Question: what are the advantages and disadvantages of a nurse clinician?
Answer: That depends on whether you mean for the nurse or for the patient. A nurse clinician is an advanced practice nurse (i.e. nurse practitioner, nurse-midwife, nurse-anesthetist) with a broader knowledge base than us regular RNs. To become an APN, you have almost as much schooling as a doctor, with more focus on anatomy/physiology. You also become able to have your own practice, own DEA number, etc. In my experience, APNs are-- not better than doctors, but very different. You are treated as a whole person, not just as symptoms/diseases. To me, there aren't any disadvantages for the patient; but I'm biased. For the APN, the disadvantages are longer work hours, more school, continuing education, etc.
Question: MSN/Nurse Clinician Rank Question? Do MSNs come in as direct O-3s?
Clem: I know, that is why I said an MSN/Nurse Clinician. I know what I am talking about...and it is obvious that you do not.
Answer: As far as i know, all nurses are commissioned as 2nd Lt's
Question: What It Make You Angry if Your Nurse Did This? Say She Gave Me Breast Self Exam Instructions When She Didn't? I went to Planned Parenthood for my annual pap smear. (Big mistake it cost TWICE as much because I wasn't below the povery line.) I received a copy of my file and I noticed the nurse and clinicians wrote down many things that didnt occur. For example, they wrote down that we discussed "safer sex, HIV, emergency contraception, etc". I am not sexually active so it doesnt' apply
Anywyas, I just noticed that the nurse wrote down that she educated me on doing breast self exams.
She NEVER did. It was a complete lie. Would that make you mad? Some may say its a little "white lie", but isn't that unethical?
It makes me mad. What do you think?
Answer: I would be only because the didn't offer to talk to you about it. They just checked off that you did. I would of said something or I would call back and say something.

Question: How does lifestyle and culture affect wellness? what factors, if any ,should clinicians(doctors, nurses, etc.)be sensitive to when educating patients about wellness and lifestyle changes?
Answer: Lifestyle and culture are two very important conditions integral to the well being, good health, and happiness of all. Many cultures have certain food groups that are known to be most beneficial to the growth, health, and longevity of we the people, and with a combined educational and medical program people living under these conditions generally do much better than in other parts of the world where such requirements are non-exsistant.
I believe doctors are quite sensitive when it comes to lifestyle issues, particular lifestyle changes culture to culture, or simply topographically. In closing it's important to remember that no matter what resources and qualities are available to all, one has to take the initiative to act upon their own personal requirements and conditional factors to maximize a standardized outcome.
Question: Is it Legal To Tape Record My Visit in a Doctor's/ Nurse's Office? I was angry after my visit to Planned Parenthood in which the clinician as well as the nurse wrote down several things that did not occur. For example, they wrote down that they educated me on safer sex, HIV risk/prevention, and the nurse even wrote down that they gave me instructions on breast self exams.
I complained to the supervisor but nothing happened. They all covered for each other and told the supervisor that I was lying.
I am going to a different Planned Parenthood and am just curious if this is widespread. I want to bring in my digital voice recorder and put it in my purse, and take the interactions with the medical assistant as well as the nurse.
Is it legal for me to do this?
I live in Michigan.
Answer: Both Parties need to be informed that they are being recorded
Question: when should I ask for a salary increase or should I look for a new job? I am a nurse practitioner who is currently working for a major hospital in clinical research. I have done so much more than what was expected of me when I was first hired (coming in on the weekends to treat patients without being paid extra, staying up to 12 hours a day to treat patients, etc.) I am a terrific clinician and have received wonderful reviews from my collaborating physician. However, I have been working at this location for 18 months and have not received a pay increase. My co-workers have told me that this institution only gives 3% raises once every 3 years?!?!?!? Should I look for a new job or should I ask my boss for an increase? I am not used to asking for a pay increase because I have always just been given one without asking.
Answer: Go ahead and ask. But do it nicely and politely; use no threats and don't put yourself in a position where you'll have to leave if the boss says "no."
Repeat to your boss all the good stuff you've told us. Then tell the boss that you like your current job, but are having trouble getting by on your current salary and you would like an increase. The worst that can happen is s/he'll say no.
Don't mention what your co-workers said about every three years. But if you hear that from the boss's mouth, it might be true. If so, you might want to think about moving on. It may be the only way you'll get more money without waiting another 18 months.
Question: Hillary Clinton Announces Agenda to improve the Quality of health care of all americans? Yesterday in New Hampshire, Hillary announced her vision to improve the quality of health care for all Americans, detailing her commitment to improving health care delivery and creating financial incentives to ensure that all Americans get the right care at the right time.
Read more about her vision to improve health care quality on our website:
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/healthcarequality
While the dedicated health care providers in the United States are among the best in the world, many Americans worry about the quality of care they receive. For the amount of money that we spend on health care, Americans should be getting better quality care.
A 2006 survey from Kaiser Family Foundation and AHRQ found that 51 percent of Americans were dissatisfied with the quality of the nation's health care system. And a RAND study shows that American adults on average fail to receive about half the recommended care that modern clinical science says they need.
Building on the proposal she announced in May to reduce health care costs by $120 billion a year, Hillary's vision for quality health care returns patients to the center of the health care system by empowering those who provide care -- physicians, nurses, other clinicians, and health care organizations -- and relying on their skill to improve that care.
I hope you will read these proposals and help us spread the word by forwarding them on to everyone you know who cares about the quality of health care in America. Hillary wants these proposals to be the first step of an ongoing dialogue, and I hope that you will reach out to me with your ideas. We look forward to continuing this important conversation with you.
Answer: Hmm, I think I just felt a pain in my wallet...
Yep, I just received a $$-ectomy, care of Hillary-care.
Everyone belly up to the Government Trough, there's plenty for all!!

Question: Why do clinicians, such as nurses and physicians, need to know about finances and budgets when these activitie?
Answer: when these activities have no bearing on the health care they provide?
they need to know the budhet so they have an idea how many high priced tests that they can schedule in any time period.
Question: Is Planned Parenthood Only for Promiscuous People? I suffer from Endometriosis (causes me severe pain whenever I have a menstrual period.) I take continuous birth control pills to stop my periods so I don't suffer excruciating pain. I don't have insurance so these pills cost me $70 per month from the pharmacy. A friend of mine told me that Planned Parenthood sells cheap BCP, so I went there to get some.
I explained that I was not sexually active and I need the pills for Endometriosis. I explained my story how I don't have insurance and can't afford the huge price tag on pills. I even wrote on my sheet that I am not sexually active. However, after I got done explaining that I have Endo, the clinician said "Yep, let's get you on the pill so you don't get pregnant/" She even asked if I wanted to buy some condoms for 10 for a dollar before I started the pill.
The following time I came back to take a pap smear, I saw the same clinician before the nurse came in. I had filled out a sheet that asks "What is your current method of birth control?" I marked "abstinence" She looked right at the sheet but still made references to me taking my pills regularly so I don't get pregnant. She even told me that I should try to have a period at least every 3 months to flush out my system. I explained how I have Endo so I would get incredibly ill if I started taking the placebos every 3 months, and how the fertility specialist that I saw told me to take them continuously so I don't aggravate my Endo. Everything goes in one ear and our the other.
So do the clinicians there assume that everyone that goes there must be sexually promiscuous and sexually active? Do they assume that some people are uncomfortable admitting they have sex so they assume everyone that says they are abstaining are really lying?
I guess it wasn't a good idea thinking I could get my pills for a cheap price. I didn't like being so disrespected. I am a 21-year-old woman. Why do they treat me like a child? Why do they assume that I am lying?
Should I complain to whoever is in charge there?
Answer: They may not be trained in prescribing pills for people with endo, so may not know exactly what you're going through (especially since different people have different treatments for endo). I wouldn't complain since you're getting free pills and basically getting a service from them. They also may be required to say the same spiel to everyone who comes in so that they cover their bases in case someone IS there claiming not to be having sex but wanting the pill. I would just ignore their comments or questions and get your free pills. It doesn't matter what they think, does it? Just get your pills and leave. When you get your own insurance, you don't have to worry about it.
PS/Edit: I'm confused why people assume that if you're trying to protect yourself from unwanted pregnancies or STDs (for those of you not on the pill for endometriosis) by going to Planned Parenthood that you're automatically perceived as promiscuous. How does society now define promiscuity?
