Answer: An account executive in most companies is a sales person in charge of certain customers/accounts. He/she is responsible for either certain companies or certain product lines however it is set up. The object of their job is to services the customers and increase sales by increasing customers or share with existing customers.

Answer: I did the opposte. I got 2 degrees (BS&MBA) in international marketing, and couldn't find anything with an ad agency (moving to NYC was not an option at the time). I ended up working for a corporation in customer service, and then operations, all the while hoping to transition to maketing and, ultimately, an agency. I'm on my way - I now work as our worldwide marketing procurement rep. I work with internal people in corporate postitions - branding, events, promotions, PR, etc, and of course our agencies, media placement firms, event marketers, etc. This might be a good transitional position for you. Answer: Sells advertising. I would think you would need proven sales experience to apply. As far a travelling it depends on whether or not the companies you sell to are local or national and how large an area is served by the station. If the program is nationally syndicated I would think more travelling would be necessary.
