Question: I am applying to become an executive team leader for Target. Is Target a good company to work for? Is there any thing that I should know about Target that they don't tell you about. Especially any pros/cons about the Executive Team Leader position?
Answer: I worked for Target as an ETL a couple years ago right after college. Overall, the company was great as far as compensation, benefits, and the initial classroom training. What I discovered is that the quality of your experience with this company depends on the support of your District Team Leader and the individual store you're placed with. I was bounced around to 3 different stores, all with 3 different management styles and approaches to representing the Target brand. In my particular store I observed several unethical practices (including upper management gossiping about team members, hiring discrimination, employee discrimination, cutting hours to avoid benefit payout). I reported them to my District Team Lead and was told to go with the flow and stop making waves. I left not to long after that experience.
Pros: Nice salary, great benefits, excellent training
Cons: 50-60 hr work weeks, late closing nights, differences in individual store cultures, upper management ignoring major issues
A couple suggestions for you: pay attention closely in your training class, bond with other ETLs in training (they will be a great resource and relief for you), when you're placed in your store learn the store culture and get to know your team members, don't be afraid to ask for help but also don't be afraid to find some answers for yourself. It's a job with many opportunities and your experience may very well be much more enjoyable than mine. Regardless, it's a great starting point. Good luck to you.
Question: What is the difference between a Squad Leader and a Team Leader in the Army? I know what a squad leader is, but what does a team leader do?
Answer: An infantry squad typically consists of two teams. They can be designated as alpha and bravo. The squad leader has control over the entire squad but team leaders are in charge of their respective team. Each team has 5 soldiers and 1 is designated as the leader. Typically a team leader is an e-5 while a squad leader is typically an e-6. A team leader usually does a physical inspection of his team prior to a mission. He will check to make sure that each one of the team members:
1. has the correct equipment
2. has enough supplies and ammo
3. know exactly what their part of the mission is and what special tasks each team member is assigned to like aid and litter.
During a battle the team leader keeps the squad leader informed on the whereabouts and status of each one of his team members.
Typically the position of team leader is the first assigned leadership position for a nco.
Question: How would i introduce myself to team as a Team Leader? I have recently become a team leader of group of three people. Can some one help me to write an introduction email or note.
Answer: They already know you are the boss, don't overdo it.
Just send them a brief note of introduction and say like...you are anxious to start working with them and you are excited about the project or department.....ask them for help if you are moving...good areas to live, apartments ....etc...make them feel good and wanted.
Question: What is the differance between the Team Leader and the Manager? I want to know what the differance between the team leader, Supervisor and the Manager in one organization.
Answer: Team leader is usually not a supervisory position. In many organizations, it is an elected position (team members elect a leader). Supervisors and Managers are management employees.
Depending on the organization, they may have different duties and levels of authorities. You would have to look at whatever organization you are studying or look at the general literature.
Question: how to be a Project Manager from a Team Leader in software MNC? Currently I am working as a Team Leader in a Multinational Software Company and I want to be a Project Manager.... What shall I do for that ? MBA or any Project Management course or certification ?
Answer: Go to www.pmi.org and learn about the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. If you study for this exam, you will learn the theory behind many aspects of project management.
An MBA is overkill. It is great to get, but it is not needed for project management.
Question: What makes a football player a team leader? As a member of a team, what qualities in a teammate would make him/her a leader? or someone you want to go to battle with?
As a fan, how can you tell if a player is or can be a team leader?
Answer: I am very involved in the pro football world so, as a fan I am not sure if I would be able to tell. But, as someone close to the game, the qualities that make someone a leader are showing up to practice/games before everyone else, RESPECT for coach and other players, talent of course no one wants to be lead by the guy always on the bench, dedication and passion.
Question: How to change the attitude of my team leader towards me? I am practicing a team sport. The team leader (and leader of the club) does not like me...and basically ignores me !!! I like the sport (this is the only club around for this sport), and I feel this relationship wastes all the fun.
What can I do?
PS: The most horrible is that we are neighbors!
Answer: You really can't control how anyone thinks or acts. You are only able to control yourself and your actions. You can choose not to let this person's actions and/or words affect how you feel. It is what it is. Play the sport to the best of your ability, treat the leader as you want to be treated, have fun and let things happen the way they do.
Learning not to let others actions have an affect on you will be one of the best lessons you can learn.
Live and let live.
Question: What is the starting salary for a Executive Team Leader - Assets Protection at a Target store in Phila.? I'll be interviewing tomorrow and I'm wondering if anyone knows the starting salary for this position? If you are currently a Executive Team Leader - Assets Protection, do you enjoy the job?
Answer: I just happen to work for Walmart in Asset Protection. But , we make more money at our Distribution center, then the ones who work in a Supercenter.Target may be different.I make 17.60 an hour. But I also get an incentive check every 3 months, which comes out to another 75 cents on the hour.If you go higher up into supervisor, they make another 1.00 an hour then me, and from there the higher management team leader will make another 1.00 more. Now that's Walmart not Target.I enjpy the job, but it is alot of responsibility...Attention to detail...very small details, and alot of documentaion. You will be making sure that the building is safe in every way..From the structure, to it's associates..You will also be working to reduce theft, and in cost reduction. You will be the one that people will come to in a crisis. You are management support. and.operations support.Everyone comes to us for the answers, and we better know what they are, and what to do.You will not always be appreciated as you are a part of terminating people, and writing them violations. it is not always a pleasant job, and not for everyone. There are 18 of us, for a huge operation of 850 people, working 24/7.We have to maintain the highest of intergrity at all times.Good luck on your interview..
Question: What is team leader personal target should be? hi guys what is team leader personal target should be in a call centre.
and what ideas could a team leader do for the team. remember its a call centre.
Answer: In a call centre I imagine that calls are recorded and monitored and individual operators are given some sort of performance grade. As team leader you would have a personal target to develop the efficiency of your team to its fullest by training and perhaps mentoring.
Also presumably your management sets more crude performance measures like number of calls answered in a particular time period.
You should be aware of how the performance of you and your team are monitored and what performance goals there are. If you are not then ask your manager.
In terms of ideas for improvement you should examine the performance of your best team members and try and apply the lessons from them to improve the training of other team members. One good way of achieving this is to hold team discussion groups to get ideas from all team members which can be discussed by the group.
A key factor in the performance of call centre operatives is the level of information they have availble to them on line and its ease of access. Can this information be improved? Can it be more easily accessed.
At another level it is now possible to use neural network software to analyse incoming questions and suggest the best answer instantaneously. Such systems after a period of development can greatly increase the productivity and effectivness of call centre staff. The market leader in this area of software is etalk from Autonomy see:

This would require a substantial investment.
