Answer: Typically the higher the the number the higher the seniority, so if the company has a Project Manager 5 then that would probably be the higher level.

Question: One of the senior manager in US says "Sir"? When I went to US on project assignment one of the IT Manager at senior level from my client's office used to call me "Sir". I say " High John" he responds by saying "Yes Sir". Even when I chat with him in messenger he say "tell me sir" or "thank you sir" etc. What does it mean? Is it ok If I call him by his first name? Is it his habit to say "Sir"? His boss also does the same thing.

Answer: Many people are raised to use "Sir" as a term of politeness and respect. That is probably the reason for it. As for using his first name, that is entirely up to him. Ask.
