Question: Accounting manager of a small company or an analyst for a big company, which is better for one's career? I am wondering for a long term career growth choice, would it be more beneficial to be an accounting manager of a small firm (less than 10 people), or a financial analyst of a mid-size company (about 1000 people). Thanks for the input.

Answer: Financial analyst for a mid-sized company. No one really cares about small companies these days (which is why I do start up and small business consulting)

Question: What type of issues might indicate a need for training in accounting manager? a. A supervisor requests training on the speclized technology required by 5 employees b. the customer service manager reports a sudden increase in calls about poor handling of repeat complaint calls. c. The CEO requests team effciency training to address the declining numbers of employees attending quarterly pep rallies. From what sources would these issues be identified? If you were a training manager, how would you prioritize training needs?

Answer: Definitely the pep rally answer. If your accounting manager doesn't seethe enthusiasm for the team, he/she needs to immediately be shipped to a re-education camp for a minimum of 6 months.

Question: What's the difference for Accounting manager and Controller in a company ? Have any different job function?

Answer: Big difference, the controller is in charge of all operations, the accounting manager is just in charge of accounting.

Answer: Who wants to be an accountant? Boring.

Question: Is it better for an organization to have managerial accounting or better if the manager have that skills? My project about the need of managment accounting and i want to know what is better for the organization if they use a managerial accounting report's or if the manager have the managerial accounting skill's? and what is the result for both of them?

Answer: IMO it's better for managers to have this skill. If the accounting department provides standard reports (performance to budget, cost of goods sold, balance sheet, etc.), experienced managers can interpret the data as it pertains to their business function or unit. Reliance on a centralized managerial accounting function diminishes the performance accountability of individual managers. it may also result in a lower caliber managerial staff, since managers who do not have the ability to analyze and interpret financial data are often less skilled than those who do.

Answer: Depending on the type of business, and the company, an AM can do many things. In this case I would lean toward the management of a group of clients that this Marketing firm already has. A Sales Manager works to get new business, and an Account Manager works to keep current clients. You likely would be in contact with clients, work with them to discover their needs and try to fill those needs with your great ideas.....It should pay VERY well........or at least you should have the opportunity to move up in the company very quickly, based on your ability to impress the clients....

Answer: At an outset would like to congratulate for your achievement. It is really a big thing that president has invited you for business lunch. keep it up. A/C manager is very responsible position where you will be handling a certain set of clients who give repetitive business to your company. The plethora of your activities will revolve around servicing those clients. You need to generate inquiries from them and then provide solutions based on the brief. Well it is very responsible position and you need to work really hard b'coz these are the clients who have already seen the quality deliver-ables from your company so you their is a fixed expectations build with in the business, you need to stand up to their expectations level and then perform. Well salary will vary but definitely you can ask for 20-25% increment on your current package. you can justify it by saying the same thing which i have mentioned above. All the best
