$300-$500 dollars or should I just purchase health insurance.
Answer: You can easily check your minimal health insurance rates in internet, for example here - health-quotes.isgreat.org
Question: See the Podiatrist before being fitted for ballet pointe shoes? My daughter is being fitted for pointe shoes, her grandmother (an ex pro-dancer) is telling me that her dance instructor was supposed to send her to the Podiatrist (foot doctor). Is this true? ...if so, what is he/she going to say (negative and/or positive) that will be any more educated than the dance teacher that she has had for 6 years? Please help.
Answer: Any responsible podiatrist will tell your daughter not to go en pointe. It's harmful to the feet and legs, and puts unnatural stress on all the weight-bearing joints.
Take your daughter to several dance stores until you find one where they are willing to spend about an hour with her. It's highly unlikely that a first pair of shoes can be found and fitted in less time than that.
I was a dancer myself, and I worked at a dance store, and I have seen what can happen to girls' feet when they wear bad shoes. This is especially true if they are put en pointe too early. Before the age of 13 or so, the growth plates and cartilage can be severely damaged by going en pointe, even if her shoes are perfectly fitted. Many teachers put girls en pointe too early either because they are pressured to by the girls and their parents, or because tiny girls en pointe is sometimes seen as proof of a "very professional" school.
Many dancers have the attitude that pointe is fine and it's just something you have to do to dance. You should remember that it can do permanent, severe damage to your daughter's feet and legs, and since only a tiny percentage of girls go on to dance professionally, most of them have this damage for no reason at all.
Question: How to become a Podiatrist in Quebec? Do I have to go one of the 9 Podiatry schools in the states? ( no podiatry schools in Quebec)
What about Michener Institute in Toronto? Does a degree in Chiropody from there give you the title Doctor/Podiatrist?
Answer: There is a School in Quebec:
https://oraprdnt.uqtr.uquebec.ca/pls/public/pgmw001?owa_cd_pgm=7017
Question: Do I have to go to a doctor to get referred to a podiatrist? Or can I go straight to a podiatrist?
I have a flat foot problem.
Answer: It all depends on your insurance. I have to go to my PCP first for every ailment in order to get a referral and have the subsequent visit covered.
Question: looking to work as a Podiatrist in Netherlands? im uk regestered and englsih speaking, my dutch is sketchy but i know i could pick it up when living there and looking to take lessons.
but i love the country and would love to be able to work there or a few years as a podiatrist.. any ideas where to start?
as a uk and EU resident i know i dont need a work permit. my degree is reciprocal with the the dutch health authority, and so are my regrestrastions in the Helath profession... anyone got any links on where to start enquiries? thanks for the first poster, you have helped
Answer: well, especially because youll be working with dutch children, and youre going to have to put them at ease as you treat them, id make dutch a priority. the working permits are no problem indeed. so i think applying for positions is all that remains then? finding residence if you dont already have it would also be a good start.
Question: Where do I find a podiatrist in my area? I don't wanna have to rely on google cause their could be fake websites pretending to be a podiatrist.
Answer: http://ratemds.com/social/ is a site where you can find specific types of doctors based on where you live. The added bonus is that other people tell you what they think of them. Just go into the website and click "Search for a specific doctor" You can put in as much or as little info as you like.
Question: How much does a general appointment at a podiatrist cost? I want to get checked for a possible fungal infection on one of my toenails. My insurance doesn't cover this. How much should I expect to pay for an appointment? Thanks!
Answer: A lot of this depends on your local area. Southern California tends to a bit more pricey.
I routinely charge $75 for an initial consultation, unless the patient is coming in on some sort of offer.
Question: My podiatrist said to get a small Dremel for my toenails to file them. How to use the Dremel? ? I can't seem to attach anything to it. Is there a special way?
Answer: Assuming that you have an electric Dremel tool, the attachments fit into the tool the same way a drill bit fits into a drill. The file attachments for the Dremel tool look like a little stone cylinder attached to a short metal rod. The rod is inserted into the end of the dremel tool, and then the opening of the tool is ratcheted closed by turning the metal collar on the tool with your fingers or a small wrench. You need to push a small button near the end of the tool to keep the collar from turning when you try to tighten it.
Question: How do I take care of an ingrown toenail without going to the podiatrist? I'm leaving the country in a week and don't have enough time to schedule an appointment. It's pretty ingrown. It's in my big toe. What do I do?
I've tried soaking it in hot water with epsom salt, but it's still enflamed.
Answer: Umm yeah going out of country with a high chance of an infection, not fun.
Call your doctor and let them know you are going out of country in a week and you need to set up an appointment fast to get checked out. Or go to a walk-in clinic. You have a week before you leave, thats plenty of time to get it handled.
Trust me, you dont want to be in a different country with a "pretty ingrown" toenail : /
Question: Is a podiatrist limited in what kind of prescriptions he can write?
Podiatrist go to a seperate school than regular medical school. There are only 8 podiatry schools in the US.
Answer: NO They just specialize You see MD all go through same training.
Question: Why do Podiatrist have to learn Physics and Chemistry? And what specific parts of physics and chem are used?
I know what it take to get it to the medical field but my question is asking, specificaly, about why physics is needed and more specificaly why is it needed to become a foot doctor.
Answer: It's a medical profession, right? ALL parts are used.
I think it's time to learn what it takes to become a doctor.
Step 1: Bachelor's degree in pre-med: Pysics, Chemistry both required - all classes, usually
Step 2: Med School, Years 1-2 : in a classrom APPLYING undergrad studies to real life scenarios
Step 3: Med School, Years 3-4: resident at a local hospital. You'll be cycled through different areas of the hospital.
Step 4: Med School, years 5-8: fellowship at a local hospital. If you're a podiatrist, you'll get even more specialized training.
So yes, you'll need all the science classes you can get.
---
Edit: Physics is the science of matter and energy and their interactions. How is that NOT important in medicine?
"The most fundamental discoveries in physics have rapidly been exploited by the medical community to devise new techniques for diagnosing and treating a variety of illnesses. And physicists are increasingly listening to the demands of the medical profession when defining the direction of new research. "

Question: what are the steps in becoming a podiatrist? do u need to be a docter or there seprate class that teaches you? and what is the pay rate?
Answer: dude, all I can say is study study study^_^
try to study a lot on the lower body physiology and anatomy.....a book that could help is by Tortora and also know how to apply your work not only theoretically but also practically.
Pay rate would most likely 50,000-100,000 american dollars I think..heheheh.....good luck on that goal
peace out from bart^_^
Question: Are visits to a podiatrist covered by insurance? I am just curious to know...I know that it will vary by insurance coverage but just generally speaking. I know that plastic surgery generally isn't; is this also the case with podiatry?
Answer: I would think this would be covered standar, but you might check your policy exclusions
Question: Should I see my regular doctor or go to a podiatrist for an ingrown toenail? It's not getting worse, but not getting better either, home remedies haven't helped
Answer: Regular doctor. Alternatively, have you tried cutting a triangle-shaped incision into the middle of it.
Question: I have gone to the podiatrist twice and both times he shaved the spot on my foot.? He thought it was a wart but not 100%. Low and behold it comes back. It is on the side of my toe. I also have something on the bottom of my foot but it is not sticking out.
Should I try something over the counter? Any home remedies that really work? Has anyone tried duct tape?
Answer: if you really want to remove warts forever then you should know that you can remove warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or with cream but warts can reappear again and again because warts appears when your immune system is weak! so you must build up your immune system because your body can get rid of warts by itself if your immune system will be strong! so eat more healthy food, more vitamins and more sport activities!
(No smoking, no beer/ale, no booze, no drugs, no junk food, no fast food garbage, no sugary sweet soda's. Get on a good, balanced, healthy diet including plenty of boiled or steamed vegetables. Drink P L E N T Y O F W A T E R , fruit juices & fat free milk. Snack on lots of RAW fruit & veggies. Get up one hour early every morning & take a BRISK 30 minute walk - then - do the same thing again in the evening after dinner. Make sure you eat a good, balanced breakfast daily. You get your energy for the day from your breakfast meal. Get 8 hours sleep each night. Flip your mattress over so it will level out to give you a good night's rest. Slack off too much coffee & tea.)
HPV is the virus that causes warts. And HPV virus has many strains. In your case you have HPV virus strain number 2. People can be infected with HPV and never show any symptoms. Others will develop warts. These warts can stay the same size, grow, or go away on their own. It depends on the infected person's immune system. A healthy immune system means your body may be able to suppress the virus and not show symptoms.
also you should use some herbal treatment!
in that case Wartrol is a good (probably the best) product that gets rid of warts comparatively fast and makes you feel more confident knowing that they wont reappear again! it says that it is designed for Genital Warts but
it does not matter because warts are warts and wartrol works by stimulating your immune system to fight the HPV virus that causes the warts. of course it is better if you use full course (5 months - if I remember correctly).
It worked and still works for me!
I do not know if any pharmacies carry Wartrol but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here http://www.wartrol.com/?aid=749165
The advantage of Wartrol over other natural treatments for warts is that, since it is taken orally, it can also act on invisible warts that can't be treated by other creams and natural remedies.
good luck!
Working in health + personal experience
Question: I am freaking out about going to a podiatrist today. What will he do? I have been having so much pain in my right foot, I called in to work today to go see the doctor.
I am worried about what is wrong and scared he is going to probably think this is a minor problem. Its not. I have waited for over a month to get treated thinking it would go away on its own. I walk with such a limp, its making my left ankle swell up.
Do you see a podiatrist and what do they do?
Answer: possible stress fracture in your foot? hell just check it out, probably twist it and ask u if it hurts, tap it and ask if it hurts. nothing oober bad. :)
