Question: Surgical nurse? What school could I go 2 in order to be a surgical nurse i can't find where 2 go thanks.
Answer: Surgical nursing is a specialised form of nursing. You'll need to complete a bachelor's degree of nursing first -- you can try to get clinical placement in the surgical suite/surgical unit while you are in school. After you graduate, you must take additional courses to work in the OR.
Hope it helps.
Question: What kind of edcuation is required to become a surgical nurse? I am curious as to how one becomes a surgical nurse. Thank you.
Answer: first step is register nurse, then get your continuous education in surgical field.
Question: What nursing academys offer medical surgical nurse degree or certification? I'm very intrested in going to school to be a surgical nurse(scrub nurse). I can't really seem to find any nursing school or academys that offer that as a degree or certification...
HELP!!!!!
Answer: To become a certified medical surgical nurse you must:
Hold a current, full, and unrestricted license as a registered nurse (RN) in the United States or its territories (So apply for nursing school)
AND
Have practiced a minimum of two (2) calendar years as a registered nurse (RN) in an adult medical-surgical setting
AND
Have accrued a minimum of 3,000 hours within the past three (3) years of practice in an adult medical-surgical setting.
Question: How does a basic RN become a Surgical Nurse? In the US, after attaining an associate degree in Nursing, what must one do in order to become a Surgical Nurse/First Assistant? How long would it take? Thanks.
Answer: You would have to find a nurse first assist training program (which may be at the masters level now, in which case you would need a 4 year bachelors RN and then work as an OR nurse for 1-2 years). They are in direct competition with surgical physician assistants; so jobs are scarce in places. As to just becoming an OR nurse; you would get the RN and then get on the job training. That would entail being a scrub or circulating nurse.
Question: What is the salary of a surgical nurse in San Diego, CA? I am wondering what the average salary is for a surgical nurse and what tests must be taken, how many years, about it?
Answer: You don't really get paid more because of being in a certain department - many hospitals have unions and regardles of your specialty area, you get paid the same, it all depends on how long you've worked there and how much experience you have. Typically, new graduates from a nursing program will make anywhere from $40-$50k per year depending on the facility, the hours, etc. Experienced nurses can make $70k or more per year.
To work in just about any nursing position, as long as you are a registered nurse, your hospital will provide your training for your specific job. For an OR job, they usually will hire you into an "externship" program where you are taking classes and are in a lengthy orientation phase for up to a year after being hired before you are fully on your own.

Question: How do I go to college to become a surgical nurse? Can I go right out of high school, and go to college with my major being Nursing-Preoperative/Surgical......or do I have to get my Nursing (RN) first, and then go to Nursing-Preoperative/Surgical major?....Also, can I have a double major: Nursing (RN) and Nursing-Preoperative/Surgical?
Answer: Yes you would graduate HS then enter college that offers a nursing degree.
A bit of advice. Student Nursing positions are few and very competitive. So try to make "The" best grades you can possibly make. Because those will be the students chosen first.
Get your RN degree. Hire on to a hospital and then go for your Nursing-Preoperative /Surgical training. Most likely the hospital will pay your expenses.
