Question: am seeking information about a next of kin scam, originating in China? the scam takes the form of letters, supposedly from the principal assurance manager of Hua Xia bank, named either Henry cushen or Philip Wong, offering to name the recpient of the letter as beneficiary of a deceased estate, in return for a 50-50 split of the assets.
Answer: http://antifraudintl.org/showthread.php?t=22151
The IP address indicates that it is in fact from Nigeria. No surprise there, most of these type of scams originate from there. It's the standard NOK (Next of Kin) scam.

Question: if you have had several jobs with a single company, do you list all the jobs on your resume? I had a job for 10 years, started as a secretary and ended as a quality assurance manager but had no direct reports. Should I list all the jobs I had with that one company, and how do I go about doing that so that my resume doesn't look like I've had 6 jobs in 10 years...?
Answer: Yes you do along with the pay rate for each.
Question: Can I get an Internship with a Big Four Accounting Firm? I am interested in getting an Internship with one of the Big 4 Accounting Firms. I have been accepted into the PPA program and where I will be working on my BA and Master's in Accounting. I currently have a 2.9 Overall GPA, due to a tough major my freshmen year while maintaining a high Business School GPA around 3.25. I currently work as a Call Center Quality Assurance Manager at a smaller division for Chase Bank for the past year and a half. Extracurricullars include serving as President of my Service/Social Fraternity for one year. These internships are highly competitive and I am wondering if I would even be considered in the running for one of these internship positions with the Big Four. Any information will be helpful. Thanks.
Answer: Yes, you would be a candidate, but it would help if you could get your overall GPA a little higher. I work for Ryan, which is not considered "Big 4", but is a competitor of theirs, and we require a GPA of 3.0 in order to be hired. I'm assuming it's probably about the same for the Big 4.
Question: Why do scientists get paid so little? I found these jobs advertised in the New Scientist and wondered why the pay was so little.
Royal Botanical garden Kew. Quality Assurance Officer. £21000 pa.
Medical Research Council. Quality manager. £25000 pa.
Cefas( dept of enviroment) Marine environment officer.£19000 pa.
City and Islington college. Lecturer in applied science. £25000 pa.
So what's your take on these kind of salaries?
Market forces get us all in the end?
B**d Mkt Fcs
Answer: I guess it's because all they do is research but if they found a cure, than they would get paid ALOT!
They aren't treating anyone; yeah they may have the title of doctor but they are just researchers.
I wonder the same thing about teachers! Because, there wouldn't be any of todays professions, without having someone teach you on how to become a doctor, lawyer, nurse, etc...
Question: How can I be more assertive at work? Sometimes, because I feel that I need to have every detail taken care of, I go to my boss or to other co-workers and ask them for their opinion on what I am doing. I feel that I am projecting an image of lacking self-assurance. I have also been assigned with new tasks which I find challenging and because of the fear of failing, I find myself projecting insecurity and hesitation to managers within the "upper management" echelon. What suggestions would you give me to hide or, at least, project a little more confidence in my ability to carry out my tasks? I know I have the talent and the know-how, I just need to project that a little more.
Answer: I was partying with this guy when I was about 18 years old. He noticed that I hung my head a lot of the time, especially when stressed. He asked me, "Did you get picked on a lot in school?". I sheepishly answered "yes...". He said to me, "Don't ever hang your head. Whoever you do this to will take it as a sign of weakness. Always look people straight in the eye, even it's your boss chewing you out for something that you actually did. NEVER hang your head - when you do, you are admitting defeat."
Do you ever hang your head?
If so, stop now.
Question: Why does Circuit City not honor their Price Assurance? I bought something and then found it 800 bucks cheaper I just tried to buy three TVs for the new house at Circuit City. I bought the TVs on Thanksgiving and intended to pick them up instore with a UHAUL last Thursday Nov 30th. On Nov 27th I found the same package at Circuit City selling for 800 dollars less. I called and asked if they could price match for me and they said yes and to just print the page and bring it in store. To make a long story short. I went in the store and Circuit City manager told me he couldn't possibly come down 800 dollars even though I had the information printed out. They did not honor the guarantee and I made them refund what would have been about a 5000 dollar sale. I will never do business with Circuit City again.
If you are looking to buy any electronics around Christmas or for the New Year I would steer clear of them because of this. I ended up buying the rest of the stuff at Best Buy and Boscovs. Can someone tell me what I did wrong?
Answer: wow..... obviously Circuit City's lose
thanks for the input.. I found the Circuit City near here..to be very good .. but i would do the same thing..and get the refund..and go elsewhere..
good luck and congratulations on finding stuff cheaper..
i got my exchange on a copier which was only $40
a Hewitt Packard and with technology changing so much felt lucky. to get the $40 drop refunded in Circuit City..
Question: I work for a national company, I am a member of a national union. I would appreciate advice? Eight years with the company. I worked 40 plus Saturdays for over 2 years, to finance a holiday of a life time, saved all my holidays, applied for extended leave, this was granted.
Returning to work, I informed my manager that I would work one Saturday per month, as I had jobs to do at home.
There was to be a rotate, set up. This was never done.
A list for Saturday working was displayed but you had to commit to working 49 Saturdays per year to qualify for £10 per hour. I sent a letter to union headoffice, the reply came back, saying this was wrong. Since this time, I have raised the matter with union rep, line manager, area manager, each one gave me verbal assurance that this would be sorted out. To date I have never been asked to work a Saturday. I have kept all letters. The only way I could get Saturday work now is to cower to the gangmaster who runs Saturdays overtime, this I will not do. Okay I upset the depot union rep, but even union headoffice said I was correct.
Answer: There's never a guarantee for OT mate, you always have to kiss up to get it and no Union reps can do jack about it.
Sounds horrible, but so is working in such firms dude...sorry to be blatant

for the first three post so far I just want to say thank you for being honest about the literature on the question I asked about. It could not be more clear as to what it is that I needed from all of you. I do agree that it is a bit much. I have my original resume but I created this one which is waaaay too much info.
I wish I could pick all of you for best answer.
Answer: Wow, I really can't stand this resume. It is simultaneously vague and overly specific, full of laundry lists of disjoint items, it give me no feel at all of who you are and what you are really capable of doing. Please avoid the buzzwords. Nobody knows what YOU mean when you list "Administrative culture" as one of your qualifications.
Write something that is more of a narrative that give me an idea of what you are looking for and what are your strengths. Demostrate to me that you can write in complete, coherent sentences that actually say something.
Question: I just received 2 e-mails from a man from Nigeria trying to send money to USA saying I get 40% of 11.5 million This man is claiming to be a Bank Manager @ Assurance Bank LTD and is need of an foreigner to transfer the money to. Claiming that he will get 60% of 11.5 Million and I will receive 40%. This is a scam I know, but this needs to be stopped before someone responds and does what tthis man asks.
Answer: Your best option would be to shoot him with a large caliber, if you can find him.
Question: Is Quality Assurance a good Career Path? I'm a recent graduate considering a Quality Specialist position at a good medical device company. My degree is in medical engineering. I would eventually like to go into R&D or just design in general eventually. However, I've heard that people in QA get stuck in QA. I've also heard that QA jobs are horrible and that it has a high turnover rate because employees are unhappy doing the job. The way the economy is, I'm inclined to take the job, but don't want to get myself stuck in a career path that I'll hate for the rest of my life.
Although, I also think I could fit for the job. I enjoy writing and do it pretty well. I'm good at communicating with people and I would like to travel. I think it could be a path to becoming a Project Manager or perhaps a senior Engineer or something along those lines. Is it possible/unlikely to go from a QA background to a Project management or Design role?
At a crossroads..Help! TIA(Thanks in advance, not This is Africa)
Answer: I think we should differentiate between quality CONTROL and quality ASSURANCE.
Quality control is truly a boring and ingratitude job, because you are not really creative, but constantly against the tide, because you point out workers' mistakes, engineers' design flaws, and hold-up production which managers (usually) don't appreciate.
Quality assurance can (and should be) part of IPD (integrated product development), and as such be attached to R&D. Anyway, "modern thinking" is to design a product in such a manner that quality issues are minimized by design, rather than "controlled into the product" at the end of production.
Question: McCanns: to assemble a new media team from the fund ? While Esther McVey (a former GMTV presenter and schoolfriend of Kate McCann) the director and spokesperson for the find Madeleine fund, has assured us that the fund will not be used for the McCanns legal expenses; no such assurance is forthcoming regarding the payment of the McCanns Public Relations team.
McCanns campaign manager Justine McGuiness leaves her post this Saturday after her contract runns out and with the change for the worst in their PR the McCanns have been advised to get a fresh media team in - PR costs big money and they still have £1000,000 fund money still sitting in the bank.
Are the McCanns to assemble a new media team from the fund ?
Source: London Evening Standard
Answer: This fund should now be frozen until the judge decides the fate of the McCanns. (Where are all the tears for their missing daughter?)
Question: How long should I wait for maintenance request to be done by our property manager? Assurance Property Management Group, Acworth GA (APMG ) is a property management group that manages the property that we are currently renting. We have been renting from APMG since April of 2009. During this time we have had several major service issues that have not been responded to in a timely manner. Each service issue has to be approved by the owner of the property that we are renting from which is acceptable but we should not have to wait for either APMG (which I believe is managed and owned by a single individual, Karen Sherard) to return from a weekend out of town event/vacation or the owner (who we have never been in contact with) returns from being out of the country.
We have had two major maintenance requests and the house is currently under a home warranty with AHS thus no wait should be warranted because most times there's usually a minimal service fee for repairs, with normal wear and tear, etc. Our first service issues was the AC unit was down. After reporting this issue on a late Thursdays evening or Friday via email and phone, I had to follow-up the next evening because we received no response and was told the APMG was out of town and would not return until Monday mind you this was the beginning of the summer, we were only in the house a little or a month and and have a 2 year old toddler thus had to suffer with the heat and be inconvenienced by letting up windows, etc for 3-5 days, because she did not call AHS. We had to wait Thur the wk-end in our PAID, hot rental with our 2 year-old for her return and the owners approval of ~$60. We still had to wait for AHS next avail date of Tuesday or Wednesday before they were able to come out. This tells you that she only cares about either the money and/or her clients not about her tenants! Without the tenants she would have no business.
Now here we are again and with plumbing issues, the pipe underneath the kitchen sink is broken to the point where it has detached from the main pipe thus we can't run water, cook, wash dishes, or sanitize our kitchen because we have to eat and drink thus dirty dishes. I reported this current issue on Wednesday night (its now Sunday) again I had to call on Thursday evening to follow up and was told that owner is out of the country until Monday thus need approval. We informed APMG at that time that this matter needed prompt attention before Monday and asked if AHS could be called, not without owners approval is what we were told. This is unacceptable because if you are managing a property you should have full control over issues like this one and/or authority to approve any service request up to a certain dollar amount in your clients absence, especially if your client is out of the country and you cannot contact them for major issues. I contacted APMG again on Friday afternoon to follow-up because she said she would relay our message to the owner and no response other than an email accepting my original request at 1:00 AM Saturday morning and she mentioned that our request was forwarded for approval. This is not right, we should not have to wait 5 days (48 hours should be sufficient) for our kitchen sink to be fixed and its not functional; we pay $1100 a month for rent and its current; it seems that whatever time frame she gives us is how long we will have to wait. Now its Sunday no word, I guess she will call on Monday (like she said) before anything gets done then how much longer after wards. We have to be inconvenienced with AHS time frame or one of their many contractors (one contractor is the owners and the other is APMG) to see who will charge the least before getting the job done. This is a bunch of bull. They want their rent on time and after the 3rd its a late fee thus this should be the case, with tenants, money should be deducted from the rent after the 3rd day of a major service request not rendered. I can understand if it was a minor maintenance request but to us either one was not. Twenty-four to forty-eight hours is enough time and usually the time frame given for apartment renters and other home renters, regardless of who owners it.
There has been other issues but these two issues I believe needed to be addressed because tenants should not be treated this way. We have had to dine-out to avoid using our kitchen thus its not acceptable; were spending unnecessary money to save them money by waiting for them to do their jobs in maintaining this property appropriately and being inconvenienced while waiting for them to return from their vacations or to take care of service issues whenever they feel like it.
I am sure that APMGs other tenants may be experiencing the same issues because they don't have reliable maintenance personnel either, they contract their service requests out to the lowest bid and the work performed is less than satisfactory. They inconvenience you with multiple contractors that interrupt your day to get the lowest bid before doing the job.
We would like for AP
Answer: ac unit not working is not an emergency issue infact by law they do not even have to repair it as it is an extra not a necessity like running water, heat or a stove. emergency issues are gas leaks, water pipe breaks, sewage in your bathtop, flooding. a broken kitchen sink is also not an emergency. it may be an inconvinience to your family but it is not violating any land lord tenant laws or state laws. if you do not like them ask them to let you out of your lease. if they refuse then take them to small claims court. however there is nothing wrong with what they are doing this is common business practice for any land lord not just a property management company.
Question: Vegetarianism problems? I currently work at Chili's as a Quality Assurance Expeditor, on the road to becoming a manager. I'm also an avid vegetarian. I feel that if I continue this path once I get out of college, I'll be a hypocrite. My folks and everyone think I'm insane for being a vegetarian.
The only problem is the hospitality industry is exactly where I want to be.
Any opinions?
Answer: You need to do what's best for you. Who cares what everyone else thinks. If you're okay with working in a restaurant, then do it. If you're not, then look for something else. It doesn't make you a hypocrite. It's just like someone who works at a grocery store, or hell, even BUYS their stuff at a grocery store. They/We aren't hypocrites for that. Besides, if you're on the inside you have more input in making things more veggie-friendly for the rest of us. :)
Question: Problem With My Work? I recently quit my job, thinking, with my managers assurance, that I would get paid my leftover vacation. this is my last week there, and today they called and said they wouldn't be paying me, because I am currently part time, but I haven't been part time all year, in fact this is recent. Is what they're doing right? Should I continue until my last scheduled day, which is this Friday? Is there something I should do? Or should I just let it go?
Answer: What state are you in? In California, vacation time is earned so that once you leave, you're entitled to be paid for that time (sick leave, on the other hand, apparently is not considered "earned" and you wouldn't get paid for it when you leave).
It depends on what state you work in.
