Answer: Today for the IT/IS world it doesn't matter how many years you spend in university. This is a benchmark. This field changes every six months and so you must look at industry certification. Question: How much does a software engineer in California make a year? I am planning to become a software engineer in the future and I was just wondering how much they make. I looked around a couple of sites and it ranged from 50k to 80k a year. I'm not sure how much you would really make. If you are a software engineer please tell me how much you make. I was hoping to work for google, if that helps at all.

Answer: I don't know about in Cali but generally right out of undergrad Comp Sci majors generally making about 60k their first year. And it only goes up! You don't really make the big bucks until you have people doing the software engineering for YOU. :)

Question: Can i become a software engineer with a computer science degree? Like I go to the University of Waterloo and am going for a computer science major...and looking to take a software engineering option. However doing it this way doesn't make me a canadian lisenced engineer. Does that mean I can't get a software engineering job?. Answer: Most companies don't care about the PE license. You will have no trouble finding a job as a software engineer with a computer science degree. They will know you have the software engineering option when you add that detail to your resume.

Answer: Depends on the kind of computer job you are doing, but its normally 8-5 or 9-6. If your project involves frequent coordination with clients outside your country to on-site installation/administration then you might have to work odd hours.

Question: What is the average Salary for software engineer in Bahrain? I am software engineer who is working in Chennai, India with 3 years of experience. I have got an offer in Bahrain with monthly salary as $750. Is it a good salary and how much will be monthly expense for me and my wife? Thanks in advance.

Answer: Thats about BD 280 which is very low and you cannot survive on that salary with your wife here. I am not aware of average salary but the cost of living in Bahrain would be high and for 2 people and would be at least BD 500-600 (around US$ 1400-1600) so any thing less than this would mean a very poor quality of life with no savings.
