Question: Kinesiologist? If they had a reality competition show based on kinesiologists, what would be a good challenge?
Answer: NO, I don't think I would watch that. Sorry!
Question: Anyone know a kinesiologist or muscle tester in Massachusetts? I've been looking everywhere for a kinesiologist/muscle tester. It seems applied kinesiology hasn't quite caught on in Mass. Any ideas?
Answer: I would check the net, my Dr. gave me a list for 4 of them in Hawaii, there must be at least one in your area, if you can find one any where, ask him for a list, the Dr. have a list of all others in that field.
Question: What is the difference between a Kinesiologist and a Physiotherapist? I've done reasearch and both careers seem to describe the same activities. Exercise management and prescription, rehabilitation after injuries, and so on. So, is there really a difference between these 2 careers?
Answer: A Kinesiologist studies the science of human movement while a Physiotherapist is like a human mechanic - they have studied the whole human body particularly the muscles and joints.
Question: What is the average wage for a kinesiologist? Being an unregulated health care professional, what type of salary or wage does someone with this qualification command?
Answer: I have friends who majored in this and they found it very difficult to find employment in Kinesiology. Two people I know returned for a master's thinking it would improve thier employment prospects. No such luck. One of these people is working as a hospital secretary, the other at Target. Out of some twenty or so people I know who studied this, I know one who found work in this area of work and is making 12/hr. The fact that it is unregulated is why the job prospects are so lousy.
The only way that I see this major as being benificial is as a pre-professional degree or if you have an interest in managing a health club. You could study this and add some classes to make it a pre-med degree, or pre-physical therapy. Many colleges offer this degree with an empasis area in physical education, which certifies you as gym teacher.
Question: What education is needed to become a kinesiologist/physical therapist? Wat kind of classes should I be taking to prepare myself for college for these classes? And when I get to college, what should I major in?
Answer: you need a bachelors degree to become any of these. in 2 yr college you should take lots of sciences, like biology, chemistry, social sciences. when you go to a 4 yr university they offer majors in kinesiology and physical therapy.
Question: Question for any kinesiologist or natural health practitioners? Did you find it difficult starting out your business at all? I am thinking about studying kinesiology, (or perhaps alternatively naturopathy) I was wondering if there is much demand for the treatment, & if it is hard to get work afterwards.... Any help appreciated, thankyou
Answer: You did not specifically ask about chiropractic, but it's along the same vein as your question. I am a DC in Boise, ID. It was difficult starting out, as any new business is in the beginning. It takes time to learn how to communicate with people. As you know, the majority of Americans are committed to the medical model of healthcare. We are asking them to begin to take responsibility for their own health and to discard the idea that their doctor, of any type, is responsible for them. Many people think that health problems just fall out of the sky and hit them in the head, that they had nothing to do with it. The difficulty comes when we try to change this viewpoint. People are at a level of consciousness that suites them; it does not matter what you say. More and more I am seeing patients who want to take some ownership for their health care. They see the value behind the cost and are willing to pay for it out of pocket.
I think now is a good time to get into this field of natural healthcare. Baby boomers are older and sicker, they have some money to spend and they are pretty educated as a whole.
My only advice is that you enter into a profession that has some robust credentials and licensing. This has nothing to do with the level of expertise and understanding and everything to do with your marketability and scope of practice. Patients get off on knowing that you had 6 or 10 years of college and you had to pass a national board exam and that you are licensed by your state etc...
The key to success in this business is to be able to effectively communicate what you do and its value. If you can do that, you'll make it.
LAcc, DC, DOM, ND are a few good options.
Good luck to you.
Question: How much do kinesiologist make a year? Speaking as if they went into physical therapy with their degree.
Answer: It varies since it depends solely on who they can scam into coming into their offices and give them their money for a 'treatment' that does nothing.... oh crap, that's applied kinesiology. You're talking about the evidence based, real, study of human kinetics. Forgive my misunderstanding since you're posting this in AltMed it was an easy mistake to make.

Looks like a decent way to make a living. Good luck, and study hard!
Question: What does a kinesiologist do and how can they help you?
Answer: You'll get lots of strange answers from people who have no idea, so here's the answer from a kinesiologist. I'll make it as simple as I can.
The tool of the kinesiologist is muscle testing. The principle behind kinesiology is that life, from birth on, is a series of challenges which we have to adapt to. The nerve system learns, adapts and keeps learning.
For example, one of our first challenges is the force of gravity which we have to adapt to in order to learn to sit and walk, run etc.
Then we have to learn to aim at our mouth when we learn to eat by ourselves. We have to learn letters in order to read and write, etc. We have to learn to control our emotions and what people around us tolerate or not. Social skills etc. All this is done by the nervous system.
As long as we adapt and learn, we are fine. When something happens (trauma or other) and we stop adapting, we start compensating and the nervous system repeats the patterns it knows from before without learning the best way to tackle the new situation. We start repeating the past and stop learning.
This lack of adaption causes problems, physical, mental or emotional - depending on the level where the adaption ceases to take place. If not attended to, this will eventually develop into more severe problems and diseases.
A kinesiologist uses muscle testing to challenge the body's natural intelligence in order to track back where and when the person stopped adapting. It can be in the person's own life. It can also be that the person never adapted to a particular challenge because of inherited patterns. In that case, the cause is in earlier generations and we find that out as well.
Muscle testing works because the lack of adaption shows as a short circuit between the brain and the muscle. When challenged on a particular problem, the brain loses temporarily control over the muscle and the muscle suddenly gets weak or blocks (= cannot be weakened).
The challenging is usually done by touching gland or organ reflex points or areas on the body, acupuncture points etc. or verbally, by mentioning feelings or emotions or talking about stressful situations.
When we know when and where the lack of adaption took place, we use very simple exercices to re-train the nervous system so that it learns a new and better pattern and finally adapts. Then we can continue to live the life we want without the physical, emotional or mental problem.
With what can a kinesiologist help you? There are few limits to what kinesiology can do to help re-train the nervous system.
There are many types of kinesiology. Some examples:
- dyslexia
- belief system
- allergies
- emotional stuff
- mental problems
- relationship problems
- physical problems
- exam performance
- sports performance
As kinesiologists, we use all sorts of other methods, but we muscle test to find out very precisely what the client needs. We use:
- homeopathy
- aromatherapy
- hypnotherapy
- food supplements
- Bach remedies and many other essences
- knowledge of acupuncture and of traditional Chinese medicine
- brain functions
etc.
Hope this helps you understand a little better.
All the best!
Question: what does a kinesiologist do as a living? like what do they do everyday?
Answer: nothing that has to do with religion. they are physiotherapists, mostly.
Question: How can report a Chiropractor/Kinesiologist in California, involved w/patient that led to adultery & divorce? This was a family member who addmitted to having marital problems at the time of her being treated as a patient. Another family member - and the original client - was already being treated by this doctor because of a recent suicide attempt. Within 2 months, there had been adultery, filing for divorce, and now filing for bankruptcy ... not to mention extreme hardship and grief for the family and original patient - who is no longer being treated by the doctor. Can he be reported so that he cannot work in California again? Or that it will always be attached to him in a review or interview? There is no physcial proof of the adulterous relationship - only multiple witnesses to the events (family, a psychiatrist, friends, etc.).
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Answer: You can start by going to the American Medical Association. There should be some instruction on how to report a practioner.
