Question: How can a corporation effectively enforce drug policy if the HR Director/Risk Manager is on drugs? The HR Director/Risk Manager is the same person.
Thank You AlexAtlanta but I do NOT do drugs and the person is directly impacting/influencing my life.
However, by title, it is also the person responsible for scheduling random drug tests.
Answer: I believe that it is possible to report him/her, if it is deemed a serious enough problem (to the Police, if need be). You can try to confront him/her if you like- I'm not sure how responsive your HR Director/Risk Manager will be. .but you can try. Perhaps recommend "Drug Intervention/Treatment" to your "Boss". This person does truly need help.
Question: what does a risk manager in a bank do? I want to apply for an advertised job of risk manager in a bank but I have no idea what it requires. I've worked in a bank before but that position didn't exist.
Answer: It depends whether it's operations or loan related.
Though the position is usually within a compliance
department. A Risk Manager performs internal
audits to ensure compliance with regulations. They
must be versed in regulations set forth by the OCC
(federal) or State Banking Commisioner or FDIC
as well as the banks internal policies and procedures.
To a degree, all officers of a bank are responsible for
risk management. The operations supervisers at the
branch level are responsible for ensuring subordinate
personnel are performing within set perimeters that
reduce risk. Loan officers, especially commercial and
corporate banking officers, are responsible at a branch
level for ensuring compliance with all loan covenants
thus minimizing the risk for loss. At the highest level of
auditing, the person would most likely be fired if the
bank scored low on the community reinvestment act
CRA Audit or if a large percentage of loans went bad or the bank routinely erred in the filing of CTR large currency transaction reporting to the IRS... a bank
is subject to annual audits and the audits can be requested
by anyone who wants to see them. How well they score
in such audits affects whether that bank can expand, enter into negotiations to buy or merge with another bank, not to mention fines and penalties, etc...
Question: In making a decision what would be the amount of risk a manager is willing to take? I mean to ask how good a manager should be in judging and taking a decision and what would be the factors that affects the risk...as a corporate manager sometimes i fall in dilemma in making a decision
Answer: This is going to sound crude, but I don't mean to be. At my last place of employment I was acting COO. I didn't make it that far by feeling insecure about making a decision. If you are unsure you think about it and sleep on it overnight and then decide. I have even gone so far as to do research before making a decision to make sure there will be no legal consequences. I have always made sure that any decision I made did not directly effect any particular person to avoid employee conflicts and employee morale issues. As a corporate manager you shouldn't be double guessing yourself in this manner. You may be looking at a termination some where down the line when your superiors realize you lack this very essential skill requirement. And for the record I was not fired. I had to leave due to illness and they have been gracious enough to allow me to work from home in a different capacity, but still management.

Question: how do you become a risk manager for insurance?
Answer: get your insurance liscense first then learn and move upthe ranks
Question: How do I become a Case Manager for troubled/"at risk" youth? I will have a BS in Sociology (Criminology) in December 2007. I have been job hunting and have some decent prospects, and I want to move to PA upon graduation, but if anyone had any pointers or suggestions I would be very thankful. I don't have very much experience, just a 3 month internship and a 6 month 'mentor' program that I was involved with. I don't expect much money but I am really passionate about this and am fearful about finding a job in this field when I graduate. Seems everyone wants people with a lot of experience.
Any case managers out there? I would be willing to hear what you did in order to get your job! Are there any classes I should look into taking to help boost my chances?
THANKS!
Answer: If you contact the department of children services or human services, whatever the name is, they could tell you how to go about it. The local police department could give you the names and numbers. In Oklahoma, we want people who are fresh in the field so they don't have any bad habits and aren't jaded. Good Luck
Question: risk manager career? what indusrty gives you the most pay, E.G fincancial risk manager
Answer: Either a risk manager at an investment bank or a hedge fund will pay extremely well if you're successful. But you've got to have a strong quantitative background and lots of experience modeling.
Good luck!
Question: how do you become a human resources, personnel, or risk manager? what courses or experience do you need?
Answer: you would probably need business management and accounting degrees. A couple of classes in physiology and speech would help allot.
Question: Would you rather your team have a manager who was a big risk taker OR not a risk taker at all? Assuming there is no happy medium in this case...
I don't give BAs to people who beg for them...sorry. But I did give you a thumbs up.
Answer: I don't mind a risk taker, as long as he's a smart one.
Brewers radio analysts are keeping an interesting stat for Ned Yost. Games Influenced. So far, he leads the league with 11. The Brewers won 2 of those. So Ned is 2-9 in games where he takes potential game changing risks. So 19% of the risks Ned makes work. Not exactly someone you want for a contending team.
It's funny how people here put him up for Manager of the Year, when they don't know of this should-be recorded stat.
Question: What are three circumstances in which a fund manager is generally not able to reduce risk in a portfolio?
Answer: 1) If the manager wants to earn a return above the risk-free rate, he/she must take on risk.
2) If the manager deviates from the market portfolio, he/she must take on stock-specific risk.
3) If the manager buys anything other than cash, he/she takes on liquidity risk. (That is, in a market crisis, a ready market might not be available for the manager's securities.)
Question: Certified Risk Manager/Professional? Which is highly recognized in the industry? Please specify.
There are various certified "risk" professionals or managers. I am asking which designation is most widely recognized/accepted. ( Finance industry)..
Answer: I do not understand - are you asking if you should use "professional" or "manager" when applying for a job or presenting yourself? And which industry are you referring to. The nuclear industry probably has different titles than the construction industry.
Question: Why is important for the project manager to know risk tolerances of the project stakeholders? CIS Project Management Graduate Level Course
Answer: Their risk tolerances are in indication of their willingness to accept project risk. Different stakeholders may have different risk tolerances.
As decisions on the project are made its important for the project manager to know which solutions are likely to meet the risk tolerances of the stakeholders.
Its also important to understand the risk tolerances so you know which project risks require more detailed risk planning and possible mitigation.
Question: I'm interested in getting an Associat of Risk Management certification. What is the best way? I'm a risk manager/safety officer for my company (7 million budget, 13 sites, 80 full-time employees.) I was told the ARM is a good way to improve my professional education and marketability. How do most people go about getting this certification? Does it pay to go to an on-line university ad do additional class work, or should I go straight for the required courses and just test out?
Answer: Take the course! It will be so much easier!
