cornell and nyu, but i was also looking at temple and boston university...are they good for hotel management? anyone got any others?

Answer: In the tri-state area just to name a few... Niagara U Boston U NYU Johnson and Wales-Providence (Close enough) and Cornell All are very good schools... temple does not have a very strong program. Cornell, Niagara and BU are your best bets. Syracuse also has a decent program, but is incredibly expensive for the education you will be receiving. If your going to spend that kind of money, come out w/ and ivy leauge degree.

Answer: One of the greatest aspects of hotel management is that YOU can choose where you want to be, and rest assured that there will be work there for you. Of course, the larger the city, the more opportunity for growth and development. In hotel management, the most important element to your growth will be EXPERIENCE. Therefore, getting a four-year degree in hotel management will not be as helpful as four years of experience, but the combination of both degree and experience is very powerful. If you decide to get a degree without getting experience, plan on starting at the bottom of the ladder when you are done. Knowing this, the best places for jobs are those that receive the most tourism/travel business- Las Vegas, New York, Chicago, LA, for example. But there are also great opportunities in smaller areas that rely heavily on tourism: National Parks, Ski Areas, etc. As I said before, choose where you want to go, then look for jobs there. Hotel management salary is average. You WILL NOT become a billionaire in hotel management, but you will also not suffer. Salary ranges from about $25,000 for a small (50 room hotel) to 6 figures for very huge hotels. This amount does vary widely based on your location, of course. It has the best program in Hotel Managment and you can get a job in the evenings making good money in the service industry, which could give you some experience for your degree. Just don't gamble, become an alcoholic, or get involved with prostitutes and it is a relatively inexpensive place to live.

Answer: Of course it's very competitive and also very expensive, as the Swiss franc is very high to the US dollar. If you are from Britain, it would not be as expensive. Usually a school like that will require fluency in three languages, often English, French and German in the case of a European school. Hotel management often starts very low, but rises quickly after a few years. You should apply anyway if you meet the minimum requirements (especially for languages) as well as Cornell and any other good schools. But there is no federal financial aid avaiable for a school outside the US.

Well I have to start picking my specific subjects for next year and would like to know what are the most important subjects that i need for a degree in hotel management or any other hospitality work. Answer: You seem to have a good start! Good for you on getting ready this early... Well, I graduated college from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. They had a very large hotel management and hospitality department where a ton of my friends studied. It would be good for you to start taking any business classes... you will need to know business accounting. Marketing will always be helpful. Honestly, any language courses can be applied as well because you will always have international tourists. Being able to speak to them in their language will be very helpful. This would give you an idea of what ethnic groups are represented. Do check the catalog to see which language[s] the courses are taught in. They may be in English!

Answer: Yes, a MBA could help you rise up in those industries. However, I would suggest that you get some experience within those industries first to understand what you like and dislike.
