Candidates who meet any one of the following criteria are eligible to sit for the Certified Specialist in PsychometrySM examination.
A Bachelors degree from a regionally accredited college or university and a minimum of 3000 hours of testing, scoring and associated administrative experience earned under the supervision of licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist or equivalent.
OR
A Masters or Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited college or university with documented course work in a related field and a minimum of 2000 hours of testing, scoring and associated administrative experience earned under the supervision of licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist or equivalent.
A total of 2000 hours is equivalent to one-year of “full-time work experience.” To qualify, work experience must include substantial time spent in testing, scoring and associated administrative activities performed under the supervision of a licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist or equivalent. Periods of work that include significant time devoted to tasks unrelated to psychometry do not qualify. The required hours of qualifying work experience may have been earned at any time during the five (5) year period immediately prior to the date of application.
Question: How to become a psychometrist? What are the requirements?
Answer: Well, some natural psychic ability would help. Psychometry is the ability to read objects for connections to other objects and people through psychic energy signatures. One of the few psychic abilities I am not proficient at(the only other one I can think of being psychokinesis, though i am pyrokinetic and aerokinetic(same as pyrokinesis, except with wind instead).
Question: What modifications does a psychometrist do in giving a test to disabilities such as motor,hearing,visual etc.? What modifications can you suggest in administering a test to people with disabilities in motor,hearing, visual and culturally diverse?
Answer: It really depends on the disability. Here are some of the modifications I've had to make in testing.
Hearing impairment or people that are non-verbal (I once tested a kid with severe selective mutism): Nonverbal testing, like the nonverbal KABC-2 or TONI
Visual: For intelligence testing, only administering the verbal subtests, but reading all items. For personality testing, reading all items (obviously, you wouldn't administer a Rorschach).
Culturally diverse: Nonverbal testing again. Unfortunately, many of the major IQ tests are culturally biased, so nonverbal testing may be the best way to go.
Question: what is a PSYCHOMETRIST,and why do they want to test my child.?
Answer: A psychometrist is a person who has received training in psychology or related field with an emphasis in tests and measurement. The basic function of a psychometrist is to administer and score psychological tests under the direct supervision of a clinical psychologist. Psychometrists work both in inpatient and outpatient settings. An important goal of the psychometrist in the assessment process, is to determine a patient’s optimal level of performance on a particular battery of tests. In addition to test administration, it is typically the role of the psychometrist to establish rapport with the patient and to structure the assessment to motivate the patient in order facilitate the goal of optimal performance. Psychometrists also are required to accurately record responses and score tests using appropriate norms. Psychometrists keep note of test behavior, especially any behaviors which might affect test results.
Psychometrists must be competent in their use of a variety of tests in order assess intelligence, personality, aptitude, achievement, comprehension, memory, perception, and motor skills. They should be aware of ethical issues regarding patient confidentiality, protection of test security, and constraints about dual relationships with patients.
The use of a psychometrist (at both the Bachelor degree and Master degree level) supervised by a qualified, licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist. is a common, recognized practice. Psychometrists are often responsible for maintaining test supplies, remaining knowledgeable of new testing instruments as they become available, as well monitoring the quality of the work completed.
As for why they want to test your child - I would ask them to be sure.
Question: Laws regarding personality tests as a condition of employment? I don't know the specific laws, but if a company issues a personality test or "integrity test" as a pre-employment screening or as part of an application process, doesn't it follow that the applicant should be allowed to know how they scored on the test?
Most psychologists and psychometrists agree that the results should ONLY be interpreted by a clinically trained psychologist anyway.
So if a person has a right to know why they have been turned down for a job, then they should be allowed to view the results of a psychological test they took for a company as a condition of employment - right?
How are we to know whether the company is gaining access to our minds/personalities that might be considered "intrusive" or "sensitive and private"?
Are these tests appropriate without full disclosure and authorization?
Answer: They tell somebody their test says they are nuts, they go off and start stalking a company official... that's just not very smart policy.
I agree that a trained professional such as a psychologist should interpret the results of the test. Is the company using one? Was the test designed by a psychologist who gave the company guidance on what various answers would mean without needing to actually review each test?
There is no law that I know of that would force them to give you the results of the test. I don't know where you live, but most places there are no laws that evern require a company to tell you why you have been turned down for a job.
On your additional comment about full disclosure and authorization... you are giving full authorization when you agree to take the test.
