Question: Does the director of human resources in a company have any authority to stop harassment? Does the director of human resourses in a company have any power over a VP to stop harassment or will the director protect the VP?
i.e. the VP personally dislikes an employee and humiliates that employee daily to make her quit so the company will not have to pay unemployment. The employee is very efficient and capable, jealousy seems to be the motive.
Answer: That is illegal and if they don't do anything to stop it, they will be in for a huge lawsuit.
Question: What is the best experience and academic background for a position as a director of human resources? I am an attorney working in labor and employment (defense litigation for corporations) and am considering an MBA to focus on human resources management.
Answer: I think both those things are an excellent start- you may also be able to find a school that does a graduate certificate (like a minor, but for graduate school) that could help you with HR.
Another one that I can think of that would be good is institutional psychology- I have seen some graduate certificate programs for that.

Answer: Parole Officer-- Someone who helps straighten out a person who just gets out of prison. When a man or women gets out of prison they have to do what the parole board says needs to be done and you would make sure that person stays on track and if not then you would have to get them back where they came from and the person(s) would be spending the rest of their jail/prison term behind bars.
Social Worker-- Ok this one is not to hard to explain this is a person who helps make sure children and Elderly are taken care of properly. Now this kind of person has to have a cold heart to a point and understand when to back off of a case as well as take care of what needs to be done. I have never been a person who would ever get into this area of work. Social Workers get beat up, yelled at, and threatened all the time. This job is one of the worste ones in the bunch you want more information on. This job is also needed so bad that it can take a mother or father over a year to get their kids back. As well as if the mother gets pregnant they cause hell by saying every chance they get that the mother and father will never see the unborn child. How I know this is cause I went through this one and it did take me a year to show my mom is crazy and if she gets off her meds then she shes things that arent there and a bunch of other things. It took me so long to prove I am a good mother and I got so sick while I was pregnant that I almost died having my daughter. I understand they were doing a job but they also saw a good home but still took my child. I got over $10,000 cause it was a wrongful case in their fault.
Human Resouces---Well I have never worked in this department my sister has though. I know they deal with the hire paperwork and first interview.

Answer: Schooling is by and large irrelevant; you need experience in human resources with progressively increasing responsibilities. To be seriously considered for a human resources director job, you need to be working directly under a human resources director now (say, as a senior HR manager or regional HR manager). Alternatively, you could have senior-level experience with a staffing and recruiting company or an HR/benefits consulting firm...
Question: How do I get a job as a Human Resources Director? Is it possible to get a job at that post right after I graduate from college? or do I have to have other experience before I apply for that post?
Answer: If your degree is in HR, you might be able to get a position as an HR asst or maybe a first level generalist/manager or you could work in Comp or a specialty like recruiting or OD and move over. Most of the time, those who are Directors of HR move from an Hr Generalist to Sr. Generalist, HR business partner or Manager in a specific function to a Director job. Most of the time you will have to have managed people, have some background in HR to know the technical/legal aspects and worked with the business so you know how HR applies in real life to the business functions like Finance, Sales and marketing or another. HR Directors also advise on Employee relations issues, recruit new employees, work on annual performance management and incentive plan recommendations, work on leadership development, apply state and local employment law (FMLA, unemployment, workers comp, etc) to real life situations. They need to be skilled professionals with a depth of experience usually. Your speed to director level will depend on your level of maturity and self awareness, business acumen (Masters helps here), ability to learn the technical aspects (certifications help here) and opportunities to work on these different aspects of HR (mentors and where you work help here).
Question: Human Resources director keeps asking me to call him? Is this a good or bad sign? He says there are other candidates for the position and asks me to call him every few days to check on the status. He says the manager of the department hiring is already interviewing this week so she doesn't have a chance to interview me. Is it common for HR managers to do this for a likely candidate?

Answer: It sounds as if your in the the running ,but on the outside fringe, to find out tell her,him that you have an interview with their closest compition,If they dont grant you an interview then, its time to start looking else where.

While you need to provide your Social Security Number for tax purposes, there are other ways to verify it besides showing them your card.

Answer: Of course, a newspaper is like a company so it hires and fires people ! There will always be an HR department (even a small one) ! Why don't you try and call those newspapers ?
