Question: I have my bachelors in health care administration, so now how should I proceed to become a nurse manager? I would like to at least pursue something similar to a nurse manager, but now I feel like my time getting my bachelors might have been a waste of time.
Answer: It wasn't a waste of time, but if you want to be a nurse manager, generally you need to be a nurse. I've never seen a nurse manager position that didn't require you hold the license and have work experience as an RN. You just wouldn't have the practical knowledge to run a unit.
Since you hold a bachelors degree, you could find an accelerated BSN or post-baccalaureate BSN program and complete your nursing degree in as little as 18-24 months.
Question: What is a nurse manager's job description? I am just starting nursing school and my major is to get a BS degree in order to move on up to a nurse practioner. I was just trying to compare the two job descriptions of a nurse practioner and a nurse manager and, on average their yearly pay. Could you explain that to me?
Answer: http://nurse.manager.jobs.topusajobs.com…
has some of the info you are looking for. I am not sure it has everything you are looking for.
HOWEVER, since you are already in nursing school ( i assume at college) the placement office should have easy access to salary comparisons of the 2 careers.
Question: How tough is it to become a registered nurse manager? the salary is 70k+? Hi being a nurse must be hard as the pay is excellent and benefits are excellent. Will I need to learn how to draw blood? If so, is my university going to teach me that? thanks a lot
Answer: Go visit any hospital's nursing station...and ASK. The RN's will be happy to tell you.
Sure you'll need to learn how to draw blood and a lot of other euuuuuuie stuff. But, unfortunately most RNs don't get to do enough of the 'hands-on' stuff, but are (as they'll voluntarily tell you) becoming 'pencil-pushers'; it's a known fact in the medical field that the Nurse's Assistant or the LPNs will have more contact with the patient. But, only an RN can 'manage' a nurse's station.
Question: What moral responsibilities would one have as a nurse manager?
Answer: you would be responsible for the conduct of staff and the well beitng the the patients you attend. You would have to supervise those under you and make sure they do their jobs and are giving proper care. You will still be accountable to others including the family members of the patients and/or patients themselves. You have the moral responsiblity to report abuse/ neglect and any other endangerment to staff or patients
Question: I have wrote to the manager of an nursing home with ref: to a nurse who works there she has a police record? I have little response from the manager, I do worry about the safety of these elderly people as she (nurse) has a history of verbal abuse and intimidation on her elderly neighbors. What can i do next. I would be much obliged for any advise on this matter
Answer: If the nurse in question has a criminal record, just rewrite the letter to the nursing home administrator or find out the owner and write to them. That should make them investigate. They could be investigating as we speak. You can also contact the State Attorneys Office of your state for prompt action. they will want details too. Most registered nurses and LPN's have records and certifications they must keep up by law, which is another area to check and to alert. This person could be using anothers identity.
Question: What are the steps needed to become a nurse case manager? I am already an RN and would like to become one. Is there a certification that you would recommend or training?
Answer: I highly advise getting your MSN in Administration, as opposed to becoming an NP.
Good luck!
Question: How can I become a nurse case manager? I am an RN and I am looking to get out of hospital floor nursing. How do I get into case management? Do I need to be certified?
Answer: YeSum!!
Question: Can assistant professor control nurse manager? What about professor? Can they fire anybody?
Answer: There should be an organizational chart that delineates who is over whom. For instance, the CEO would be at the top of the food chain (so to speak) and he might have several Vice-Presidents reporting directing to him. In turn, each of the VP's will have several department managers reporting to them. The CEO would have the power to fire a department manager if he directly supervised the VP over that department. However, another VP would not have the power to discipline the employee of a co-VP.
Question: How will you define a Nurse Manager?
Answer: responsible, put job before family, knowledgeable, tolerance and diplomatic.
Question: nurse manager responds to a staff nurse's error by directing a cna to phone the nurse, pretended to be a ? higher power. What should I do as a witness?
Answer: Follow the chain of command in your hospital/facility. Report this activity to the nurse manager's own manager and then go up the ladder from there if you need to. Make sure the report is properly documented.
