Question: What are top jobs for a Transportation Engineer? I want to know the best Locations to get the most cutting edge and "best" job related to transportation engineering in the USA. I am especially looking for model government agencies that could give me exposure to the field.
Answer: Designing roads, railroad tracks. DEsinging airports or bus systems. Desinging mass transit also.
Question: How do you become a traffic transportation engineer or a traffic planner? I would like to find a university in Virginia or New York with a degree appropriate for this major. Do I start with civil engineering? there isn't a specific degree anywhere I can find... help!
Answer: Yes its Civil Engineering to start with , i always like Transsportation but i didnt major in it coz the demand isnt that hi where i am , unless u have a very high GPA ,
i'm hwy & airports major , we use much of the transportation studies to design hwys for sure.
But Tranp. is much bigger than that , its about establishing subway/bus lines , airports or harbours ( the details of the hwy ntwk)
i think Virginia Tech is a good place .
if u can go further for the sake of transp. there is a whole university in germany that teaches tranp. related issues , there is even a college for every speciality in it say like railways , one of my prof. graduated there
Question: Can anyone tell me what do Caltrans normally ask in an interview for the position of Transportation Engineer? I have an interview and I have 12 years of experience (abroad) I really do not know what they ask here in US specially in Caltrans?
Answer: When I interviewed for the Transportation Engineer with Caltrans for Structure Construction, they asked me basic questions about earthwork and concrete. I was going for the entry level position so the question were very generic.
"What are the main elements of concrete?" is really the only question I can remember. I also remember some responses that had to do with safety and shoring. If you have 12 years of experience, I'm sure you'll have no problem, good luck.
Question: what is the scope of transportation engineering? can somebody give me the general idea about the scope of transportation engineering which involves highways, harbor dock, airport etc. are these engineers highly paid? do they get good jobs?
Answer: Transportation engineering deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of all forms of transportation infrastructure, from roads to airports to sea ports to bike paths, etc.
Most transportation engineers have degrees in civil engineering.
As a transportation engineer myself, I can tell you that we are pretty well paid compared to many professions, but we often make less than other types of engineers, such as mechanical or electrical engineers. This is in part because most transportation engineers are either directly or indirectly employed by the government, since most infrastructure is government owned.
I have found working as a transportation engineer to be quite rewarding personally (not just monetarily), and I would recommend it as a career.
Whatever career you decide to pursue, good luck!
Question: Which US state has better opportunities for transportation engineers? I m a fresh graduate in Civil Engineering... looking to build a bright future... what state(s) offer better opportunities for a transportation engineer? what about environmental engineers?
Answer: I would say the old NE Industrial states. They are looking to retool & modernize evereything. Also Florida with its influx of tourists & new residents can use your services.
Question: Where can I get a good (& free) statement of purpose of studying Transportation Engineering? Where can I get a good (& free) essay or statement of purpose for studying MS in Transportation Engineering in a US university?
Answer: here are some search results
Question: Firms to help pay for a graduate degree in structural engineering and/or transportation engineering? I am currently a sophomore Civil Engineering major at a mainly undergraduate college. Last summer I interned with a small structural engineering firm, and this summer I'm interning with a much larger company with offices across the country. I intend to go to graduate school and major in structural engineering and possibly minor in transportation engineering. I was wondering if it is common for larger engineering firms to help pay for graduate school? Also, next summer, I want to work away from home. Is it easier to transfer from one office location to another? Or should I just be looking into a co-op with a potential graduate school?
Answer: Most commonly you can pay for graduate school by getting a graduate assistantship, either in the form of a research or teaching assistantship. This usually includes a tuition waiver and a stipend.
However, some companies will hire you and pay for graduate school. Usually when you do that you will be working at the firm almost full time while taking classes. This generally takes about twice as long since you can't pull a full graduate load while working.
Question: what should I do if I want to do Master's in transportation engineering in canada in part time studies? I am a graduate in civil engineering and working as an engineer with a company that deals with Alberta Transportation.
Answer: check out what the universities in Canada are offering for a Master's
Question: Does anyone have the solution manual for Transportation Engineering and Planning 3rd by Papacsotas? I need the solution for this book....Transportation Engineering and Planning 3rd by Papacostas and Prevedouros
Answer: No but I have a book about a farting dog. Hope that helps!
Question: If The Path To Heaven Is So Narrow, Why Didn't God Hire A Transportation Engineer?
Answer: Because he sucks?
Sorry, babe. I'm kinda grumpy tonight.
