Question: What's the difference between a chartered accountant and a certified general accountant? what's the difference in terms of what they do?
Answer: the educating body.
Nothing
(one is more acclaimed but they have the same function and are both legal to sign corporate returns
Question: What kind of interview questions to ask a general accountant for an entry level position? and what would be a good answer to them?
Answer: Ask questions about their company, company culture, their expectations of you in this role, to show that you care about the career choice you are going to make...and also ensure that it is important to you that you go to work for a company that is a good fit. As to questions about the job itself...ask for general overview of duties, ask them to describe a typical day so there are no surprises if you do get the job, ask them why position is open, what they are looking for or is most important to them in the candidate they choose to hire, ask about any specific software you would be using, how they train their employees, etc. Just be yourself at the interview, be confident and sell yourself and the ability that you are confident you can do the job and that you want the job. Believe it or not most people forget to ask for the job at the conclusion of the interview. Good luck!
Question: How do I become a Certified General Accountant? what do i do after highschool? I know that I need to get a bachelor's degree in any area, but then what?
Answer: No, not a bachelor's degree in any area. You go to university and take business and accounting. That is where you will get your BA. Then, you move on to a master's degree. that will make you a Certified General Accountant. The government most likely will not take just any high school graduate with a BA. Especially if you think you can get a BA in anything and work for the government. Also, as something else to do while you are studying, you should get a job at a bank, even as at Teller. This will keep you involved with money.
Question: Is that good for me to register in certified general accountant program? It cost me too much and I have to finish that in limited time,by the way english is my second language and I have to study in english.
Answer: I have found that my accounting background was a major force in my ability to conduct business over the years. Most people have to hire outside help to make business decisions that I made on my own. Stick with it.
Question: Where is the best place to start working as an Accountant in general? I want to do Accounting and especially in Auditing, so where is the best company to work as an Accountant, and what's the starting salary?
Thank you!
Answer: The best place to start as an auditor is "The Big 4", including PWC, Deloitte & Touche, Ernst &Young and KPMG.
The second best place are "Tier 2" auditing firms like Grant Thornton, BDO Seidman and some big local players.
The third best place is a small local audit firm. You'll need to get your audit hours in order to get credit toward your CPA.
It's been quite some time since I started at a Big 4 accounting firm, but my ballpark guess (using my starting salary and then bootstrapping it using CPI), means that starting salaries should be about US$38,000/year and you get a good chunk of time off during the summer.
Question: Whats a better job : Certified General Accountant or a Chartered Accountant? And tell me why if its not too much of a hassle.
Answer: If I am not mistaken, Chartered Accountant (CA) is considered to be the highest qualified accountant in Canada. I worked for a CA for nine years. I'm not sure of the requirements now, but several years ago it took five years study and articling under a CA to pass some very rigid tests allowing you become a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. I'm not sure of the study requirements of a Certified General Accountant (CGA), but I think it was something like three years. They may have their own institution as well, but I was of the understanding that the course was not as demanding as the CA. I believe there is some specific corporate accounting jobs that demand the services of a CA only, but for most accounting work, a CGA is all that is required. It depends on your long-range goals as to which one you choose.
Question: is a certified general accountant degree recognised in india?
Answer: I don't think so, sorry about that.
Question: What r the salaries for a Chartered Accountant, certified management accountant& certified general accountant?
Answer: Check out salary.com -- I don't believe you are given the same respect here as a CPA commands. But , if you have a decent amount a specific experience you will be fine. After 5 years experience salary should be somewhere between $70,000 - $105,000.
If you are in a management role such as a contoller it will depend on the company size, etc.
Question: How do I fill in a general ledger for an accountant to work from.......have 2005 years reciepts? I am organizing someones business reciepts for the and they brought me a general ledger to fill in with totals.....? I am not sure how to list them.
Answer: On the debit side (left hand page) fill in all the deposits (income) and on the credit side (right hand page) fill in all the payments (expenses). This is actually your cash account that should be reflective of your bank account. You should perform a bank reconciliation to make sure that your cashbook (cash account) ties back to your bank balance on your bank statement.
Question: What is the difference between Full Charge Bookkeeper and General Ledger Accountant?
Answer: A full charge bookkeeper can do any kind of bookkeeping, payroll, taxes, debits, credits, ordering, just any of the bookkeeping things. A General Ledger Accountant just does debits and credits in a general ledger account, i.e., money took in vs. money spent.
Question: i want to know what qualification it require to become an accountant general? i mean the qualification ,terms of service and all the things i need to know about them
Answer: in the US, you just need to pass the CPA exam. most accountants have a four year degree in with a BBA in Accounting.
Question: general accountant or chartered accountant? how difficult is it to become a chartered accountant and how long does it take? i know they can get lots of money (however is that true?) and do they have time to enjoy it? or is there better career options in the business field that might give you a little less pay but more time to enjoy yourself (which) ?
please dont post links, just tell me from your own experiences please, and maybe from your experiences as an accountant. Also do you think business/accounting courses in university are as difficult as science and the lab courses?
Answer: accounting courses for me is very easy. there are very formulas to memorize unlike in sciences. what you need are a good analytical skills, perseverance, patience and attention to details. its best you to become a chartered accountant because the career possibilities are wide and they are paid well depending on the type of organization you are in. personally i don't like the field in taxation because we always get stress out running after tax deadlines and you have very little time to enjoy your family. if you like to travel go for audit. the monotonous one is in accounting but the very challenging one is in the finance field.
Question: CGA (Certified General Accountant) in Canada? I have completed BBA in India and I want to persue CGA (Certified general accountant) course, particularly in Alberta province in Canada. Pls suggest best college/university available in Calgary.
Answer: Through the CGA Association and SAIT, students across Canada and throughout the world have the opportunity to work toward the CGA professional designation and a degree concurrently.
The SAIT degree has been designed to fully satisfy the CGA degree requirement. It is available through part-time distance learning and in a classroom setting at SAIT. This arrangement provides students requiring a degree with an excellent and very efficient option to meet the CGA degree requirement, as well as the opportunity to combine their professional accounting designation with highly demanded information technology skills and training.
Question: Certified General Accountant? Someone explain to me the difference between the fields you can go into once you have the designation. Also, give examples of where you would work if you were in that field.
Only industries and examples in Canada please.
Answer: Well, until you get certified, you are NOT an "official" accountant. You will most likely work as an auditor or some other low-ranking position (at an approved CA firm) until you have enough work experience to take the UFE. When you do pass the UFE, you are certified, and thus you can call yourself an accountant.
With a CA, CGA or CMA, your options are limitless. You can work in almost ANY field in finance, including accountant (at a big firm, you rake in big money ex. PriceWaterhouseCooper, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, BDO), financial advisor, investment banker, financial analyst, management, etc.

Question: Who makes more money -> Computer Engineer OR Certified General Accountant (CGA)?
Answer: Don't choose your job by how much money you think you'll make. Choose to do what you love.
If you do work that you love, it will be like you never really have to work a day in your life.
If you hate what you do, the next 40 years of your life will suck.
But to answer your question, it depends where you live. A computer engineer in India makes as much as somebody who flips burgers in New York. Even if you live in New York, that guy in India wants your job. And since you can do computer work from anywhere on the planet--he'll eventually get it too.
There's a shortage of Accountants in Australia right now, but too many of them in France. Everything changes over time. Fixing typwriters used to pay good money at one time...then, not so good anymore if you get my drift.
An accountant really only has to learn once. Things in accounting change slowly. A computer engineer has to learn completely different things every few years. When I was in school they used "Pascal" as a programming language. And C++. They don't use those things any more. 40 year old programers who only know those languages are on the unemployment line and the 20 year olds are making the big bucks. Until what they know passes into computer history and they're 40 and unemployed and the new crop of 20 years old who know what's new comes along.
Do something you love. If you love what you do, you will be excellent at what you do, and somebody will pay for it.
If you're just about the money, forget both of those and just be a drug dealer. Or an investment banker. Or a lawyer.
