Question: Should I be embarrassed for having plastic surgery? I am planning to get plastic surgery on my face and I am a bit worried that people might judge me differently when they find out that I had some plastic surgery done to my face. I plan to get a nose job along with eyelifts.
Do you think I should keep it a secret and not tell anyone unless they bluntly ask? Or do I just let it be and freely tell all who wish to know. I don't look all that bad but I can be better and it's something I just want or need in life.
Anyways, to all who had plastic surgery done, do you tell others about your operation or do you keep them in the dark? To people who never need to have plastic surgery, how do you view other who had undergo such surgery. Please be insightful. I am really in need of some feedback. Thanks.
Answer: There is certainly nothing to be embarrassed about. I don't think it's necessary to go around broadcasting it to people who don't ask, howver if someone comments about how great you look and asks what's up, simply smile and tell them what's up. Nothing at all wrong with that. If you try to keep it a secret, it appears that there's something wrong with what you did. (There is not anything wrong with what you did.)
I have never had plastic surgery, but to those who feel they need it (for whatever reason), I say, go for it. ...rock on, Mama!
Question: How much does laser plastic surgery cost in Canada? I've seen this plastic surgery on TV, where the laser melts away the fat and you have a faster recovery time. How much would this laser plastic surgery cost in Canada? Thanks.
Answer: don't consider plastic surgery, be happy in yourself

Question: What are the numbers like for plastic surgery disasters? What is the amount of plastic surgeries that are botched? What are the chances that you will make it through the surgery without a hitch? It's a scary thing, but also a hopeful one. Plastic surgery can cure such a depressing life, like the one i'm living, but i am just weighing the odds of everything going good. That's not even considering a good doctor who will work a miracle.
Answer: The amount that are botched would first depend on the type of plastic surgery you want. Different doctors have different specialties, and you'd want one who is an expert in his or her field. The American Board of Plastic Surgeons is one of the offical boards for the field, and there are lists of reputable doctors. Here is their site: http://www.abplsurg.org/. There is also the American Society of Plastic Surgeons at http://www.plasticsurgery.org/. Make sure your plastic surgeon is at least listed with one of these organizations. You should also first check the Better Business Bureau at http://www.bbb.org.
Any time you're placed under general anesthesia, there is danger involved, but most plastic surgery is low-risk, so there is a very good chance that it will go over without a hitch. You must first be evaluated that you are a good candidate for surgery. If you have any medical problems, be sure to tell your doctor. He or she really must know anything that might be prohibitive to surgery.
Make sure that you not only trust your doctor is reputable, but that you have a good relationship with the doctor. If you feel uncomfortable; don't do it. There are other doctors who can make you feel confident in their abilities.
I don't know what your shape is, or what you intend to do, but they can't (or, at least shouldn't) work "miracles." For example, if you are obese, liposuction would not be the right treatment for you. It is meant to sculpt in areas prone to excess fat in people within about 30% of their ideal weight; not cause drastic weight loss. Most plastic surgeons would not perform this type of surgery.
Even if the surgery goes exactly as planned, there WILL be pain during the recovery process. This will vary depending on your procedure, but the area where you have the surgery may be tender for several months.
Most importantly, plastic surgery can NOT sure a depressing life. A surgeon will tell you that you must have REALISTIC goals for your outcome, and a cure for depression is not one of them. You really have to reconstruct yourself from the inside out. If you're having overwhelming depression, please see a doctor or therapist about that first.
Question: How do they get money for plastic surgery? How do the young girls on the mtv specials and other reality specials pay for plastic surgery, or get the money when there parents won't give it to them???
And no I don't want plastic surgery, I just always wondered because most of them are sooooo young!
Answer: when a reality show is really interested in a person they are the ones who actually suggest the plastic surgery and pay for it as long as that person signs a contract to do a certain amount of shows.
Question: Is it possible to get plastic surgery done without anyone knowing? I'd like to have some plastic surgery done on a problem area that has always bugged me, but I don't want anyone, to know about it. Is it possible to slip in and out of the operating room without friends and family knowing? And the doctor has to keep it completely confidential, right?
According to the internet, having this procedure done, I will be able to be back at work in a couple of days.
Also, any tips on finding a great plastic surgeon?
A taxi cab or something.
It's my body, I have a right to keep it to myself, IMO.
Answer: I think it depends on how much you see your family and friends. If it would be unusual for you to 'disappear' for a few days while you healed up, then it may be harder to keep it a secret. However, if you could stay home and that would be normal, then I bet it would be easy.
If you are not a minor (i.e. over 18), then the doctor does have to keep it confidential, as long as there are no medical complications (and that's rare).
However, I'm never that 'for' anyone hiding things from their family and friends. If it's something you would be really ashamed to have them know about, then perhaps you should rethink this.
Question: What percentage of Americans undergo plastic surgery for beautification purposes? What percentage choose to perform plastic surgery simply for beauty or cosmetic purposes? The most up to date number please! Any other statistics are appreciated.
Answer: I'm not sure but I would imagine quite a few. That's how our society is nowadays. Sadly. =[
Question: How long is the recovery for facial plastic surgery? I'm interested on doing facial plastic surgery and neck left. How long is the compete recovery for the face and neck lift surgery?
Answer: Well, I had to have nose surgery and it took a good 2 weeks just for the majority of the swelling and bruising to go down. I would say about a 3-4 weeks depending on how much your having done. Please make sure you do your research on a very well known and accredited and lisenced plastic surgeon.
Good luck to you.
Question: I want Plastic surgery but how do I start looking for a good doctor? Hi,
I want to get plastic surgery done but I want to go to a well known doctor. I live in Toronto, Ontario does anyone know of anybody in the area that is really good and safe? or has anybosy gone to a doctor in Toronto that is good?
Answer: go to this website:http://www.tcclinic.com/about-us.php it looks like its a really good place and good doctors. but always do ur research! u dont wanna turn out like kanye west's mom. be careful..
Question: What to ask during plastic surgery counseling? A relative is having a counseling session for performing plastic surgery on his face around his eyes tomorrow (it's a beauty surgery to fix dark circles -his is real bad) and I was wondering what questions he should ask the doctor. The said counseling has cost him over $500 apparently so we want to make sure that no time is wasted during the session.
Thanks.
Answer: What's the healing time?
What things do we need to do to make the healing go as fast and easy as possible?
What will I be feeling for the first couple weeks?
When will the swelling go down?
What types of medication will I be on for pain?
When will I start noticing the results?
Will there be any scarring or bruising?
Question: How can someone get pro-bono cosmetic plastic surgery procedures done? Does anyone know of a way a person could be considered as a medical students practice subject, and maybe could act as their practice subject throughout their cosmetic plastic surgery training, in order to receive cosmetic plastic surgical procedures free of charge?
Or is there a way to be considered for pro-bono cosmetic plastic surgery?
Answer: NO
No surgical procedures are permitted on patients by medical students anywhere. However a doctor taking an internship (which means that they are no longer a student, and are a licensed physician) would be allowed to practice their skill under the watchful eye of a specialist physician or hospital team, and then be able to perform medical procedures. Since a qualified surgeon is always present and either watches or assists, in most cases this procedure would still be a fee procedure. In essence since the specialist is there you would be paying for their expertise as usual.
Pro-bono plastic surgery has been performed by various doctors for reconstructive surgery, when the patient is in need and cannot afford the procedure, and of course for promotion of their skill, as is seen in Doctor 90210 where the video taping is aired for commercial purposes, so the company in this case (FOX) is actually paying for the procedure so that they can tape it and broadcast it.....and the patient gets the procedure free. Then of course there are other shows, such as Extreme Makeover where the same applies and the patient gets the procedure free.
Insurance regulations are rather strict on Doctors, and giving away services for free can result in many negative consequences ...if something was to go wrong, the patient can claim free might have resulted in substandard care....etc etc...so Doctors as a rule do not do this unless there are extenuating circumstances.
That being said, I do know that there is a website where ladies may get breast augmentation ... free...by joining the site and posting pictures etc...so that viewers can contribute if they like them, and the money contributed once it reaches the necessary amount to get the surgery is then sent to a qualified plastic surgeon to perform the augmentation, after which the patient posts 'after pictures' etc....but in essence the procedure is 'free' ... http://myfreeimplants.com/ as was featured on the Today Show.....
Question: How hard is it to get plastic surgery with a low income? I am in desperate need of a procedure but have little income. I am wanting to know if there is a way to help with plastic surgery with low income and not so perfect credit?
Answer: There are many cheaper options overseas than at home. Many have an excellent reputation and you can contact former patients to hear about their experiences. Often these are more than half the price including airfares. Just ensure you thoroughly research and doctors and clinics prior to making a commitment.
Question: How to get free plastic surgery by offering my services when doctors are teaching or in an ad campaigns? I once saw an ad where they offered free liposuction if you agreed to be taped for commercials & seminar footage. Does anyone know of plastic surgeons offering this kind of free plastic surgery, especially in NJ?
Answer: If a plastic surgeon does commercials, you don't want to have your surgeries done by them! You are better off saving up money and seeing a reputable surgeon not any one that will take you for free!
Question: Where can i find information about plastic surgery in Minnesota? im planning on getting a plastic surgery procedure done in minnesota and i just want some basic information about the whole process that i can look into.
Answer: i'de say your best bet is to look at a site like http://www.mnplasticsurgeons.com but i don't really know what your looking for since you weren't to specific with your question.
Like what procedure are you planning on getting or are you looking for information about specific surgeons?
Anyways i'de say that'de be your best bet at least as a place to start.
Question: How is it any different from plastic surgery? My friend has braces and is totally against plastic surgery, but I don't understand how it's any different. You're still using something mechanical etc., to alter your physical appearance.
Opinions?
Okay, to clarify my meaning: if someone has a small gap in their teeth that won't cause them any pain, and they fix that to make their smile better or whatever, how is it any different from, say, a nose job?
Answer: Really good question. Surprisingly the definition of plastic surgery is vague enough that you can categorize ortho treatment in it but it again deals with surgery. (Plastic surgery is a medical specialty concerned with the correction or restoration of form and function.)
Orthodontics is dentofacial orthopedics and has both surgical and non surgical aspects. There is craniofacial surgery which falls in the plastic surgery realm and non surgical dentofacial orthopedics which is orthodontic surgery. So when you get down to the basics, its not a part of plastic surgery. Guess you can't call your friend a hypocrite.
Question: Why would somebody want to get plastic surgery to make them look like a rhinoceros? A friend of mine is getting plastic surgery on her nose. She says it's called rhinoplasty. Does this mean they'll make her nose look like a rhino's? Are they going to put a horn on it or something?
Answer: Rhino is the nickname of Ryne Sandberg, who played 2nd base for the Cubs in the 80s.
Plasty is Latin for Plastic.
So, obviously, your friend's surgery is to get a plastic baseball player attached to her nose.
Question: Is there any plastic surgery to remove excess fat from my cheeks ? What is the name ? Is there any plastic surgery to remove excess fat from my cheeks ? What is the name ?
Answer: Look up Buccal Fat Removal.
This procedure removes the buccal fat pad in the lower part of the cheeks, giving a more chiselled look to the cheek bones.
But if you are not yet 25, you should definitely wait as your cheeks will slim down naturally as you get older. Don't rush into surgery, think carefully before going ahead.
