Question: What is the average salary of Inspection and Welding Engineer?
Answer: You're asking a good question!
There are established "pay curves" for engineering based on the discipline, geographic location, and years of experience. Employer's salary administrators obtain these curves and use them to define a "competitive" salary offer. (see link below)
Just Google "salary curves engineer" and go from there.
Government documents in the library also has pay curve information.
Since the salary for a welding engineer is dependent on the location (near your home or half-way around the world), you will need to narrow down the geographic location before looking up the salary. (A welding engineer on the Alaska Pipeline or oil platform gets paid more because the working conditions are more difficult/hazardous).
Depending on the job, you should expect somewhere in the range $50,000 to $100,000.
Question: How to be a professional welding engineer?
Answer: Join some institute to get certificates then join
a good company specially shipyard etc,
Question: how can i find a welding engineer? who have done this work for many year.
Answer: Actually, it's the American Welding Society, and while they don't commonly give out their member's names and addresses, I imagine if you contact them they'll put you in touch with your local chapter chairman. Try www.aws.org
Question: kindly help me please..for whom work as welding inspector,QC engineer..? i want to know if we want to fabricate an equipment (pressure vessel) that involve welding process,do we need WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) for each joints or enough only one WPS for all joints? The joints design are different...
refer to ASME BPVC Sec.IX,joint design is noneessential variable and changes in noneessential is not require requalifiqation...is this means that enough one WPS for each type of joints??
Answer: In ASME IX joint type is not an essential variable. Provided material, rod type, polarity, heat etc and all other essential variables are the same you can have as many joint designs as you like.
It would be best to specify all required joint types on the WPS for clarity and you might want to specify bead order and weave for each type but only one WPS is required.
Question: what's required to be a welding engineer?
Answer: Hard work & a BS In Welding Engineering or equivalent
Question: Hi, I want to study welding engineering . What is the most popular course for getting placement ?
Answer: ITS LIMITED TO PIPING ENGINEERING

Question: what is the difference between welding transformer and other power transformer.? i have learnt from engineers that welding transformer is different from power transformer. welding transformer's current will be high.but its load will be low.my actual doubt is current is always proportional to load.then how we can justify this logic that welding transformer's current rating is high and its load is less.
Answer: A welding transformer is generally a Step-Down transformer with variable secondary taps and very high secondary current rating (on the order of hundreds of amps) that will drive through what's essentially a shorted secondary without translating that back to the primary and tripping the supply side breaker. The frame and windings are designed to withstand large magnetic forces produced by the high current impulses. They're designed to withstand a lot of heat for short periods of time, and are almost always air cooled. Welding transormers are generally physically sized so they can be moved easily.
Power transformers as a group adjust line voltage depending on the application. They are designed to continuously handle high voltages (thousands of volts) and large amounts of current that doesn't vary much over short periods of time. In commercial and utility applications they are oil cooled. Most power transmission transformers are very large.
Question: looking for a welding and metallic engineering school around the world? hi
im studying welding..in ..morocco
and im looking for a welding school that i can join in the end of the next year so i appreciate any answer.
Answer: Virginia Tech has a great engineering program.
Question: is there any engineering jobs out there that involve some type of welding or welding inspection? i am going back to school for welding i would like to eventually earn my masters degree in welding and i was wondering what type of engineering jobs i would be able to get with a masters degree and earn the most money
Answer: Welding Engineer
Question: In welding: what is the pinch effect? i had a theoretical exam about welding (engineering student - naval archhitecture) and was asked the above question.
Answer: *inductance is also known as "pinch" or "the pinch effect". meaning that when a welder turns up the inductance dial the result is a narrower weld pool due to a more concentrated arc which will result in more spatter and less pen which will be the desired setting for sheet etc. if one turns down the inductance, one would encounter an alltogether different beast, a beast that wants to spread its molten metal in all directions with no regard for innocent bystanders and creating incredible build-up and arc energy along the way.
*AC/DC electric power supply is used to generate heat for many welding processes.Magnetic fields set up due to the flow of current through the electrode and the arc generate pinch effect and influence the welding arcs.
Arc blow, plasma streaming and metal transfer are some of the welding arc features strongly influenced by the presence of magnetic fields. All these and a number of other aspects of physics of welding.
Question: which universities offer welding engineering in MSc in USA?
Answer: http://www.weldingschool.com/
Question: how difficult is it to get a good job in engineering as in metal fabrication and welding in new zealand ? i am from england and am considering move to nz.i am a fabricator welder and would like to know a little about this trade in nz. ie: is there much work in this trade and what is the general wage in it good/reasonable/poor?
Answer: In New Zealand? I can't imagine your chances being very good. Move to a country where a lot of that stuff is going on.
Question: Where can I find the ASME or ISO codes for underwater welding? Hi, I'm in my last year at collage, production engineering, Alexandria university, our graduation project is about uderwater welding, which I recently decided to take as a career. We have a problem with getting the ISO or ASME standards or codes for underwater welding, and the proper codes for the weldig electrodes, so if any of u could help me with this issue, it would be a life saver.
Answer: Relevant specifications may include BSEN ISO 729/719 and or 15618-1
Question: Engineering: Welding & Boilermaking? Hey guys, im an apprentice engineer and im having a problem with a few questions in an Engineering workbook that was handed out at work, so here are the questions: Why are cylinder valves opened slightly then closed prior to connecting the regulators when setting up oxy-acetylene equipment? -and- give a general description of a suitable area for oxy-aceltylene welding if the job cannot be welded in a ventilated welding booth.
Many thanks and a huge appreciation to anyone who answers this question!
Liam
Answer: Cracking open an cylinder valve pryor to hooking up the regulators is away to clean out any debris or dirt in the connector, and also to check and see if its a full tank or not. Both methods are not very safe, as the oxygen pressure of a full tank could get away from you. Just a small amount of oil in the connection could detonate when the high pressure side of the oxygen valve is opened. It is better to wipe them out with a clean rag.
Any open area with plenty of ventilation can be used for welding, as long as you put up welding curtain's around the work area to protect bystanders from being exposed to the arc flash, and fumes. Its a good idea to have another person around be a fire watch, in case a fire is started by the sparks.
Question: How long is Marine MOS school for Combat Engineering Welding? and where is the MOS school located?
Answer: If you go to the marineparents website, somebody there will be able to answer this one for you! There will be two placed I'd look on the site... First, look at the MOS listings.. see what you can dig up there.. lots of GREAT information. Then, if you don't find it, check out the message boards on the RECRUIT side of the site... or jump into one of the live chat sessions... somebody there will be able to fill you in on the school info. The site is at http://www.marineparents.com It's the best site there is... and it's not just for parents.. but anybody who loves a Marine or Recruit.
