Question: How can obtain the email address for John McMillan--an analyst at Prudential Securities?
Answer: try searching the Predential securities website. If they don't have a directory, usually they will have a standard way of giving employees emails (maybe like jmcmillan@prudential.com).
If you can find a few email addresses of other employees there, you should be able to deduce what his email is.
Question: In what cities could I work for a mutual fund company as a securities analyst.?
Answer: In the US: New York, LA, or Chicago. There may be a small number of opportunities in San Francisco or Charlotte, NC. Basically you would need to live in a city with a world-class financial district.
Question: Financial Analyst/Securities Analyst? is there a difference between the two? i've searched for numerous positions as a financial analyst, and the descriptions of the work load varies considerably. financial analyst seems to be more of an accounting role, while securities analyst is more geared towards investment analysis.
is there a difference in qualification requirements between the two?
Answer: First anyone can claim to be either. A true Financial analyst would have a business degree with a major in accounting. The education is required to analyze the books, the structure, etc, etc. Most investment professionals have a basic degree and learn the business as they go

I just got my associates for Computer Security.....but I can't seem to find any universities w/t this as a major...If I want a career in computer security which major should I select to pursue : Computer science, network security ? PLEASE HELP ME
Answer: This will get ya' started:
For the best background education; primarily on security & technical aspects: entirely free, go to 'Security Now' podcasts with Steve Gibson & Leo Laporte.
These are 1+ hr. 'sit down' chats, that cover current issues, the how & why, with remedies for security issues, related to internet, networking, etc.
Start with the early for computer functions & basics, and occasionally it gets a bit tekky (and very often an 'acronym tsunami'), but Steve & Leo do it in real easy to understand chat format, that makes it painless & interesting (if you like the tech stuff to start with).
College level education, free.

Question: Security Analyst Interview? i have an interview in security analyst position, i already have my bachelor in Information System Security (IT) , i need to fix my resume, anyone can tell me what experience or skill can i add to my resume that have to be with security or network, Thank You
Answer: Well, if you have any network experience, or if your Cisco certified, I imagine that would be a huge plus on your resume. Really, you should already know your own skills, and abilities. Just think about what you CAN do, and apply the technical term to it. IE "I can install a NIC, or WBBC, and a Router" (Network Setup, Router Configuration) etc etc
Question: Your journey to becoming a security analyst? I do also seek the path as a security analyst, and I also heard about the CFA exams. My question is to the ones who already finished, or have some knowledge about this path If you may can tell me about your education, So It can help me get an idea how to proceed as well my interest in your journey to getting there. So, how did you get there? how long? education? is it worth it? where do you work? intern? why do you do it? or anything interesting that you would like to say in a time line organization? I think I am confusing everyone... apologies.
I guess for me I would like to do it too become a better investor, and the training.
Answer: Well you can simply start with doing your undergraduate degree in business or economics and start working with some brokerage house. Then do your master in finacne or quantitaive finance. Now a days there are other majors with pure conentration of securities analysis.
This will surely make you a good analyst.
Question: How come people who work in finance aren't all millionaires? You would think people who are working as investment bankers and securities analyst, even currency traders would all be millionaires, since they know how to make money for other people, but why aren't they?
Answer: 1) You need money to make money; a lot of the investment professionals don't make enough money to cover their lavish lifestyles (ie. high income earners may not be good at saving their money, and might end up with larger debts than the average person).
2) Some professionals are restricted from participating in certain offerings due to "conflict of interest" concerns or other regulatory reasons. Trading rules prevent specific actions that would put the professional in an advantageous position over the client.
3) Investenting can be like gambling; certain speculators make, and lose, millions of dollars several times over during their working careers.
Question: Where do scurity security analysts get detailed info on company financials etc? All I have is google and yahoo finance.
Answer: Both google and yahoo finance provide brief financial information as does MSN Money:
http://moneycentral.msn.com/home.asp
Another great free service is Reuters which provides a lot more detailed information about company financials:
http://www.reuters.com/finance/stocks
Finally, the other place to look for the financial statements themselves as well as all SEC filing that public companies in the US are required to file is the SEC's resource, Edgar:
http://sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/webusers.htm
For international stocks, there is another free resource ADVFN:
http://www.advfn.com/
Hope this helps
Question: Which is better ÏT analyst , IT Security or Database Administrator? HI
I NEED to know how much an individual can make in or which one makes extra income and if you know how long and how many college credits i would need for them..
Thank You
Answer: It all DEPENDS on your performance, choose in your categories what is the job you really want and what is you are good at.
Good Luck! :)
Question: What is Network Security Analyst ??? What dose his job profile include ???
How should i prepare for the interview for this post ???
Answer: If you aint got a clue what the job entails why you gonna apply for it? Sounds like you better start out in a janitorial posistion!
Question: I want to work as a security analyst which colledge should i go for ... ? communication engineering or computer science
Answer: There are a number of programs coming online with degrees specific to information assurance. In fact, there is even a program called the Scholarship For Service - https://www.sfs.opm.gov/ with a number of participating schools; this program pays for some of your studies as long as you agree to work for the federal government once graduated.
The NSA also maintains a list of Academic Centers of Excellence http://www.nsa.gov/ia/academia/caeiae.cfm.
If you have your school picked out already, the Computer Science would probably be the better choice.
Question: What is the official name of Riley's profession in National Treasure? I always loved his job and wanted to know what it'd be called so I can look at it seriously as a career. Some have told me "security analyst" but I'm not sure how accurate that is. Thanks!
Answer: Hi Wacky,
His character was constructed to be a jack-of-all-trades computer hacker geek know-it-all expert. Hardware, software, security, networking, etc.
It's not a single IT discipline, but multiple ones.
A security analyst would be a good general category, but you'd be better off selecting a single course of study and concentrating on it. Otherwise, you'll spread yourself too thin.
Best of luck,
subexpression
Question: Just how important is the "fastest growing job" list? The more complex your job is and more highly educated / paid you are, the more specialization there is.
Thus if the local bank hires a new credit analyst, and the local insurance company hires a new fixed income securities analyst, and the local hedge fund hires a new portfolio analyst, and the local retail firm and the local health insurance company each hired a business analyst, these analysts all might be classified differently.
But if two of the five firms hired a new janitor, they're both janitors.
In this example is it accurate to say that the fastest growing job category was janitor?
There is far less specialization at the lowest levels and far more at the upper levels and this is addressed only to a limited extent when the Census Bureau ranks job growth - thus the "fastest growing jobs" will almost always be at the bottom even if most of the job growth is at higher income levels.
outcrop again, yes some jobs go to foreigners - like tailors - but we have 4.6% unemployment, so it's NOT "most" jobs.
Beren, it's an example. Job specialization grows the higher up the pay scale you get, and this is addressed only minimally by the Census Bureau in calculating the fastest growing job category. The point is that because of specialization being much greater the higher up you go, it will almost ALWAYS be the case that "the fastest growing job title" will be at the bottom end, even if the total job growth at the bottom is less than that at the middle or top.
Answer: I would think, regardless of how classification works, that it is important that more job growth comes from the lower income jobs anyway.
Those type of jobs are most often springboard jobs, which allow new comers to the job market entry into the labor force. With career field becoming more and more specialized, young people today have less of a grasp on what field they want to get into. These jobs not only get young people life experience, they also help support students in college.
