Question: How to deal with dishonest Sales Manager within the organization ? I have a sales Manager who undercut his salesmen sales and then divert the sales to his own company. He is driving the company car, stay in the company's house and receive huge amount of salary. What is the best way to deal with greedy and disloyal staff like this ?

Answer: Fire. I know your question is unique in the sense NO ONE has ever faced this situation before. I truly sympathize with your dilemma. By the way do you you know what I mean by fire. It is a little different from the fire we cook our food on.

Answer: If the best you can do is complain about a few spots on the dash board I wouldn't be making a huge issue over him lying. Why didn't you ask them to remove the spots if it just needed to be wiped off? The buyer is responsible for making sure everything is correct before taking delivery of the car. If it wasns't perfect, why did you take delivery.

Answer: You probably won't start as manager-start on the ground floor work like hell, make lots of sales and when the position comes open if they think you will be good for the job. then you have a chance. Start taking college courses soon as you get a job some companies help pay for this.

Answer: The biggest mistakes were 1- putting too high of a value on untested sales people. This was a pet peeve of mine when the sales manager would tell me how great a sales guy was only to have me triple his production. 2- humility regardless of your performance is key. The other sales people will believe that you are getting special treatment even if you are not. 3-Not valuing top talent. Top sales people are tough to replace. They need to be treated that way. 4-Telling sales people how to sell when you can not sell better than them. You have to prove to a sales person that you can sell to earn their respect. Actions speak very loudly to sales people. 5- Not working the hardest. Managers need to be first in and last to leave or they get less respect.

Answer: There are several options. If you, yourself or anyone on your team have the time and penchant to conduct the search, then make a list of companies that provide similar services to yours - ideally based in your geographical area, if you want the Manager based there (if not, it is a lesser concern). Identify, approach and recruit the people who drive the business to the funnel of those companies....etc. And there is alot of etcetera. A suggestion would be to partner with an executive search firm, and have them conduct the search for you in a prioritized manor. Hobson Associates has one of the best reputations for your niche.
