Question: Which sounds better "Senior Business Analyst" or "Compliance Consultant"? I am in the investment management business. I know being a consultant is a respectful job but I have always wanted the word "senior" in my job titile.
Both have very good job responsibilities, so I am only looking at titles
Answer: I have been a consultant for must of my working life and consulted with various (and very different) corporations and organizations. As a result, I kept my title as broad as possible so as not to rule out any new busine$$. However, in your case, if 'compliance' is a big part of what an investment manager does, I would suggest you include 'compliance' in your title. Perhaps "Senior Compliance Consultant"?
Question: Which one is higher - Business Analyst or Senior Java Developer?
Answer: It's hard to define because they are completely different positions. A Senior Java Devleoper usually has a higher salary than a Business Analyst, but neither would be higher on the org chart than the other.
Question: Which position is higher - A Business Analyst or Senior Help desk Technician? I accepted an offer as a senior helpdesk technician. I'm currently working as a business analyst and gave my boss my resignation letter (2 weeks notice). I will be starting my new job on the 13th. Some are sad that i'm leaving but everyone asks me the same question; Are they paying you more? is it closer to your house? Then the CFO told me his boss once told him, you should only leave your current job for 3 reasons, either the other company is paying you more, you're being offered a higher position, or closer to your house.
The thing is i'm not sure if its a higher position? they are paying a lil bit more ( 5 G extra) but it's an hour away from my house.
Did i make a bad decision?
One of the reasons why i accepted this offer is because i know alot about their software, i have supported their software with another company (one of the company's partners).
Answer: I work in IBM as a business analyst. I am very sure you made the wrong decision to become a help desk tech guy. Especially when there is no significant difference in salary and on the top 1 hour of extra commute to work. Sorry its a very bad decision in my opinion.

Question: i am a Business Analyst now. i would like to know what position will be next to it.? on promotion i will be getting senior siness analyst position. but what wiil be next position to it. will that be a project manager or a business development manager or IT manager.
Answer: you can't even formulate your question properly- you should be sacked
Question: What salary should I ask for (business analyst position)? My qualifications, experience, and education.
Graduated from the University of Maryland w/ IFSM degree in 2000.
Worked for a large insurance company for 4.5 yrs. as a database analyst.
Currently, working for a small size IT company as a senior human resource specialist/database analyst for 2 years.
Have a total of 6.5 years of professional experience. I do have some requirement gathering experience.
The company I am interviewing with is T. Rowe Price, a large financial company located in MD and the position is for an entry-mid business analyst. What salary should I ask for?
I have 3 years of business analyst experience, gathering requirements.
Answer: The normal trend of switching a job is....
Multiply your current salary with 1.25
and bid your price... best of luck
Question: What job title should I ask for? I have a job offer in which I would be working 3 main functions, doing financial analysis, marketing database development and maintainence, and working on marketing and operations projects. I currently have an analyst title (marketing research analyst), and would rather have a title that indicates a promotion, as it is a pretty hefty salary increase. The company has indicated they are flexible with they title, which they have named Senior Business Analyst. (the senior part doesn't do it for me in terms of showing what I would like to) I don't know if they would go for an AVP title, but if they would, AVP of what? Marketing and Finance? They do not have an AVP in either role currently, though they have a number of AVP's in other areas. They might be more apt to choose something in between Sr. Analyst and AVP. But what would that be? The position reports to the EVP/CFO and is under the Finance area. This is the banking industry. Thanks in advance!
Answer: The key to titles is usually how many people you manage. IN my experience you always get a "senior" analyst or administrator unless you are responsible for other people in which case you could then become a supervisor, a manager, a director etc. you didn't mention your staff in your question.
Since you report directly to the EVP/CFO then it sounds like you would be most appropriately called an AVP in this position.
Question: Possible Career Change - Meteorologist? I'm currently a senior business analyst in the computer industry, but I'm into all things weather related. I'm not interested at this time in totally changing careers, but I would certainly like to learn more about what it takes to become a meteorologist. I'm not interested in being a weather man in the media, I'd much rather get into the "behind the scenes" work.
What classes do I need to take? Are there any prerequisites? Is it a degree program? Is this something I can work on without quiting my job? Any direction would be appreciated.
Answer: According to the US Dept of Labor, what education/courses do you need?
A bachelor’s degree in meteorology or atmospheric science, or in a closely related field with courses in meteorology, usually is the minimum educational requirement for an entry-level position as an atmospheric scientist.
OR
The preferred educational requirement for entry-level meteorologists in the Federal Government is a bachelor’s degree—not necessarily in meteorology—with at least 24 semester hours of meteorology courses, including 6 hours in the analysis and prediction of weather systems, 6 hours of atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics, 3 hours of physical meteorology, and 2 hours of remote sensing of the atmosphere or instrumentation. Other required courses include 3 semester hours of ordinary differential equations, 6 hours of college physics, and at least 9 hours of courses appropriate for a physical science major—such as statistics, chemistry, physical oceanography, physical climatology, physical hydrology, radiative transfer, aeronomy, advanced thermodynamics, advanced electricity and magnetism, light and optics, and computer science. Sometimes, a combination of education and appropriate experience may be substituted for a degree.
Here's the skills and background that would help get you into the field, which you already have some of:
Prospective students should make certain that courses required by the National Weather Service and other employers are offered at the college they are considering. Computer science courses, additional meteorology courses, a strong background in mathematics and physics, and good communication skills are important to prospective employers.
