Question: What is the best source for finding Head Nurse jobs? My girlfriend has completed her nursing degree and has 5 years of experience. Can you tell which is the best online job board to search for head nurse jobs for registered nurses?
Answer: yahoo jobs and Monster jobs are working with local cities now. They have postings on there also.
Question: How do you become a Head Nurse of a department?(read bottom)? Do you go 2 years to be an RN then have 5 years of exprience then be eligible to be a head nurse? OR, do you go to school for 4 years?
Answer: You have to be an RN. MOST hospitals want their management candidates to have a bachelors degree.
I was a head nurse with an ASN - I became charge nurse after about 10 months and head nurse after another year. BUT everyone is different. I had the skills to be an effective manager, before I got my bachelors.
I now teach health care management.
Question: How to deal with a nasty head nurse when she refuses to let me see my ill grandmother?we had a fight before.? This nurse wants only to be nasty and not for sake of the patient health.By the way the hospital is in Egypt and we are Egyptians. The patient is in ICU but we wre allowed short visits.
Answer: tell your grandmother's doctor. he knows your grandmother needs to have her family around her.
Question: How much do head nurses get paid in a hospital compared to any other nurse?
Answer: Nurses in the hospital would likely be paid a little bit more than some others areas, because of the fact that nurses in these locations are usually paid with union rates, as other ones are not necessarily covered.
Question: How do you become a head nurse? Are there any prerequisites? Does being a head nurse entails more salary?
Answer: To become a head nurse or charge nurse you must be a licensed RN or other such as BS (bachelor of science), some nursing homes and facilities for the elderly allow an LPN to be charge nurse, however that LPN will be working under a licensed RN and a supervisor or Director of nurses.
Prereq: You must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and also pass a state board exam.
Pay scales are determined by credentials and not job performed. Such as, a BS would make more than the RN.
Question: Who has a higher position, the head nurse or the charge nurse? Whats the difference?
Answer: the head nurse, the charge nurse is usually in charge of the unit only for that day.
Question: How can you describe the duties and or favors you have received from the head nurse,if any at all?
Answer: Actually the last time I was in the hospital for "major surgery" the head nurse took me under her wings and made a big difference in my recovery. I was in for a partial hysterectomy that I had to have to save my health. She knew we had been trying to have a child for years. she also knew how to recover well physically from the operation as she had the same operation a few years earlier. She used her sense of humour and bluntness to keep me looking on what I have instead of what I didn't have and get my *** moving so I could get out of that hospital bed sooner and get home faster to my Sweetie. Her name is Sherry and she was like my own personal angel on earth! Good question, thanks for asking! :)
Question: Why is it required to have masters degree to become a head nurse? Reasons please i need it URGENT!!!!!!!!! thanks
Answer: It doesn't. That is a hospital policy. Many places will only require a bachelors. My mother even became director of nursing with only an associates degree, although that came with the stipulation that she work on her bachelors.
Question: What is the proper title for the head-surgeon or the head-nurse?
Answer: The Head surgeon depending on their year is considered the CHIEF or Attending....
The head nurse is that the Head Nurse
Question: Does or do the head nurse get first dibs on patients of his or her choice .Or is that the person to blame if? something goes wrong. As if the doctor would never be wrong or the fall guy?
Answer: No, we do not get our choice of who is admitted to our floor. And yes, it is often our responsibility to see that everyone is well cared for. We often do not have hiring rights over the staff, but can suspend them. As for the Doctors...ooohhhh today is sooooo not a good day to ask me about THEM!!!
