Question: How do I become a public/community health nurse? I'm in my final year of nursing school and I'm interested in public/community health nursing, but I'm not sure how to become one? how much experience is required? public health programs? full job details? any info would be helpful? i don't think i've ever even met a public/community health nurse.
Answer: The first question is if you are graduating from a BSN RN program. The US Public Health Service requires a BSN for all RNs who are hired into the job position as a Public/Community Health Nurse.
Most BSN programs I have worked with in the past, have had, at least short rotations, to introduce the students to the roles of the Public Health Nurse. Many decades ago, when I was an undergraduate student, I spent almost 6 months working with the Public Health Nurses, on various elective rotations, such as the Public Health STD Clinic, the WIC Clinic, and many other areas, including the Public Health Motor Home which took the clinic to neighborhoods for screenings and infant/child immunizations.
Contact your local US Public Health Service Office.
Question: The community health nurse is performing a well baby check on a nine month old infant, the child is due for ro The community health nurse is performing a well baby check on a nine month old infant, the child is due for routine immunizations. The mother who speaks little English is hesitant to give consent for the immunizations; she indicates through an interpreter that immunizations for an infant are prohibited in her culture. The nurse is aware that there is an outbreak of pertussis in the neighborhood where this family lives. Discuss the ethical dilemma using the principles of autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice; consider the nurse, the mother, the infant, & the community.
Answer: The answers are in your school book.....
I did my own schoolwork, do yours!
Best of luck!
Question: What is a community health nurse? I plan on majoring in nursing and becoming a RN getting discouraged because people tell me I'll work in a hospital, long hours, autopsies, cadavers, etc. I don't want to work in that setting. I want to work in a clinic or health center and take care of people when they get colds, flu, sick but not sure what job its called. Is it a community health nurse?
Answer: If you want to work in a clinic or doctors office that is a lot different than a community health nurse. They usually work in the health department and they see a lot worse things than in the hospital because people usually don't have insurance, or money.
Hospitals are not as bad as people make them out to be. Some are better than others.
I am a nurse, and I love what I do. It is not for everyone...
Question: what is the difference between a community health nurse and a public health nurse?
Answer: I believe they are one in the same.
Question: First appointment with the community mental health nurse on Friday? I'm really anxious.
I don't know how to explain about my mood swings, self-harm, paranoia and suicidal thoughts. It all seems too big to say.
I thought I might write out my symptoms before I go, do you think that's acceptable? I might still be too scared to hand it over, though.
I'm really scared. I have nobody to go with me and I'm not even sure where I'm going.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can make it a bit easier?
Answer: Hey sweetie, No progress will be made unless you are really honest with how you feel...
I think it's a great idea to write them down, then they are catagorized and you won't be missing anything out.
Most Mental Health Nurses are sympathetic/understanding, you kinda have to be for that job :0)
If she's any good she will understand why you've had to write things down, and will probably find her job easier if you do, as she will know exactly what help you need.
I think you should hold your head high and be proud you've made the first, of many big steps in helping to control/understand your situation.
Good luck xx
Question: How can the community health nurse be instrumental in effecting change in the health care delivery system? changes nurses make in home health delivery system
Answer: Lower cost alternative to the doctor. Greater access directly with patients across a wider area. Ability to offer custom solutions for the individual patient. In-home visits can reduce impact on emergency rooms for non-acute care (e.g. I/V antibiotics for cellulitis).
Question: what skills does a community health nurse need ? what skills and aptitude are required
Answer: patience, helping attitude, good nature, courtesy, calmness, dedication, the list goes onnnnn

Answer: I am a regular Nurse, the Community Health Nurse, could do anything from making home visits, to having her own place to operate out of....She may visit schools, community centers, or any of the local clinics...Each district or community has their own guidelines, but normally she would have a larger range of patients and usually younger or older than the average...thank you
Question: Community Health nurse as an advocate?
Answer: There are nurses who have a training certificate, to be a nurse advocate. You are asking about a community nurse as an advocate. I can tell you the home care nurses work with their clients as advocates all the time. May be not to the same degree
Nurses who work as public health nurses have a different focus on health
