Answer: I would to a lot of research on VPN's. That stands for virtual private network. Your IT department should have ways of setting this person up. If you are the IT department, I would suggest contracting some professionals to come in and set it up for you and to make sure it is secured. That way you don't leave something out which would expose the entire network to unwelcome visitors. Then, I would also read up on the different types of programs to encrypt the entire hard drive of the laptop. Laptops are stolen all of the time now and is a huge scare for IT depts. not knowing what the employees had lost datawise. Depending on the version of Windows, BitLocker is one step in that direction. I would also encrypt all transmission across the internet with the laptop because you don't want the VP to allow adware/spyware and viruses into the network or to steal their passwords.
