Question: Who does a Vice President of Finance work for.?
Answer: The owners of the company
Question: Should I become vice president of student government or travel abroad with my only chance to travel abroad? I am currently a freshman in college but an running for Vice President of Finance for my universities student government. But I also got accepted to travel to the US Virgin Islands for school next semester. I originally did not think I would get accepted. After being accepted I am now faced with the problem of dropping out of my race for Vice President and taking my only opportunity to travel and comming back next year and running for vice president considering I have 6 years of college for my major.
When replying with an answer, please keep in mind I an in year 1 out of 6. and with my school you are only allowed to travel abroad 1 time with my school. So this is really my only opportunity. Which is why I am stuck on what to do, and am looking for some simple advice.
I am a accounting major and the vice president opportunity will definatly help me in the future.. but I can run next year.
Answer: Sounds like you already know the answer. Traveling will help a lot more since like you said there are plenty of chances to run for VP and you are not even guaranteed victory. As for the trip to the Virgin Islands you only have this one chance and it is guaranteed. I'd would definitely choose the trip.
Question: What is a good salary to ask for, for a controller/office manager position that will turn into vice president? What is a good salary to ask for, for a controller/office manager position that will turn into vice president?
of finance? I was thinking 20.00 + but I am not a cpa and this is in cheap florida? also the job starts out 20-25 hours a week, but the president told me that the company will boom the next few months and he needs someone to take over the whole finance department. the hours would then go to 30-35 hours a week, but he said the hours are VERY flexible.
Answer: You should first take a look at what benefits are going to be offered to you. A lot of companies require you to work a certain amount of hours to be eligible for Medical insurance and such. If you are only working 20-25 hours per week you might not be eligible to purchase discounted employee benefits. If this is the case you will be paying an arm and a leg for benefits if you decide to purchase them on your own. If you will be able to get benfits as a part-time employee then you should look at what your bills are and how much you will need. You should never base your pay based on what "might" happen but what you actually have now. So if you are going to be working 20-25 hours you need to make sure you are able to pay bills, etc. There are 2,000 hours in an average work year (40 hours per week with two weeks off for holidays and vactation). So to figure out what your hourly rate equals as a yearly income you just multipy your hourly rate by 2,000. so if you want $20/hr you are looking at making $40k. Since you are only working 20 hours you will make $20k. $20k seems like a really low salary even if it is part time. Keep in mind this is BEFORE taxes, can you survive on that? Good luck.
Question: Can you see Oprah Winfrey as Vice President with Al Gore in 2012 elections? Oprah Winfrey as Vice Prez of the USA, with Al Gore as PREZ! Can anyone see that? And if you don't, why? If you do, why? Explain. I do see it happening when she went out with Obama. Before they asked her if she would ever do it, and she was in that phase of "I don't want my finances revealed" but now things are different with a black candidate, so could anyone see Oprah and Al as leaders of this country in 2012 elections?
Answer: Oprah Winfrey can win due to his popularity with Al Gore as President in 2012 if people will be convinced that global warming is not a myth.
Question: Is it common in the Finance industry to have many officers? I have a former colleague who tells me that in their company almost all of them are officers having at least Associate Vice President rank.
Is it common in the finance industry and what does it translate to other industries?
Answer: Not essentially so. The levels and number of people working in an organisation totally depends on the hierarchical structure that a company follows.
Question: Okay put your thinking caps on for a moment........Lets Talk finance? Okay Say for instance, You are working in the finance department of an Information Technology company. Recently, there has been an unexplained increase in employee back injuries that have left several employees unable to work for varying amounts of time. The Department of Labor and Industries is threatening to increase your employer costs substantially unless this trend can be reversed. What if the the Vice-President of Finance asks you to conduct action research into this issue. As an insider, what will be your focus and how will you conduct this research?
Answer: Focus: Investigate out what is causing the increased injuries all of a sudden. Has there been a change to procedures, or increased work load?
Corrections: Are you in full compliance with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) If you can prove full compliance you may be able to mitigate financial responsibility. Go to the OSHA website http://www.osha.gov/ and view the recommendations applicable to your industry. Maybe you just need to replace the chairs the workers use with more ergonomic ones. Perhaps you can institute a mandatory 10 minute stretch break after 2 hours at the desk?
specifically, see http://www.osha.gov/SLTC/ergonomics/cont…
Both work-related and non-work related conditions can either individually, or by interacting with each other, give rise to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). There are several approaches that may be used to determine whether conditions in the workplace might be contributing to employees developing MSDs. These approaches can be used individually or in combination.
Review and analyze injury and illness records to determine whether there is a pattern of ergonomic-related injuries in certain jobs or work tasks.
OSHA 300 Logs and supporting 301 forms (see the Recordkeeping Home Page for more information)
Workers' Compensation claims
Analyze the jobs or work tasks themselves to identify potential ergonomic problems before employee injuries occur. Determine if jobs present ergonomic risks that may contribute to musculoskeletal disorders.
Analysis tools may help in analyzing jobs. While there is no one size fits all approach, there are numerous non-OSHA, voluntary analysis tools that may be used to learn more about potential ergonomic risks associated with jobs.
Seek employee input about the existence of ergonomic problems related to particular jobs or work tasks. This may be accomplished, among other ways:
by speaking with employees
by conducting symptom surveys
through use of employee questionnaires
Be aware of common contributing conditions within your industry or job classifications. If other companies in the same industry have ergonomic-related problems, then it is possible these potential problems are also your concern.
Obtain information from others in your industry:
to see what problems others have experienced in their operations
to gain a better understanding of potential problems that may exist in your workplace.
Question: Is it true that Rasmussen is going to stop polling for Hillary? National polling firm Rasmussen Reports announced on Friday that it will stop polling people about the presidential campaign of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton because her opponent, Sen. Barack Obama, will win the Democratic nomination.
The company's vice president of finance and operations, Michael Boniello, distributed an e-mail stating that after 19 months of tracking the Democratic race, it is now clear that Clinton will remain a close second.
Answer: It appears that they will halt on polling things about HIllary. Just read an article that said they'll stop. There isn't much chance for Hillary right now. I don't think she'll win it.
Question: How much is he getting paid? A man I am related to works for a large american company (Bectin Dickinson) Pharmaceutics - he is the vice president of finance. He is able to afford a BMW (the newest model) and lives in a 4+1 bedroom 5 bathroom 3,500 sq feet house. Is this man a millionaire?
Yes, as a matter of fact, it IS my business.
I know that he pays 15, 000 USD a month for his house.
He's not in debt, you guys. Also, he banks with several banks.
Answer: A BMW, huh? You do realize BMWs range from 29,000 to over 100,000 depending on the model. Also there is now way to how much money someone has by what he "owns". He could be in horrible debt, or just not have any money left over after everything, or he could very well be a millionaire....
Question: Which of the following expenses incurred by a department store is an indirect expense? a. Insurance on merchandise inventory
b. Sales salaries
c. Depreciation on store equipment
d. Salary of vice-president of finance
Answer: I'm guessing C
Question: What does it say about Defeated Vice President Candidate Sarah Palin if she quit due to concerns over money? ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The former fiance of Gov. Sarah Palin's 18-year-old daughter says he thinks he knows why the Alaska governor is resigning — concerns over money.
Levi Johnston, 19, whose wedding to Bristol Palin was called off earlier this year, says he believes the governor is resigning over personal finances.
Johnston says he lived with the Palin family from early December to the second week in January. He claims he heard the governor several times say how nice it would be to take advantage of the lucrative deals that were being offered, including a reality show and a book.
"I think the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars," said Johnston, who has had a strained relationship with the family but now says things have improved.
Palin has a book deal, but compensation details haven't been disclosed. The governor has said she is facing more than $500,000 in legal fees.
Wang Chung: Exactly. Pure, Evil Greed!!!
Bo#44: Valid point
Concerned about money? Quit your job.
Answer: I'm not sure all what to make of her resignation.
On one hand she looked and sounded pretty ticked off when giving the interviews the other day.
On the other hand, she gave 5 TV network interviews, a magazine interview, and several other interviews that day while supposingly "salmon fishing" and wearing her waders....eg: big photo op.
I tend to think she's in it for the money. As for the legal expenses involving ethics charges, generally the state picks those up. So the fact that she ran up a $500k legal bill means she hired her own attorney to look into the allegations.
