Question: Can a Radiation Therapy Technologist work overtime? And how long does it take to be a Radiation Therapy Technologist?
How much is the earnings yearly in new jersey. Thanks.
Answer: They can not work overtime, due to the potential radiation over exposure.
Question: What the difference between Radiology Technologist and Radiation Therapist? What the difference between Radiology Technologist and Radiation Therapist?
which one will you suggest
and whyyyyyyy
and how much they make
or will you suggest Ultrasound Technologis
Is x-ray tech and Radiology Technologist same or diff
****plz answer all the questions
Answer: Radiological Tech is someone with formal education and certification who takes x-rays. Usually referred to as an x-ray tech. There are people who take x-rays, usually in a doctor's office, who are not certified, but are allowed to work under his "supervision."
A radiation therapist is someone with very specialized training in operating equipment that directs specific doses of radiation to cancer sites. Often a certified rad tech who has received more education and been certified as a therapist.
Usually make more money then a rad tech.
Both work under the direction and supervison of a Radiologist(MD.)
Each field of work requires a thorough knowledge of human anatomy, involves intimate hands on patient contact, and a lot of technical knowledge.
Only you can decide which would be best for you.
Question: Becoming a Radiation Technologist? I am looking at information on becoming a radiation technologist. I have a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and have worked in physical therapy. I wasn planning on going back to grad school for it but at this point in my life I don't see it being feasable. Reason being is because of prerequiste course work not complete and I would have to relocate and I just bought a house. There are programs near where I live. Any information would be appreciated.
Answer: "Radiation Technologist"? Do you mean a x-ray tech (radiologic technologist) or a radiation therapist (who delivers radiation treatment to cancer patients?
There are many schools in many states where you can get trained to be a radiologic technologist (the proper term for a x-ray tech). You can attend a hospital based program (and earn a certificate), a 2 year college program (AS degree), and even a 4 year college program (BS degree). The hospital based programs are the least expensive, and honestly, I think the education received there is superior. Once you graduate and take your registry exam, no future employer is going to care what type of educational program you went through. All they care about is your license. You can find an accredited RT program at this site. Just search "radiography" and your state...links are provided which will give you additional information on each program (cost, duration of program, contact person):
http://www.jrcert.org/cert/Search.jsp
RTs do more than just x-rays of bones. We do fluoroscopy studies (involving the intestinal tract and barium), arthrograms (assisting the radiologist with injecting contrast or dye into joints for evaluation) and myelograms (assisting the radiologist with injecting contrast into the spinal canal). If you work in a hospital setting, you will do portable exams in ICU, CCU, the ER and even surgery.
Most RTs will also become proficient and licensed in other modalities, such as mammography, CT and/or MRI. The more licenses you have, the more money you can make, as you will be in higher demand. With additional schooling, you can also do ultrasound.
Hours? Well, I work in a free standing imaging center. My office is only open M-F, 8:00-5:00. No weekends, nights or call work. In a hospital, most imaging departments are staffed 24 hours a day. You could be scheduled to work nights, PM shifts, weekends, holidays....anytime really!
I highly recommend you do an observation in both a hospital imaging department and a free standing imaging facility. Until you see what RTs do, you won't know if it is the job for you! It would also give you a wonderful opportunity to talk to RTs in your area. Best wishes.....
Oh, another good resource....check out the student area of the ASRT website:
https://www.asrt.org/Content/educators/_…
The American Society of Radiologic Technologists just did a large salary survey. The salary varies, depending on your experience, specialties and geographical area. For example, the annual income of a RT in Alabama was $43,196. With additional training, and licensing in MRI scanning, the salary is $51,174. In California, the average RT salary is $71,063. With MRI licensing, it is $83,185. To view, the survey, and see the average salary in your state, you can go to this link:
https://www.asrt.org/media/pdf/research/…
Question: How much does a Radiographer / Medical Radiation Technologist make, on average, in New Zealand? I'd like to know because I'm planning on moving to NZ in a few years' time. Most informative answer for 10 points! :-)
Answer: You might get better and more answers if you asked this in Yahoo! New Zealand Answers. Just click on the flag at the bottom on the page and you are there.
I have heard the salaries are good. But that doesn't make it so.
Question: Can anyone tell me where to go to become a radiation technologist? I am thinking of changing careers and am interested in performing mammograms. Does anyone know where in Florida I can get the necessary training?
Answer: If you search the web for "radiologic technology or technologist", you will get better results. These are the correct terms. In Florida, the accredited radiologic technology programs are:

Question: Difference between radiologic technologist and radiation therapy? what is the difference between the two, they are 2 seperate programs, but what is the pay difference? what type of work does radiation therapy involve?
Answer: A radiologic technologist (commonly called a x-ray tech) performs imaging examinations. Some RTs take x-rays in the morgue. Most RTs will also become proficient and licensed in other modalities, such as mammography, CT and/or MRI. This training does not require any additional formal training, and is usually learned on the job. The more licenses you have, the more money you can make, as you will be in higher demand. With additional schooling, you can also do ultrasound.
A radiation therapist uses radiation to treat cancer patients. So, really a RT uses radiation to help diagnose a patient and a radiation therapist uses radiation to help treat a known cancer. Since they are two separate careers, I don't know much about radiation therapy. I was not interested in it, because I think it would be very depressing FOR ME. Some people are really good at dealing with those types of situations, but I know I am not!
A radiation therapist makes more money than a RT. The American Society of Radiologic Technologists just did a large salary survey. The salary varies, depending on your experience, specialties and geographical area. To view, the survey, and see the average salary in your state for both a radiation therapist and a RT, you can go to this link:
https://www.asrt.org/media/pdf/research/…
Before deciding on any imaging career, I highly recommend you do an observation in both a hospital imaging department and a radiation therapy department. Until you see what each career involves, you won't know if it is the job for you! It would also give you a wonderful opportunity to talk to those people, working in those departments, in your area. Best wishes.....
Question: Radiation Therapy Technologist entry-level salary? I'm going to school to become a radiation technologist and I'm wondering what's the average salary. I know it depends on location, but maybe someone is in that field and can give me an estimate. Thanks.
Answer: Here's a chart from PayScale.com showing the median radiation therapy salary based on years of experience; http://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=… You're right, a radiation therapy salary will vary depending on location as well as employment setting and other factors. To find more accurate salary data for your specific radiation therapy position, you can take PayScale's free salary survey. http://www.payscale.com/?src=yahooA
Hope that helps
Question: Radiologic Technologist Radiation Exposure? Only responses from Radiologic Technologist please. As a Radiologic Technologist you are required to wear a lead apron from radiation exposure, but are you protected 100% from radiation exposure or are you still being exposed to a small percentage of radiation?
Answer: You are NEVER protected 100% from radiation exposure in that job.
It killed my uncle, if that gives you any idea of how much you can get exposed to.
Question: I am looking for an online radiation technologist training or degree program.? Does anybody knows any universities offer this online program?
Answer: I think this is one of those things that would require some actual classroom, hands-on learning... I hope.
Question: Nuclear Medicine Technologist vs. Medical Radiation Technologist? Which one on average has a better salary? Which one is more physically demanding? Which one has more opportunities for the future?
Thanks!
Answer: job market wise nuc. med techs are out of luck right now, i know b/c i'll graduate in a year with my degree but no jobs out there. salary depends on which state u live in and physical demand, u gotta have a little b/c sometimes u get those difficult patients.
