Question: Anybody in heavy duty mechanics or millwright? Im deciding.
Thinking about getting my heavy duty mechanic ticket along with my millwright and if all goes well a third ticket for welding.
Im in Canada but any of these workers do you like your job and is their a good enough demand?
I know the pay is quite nice but is it quite hard?
I know its not an easy clean job.
Answer: It's VERY tough, physically. Was an industrial millwright for 13 years. If you're young, you'll come out with a Marines physique! You probably should look into it because the demand for applicants will be very high! Most young people are shying away from laborious work. The pay scale should increase in proportion to the demand! As long as you don't have to deal with an idiot boss(a toughy) you can write your own ticket! Best to you! ;-)=

Answer: Millwright is the name for a maintenance person in a mill or plant
that repaires machinery. If something was wrong or not working on a machine you would get hold of the millright to make what was wrong right. Thus the name millright or millwright. This was the way it was explained to me 30 years ago when I asked the same question.

Your best bet might be to find a local union and see about getting an apprenticeship in the field.

Question: i have just 6 months experience in millwright and don`t have welding certificate ? where can i find a job? currently i`m unemployed and looking for an oppertunity to work as a millwright.
Answer: As a student in mechanichal engineering i would suggest a machine shop local or something in relation. i would also advise that you take you experience to the next step. technichal scool across america train machinists and also prepare you with welding skills. just because you have experience dosenot neccesarily mean you are certified, get your license and you wont have a problem finding a job. there is a huge expanded world for millwrights and machinests, if your having a hard time finding a job on "yahoo jobs" you should try calling a local machineshop and ask them for there profesional opinion.
i hope this answers the jest of your question
Question: where can I find old millwright sticker? It's sticker you stick to your hardhat
Answer: Contact your local Millwright District Council (Union). They might have some and/or be willing to point you in the (w)right direction.
Question: I need a study guide to take my nccer millwright test, is there one available?
Answer: which prov are you studing for???
i am in nl and have a lot you need to know
Question: can anybody tell me what tools does a apprentice need to become a millwright(specific tools)?
Answer: if you are looking at getting into an apprenticeship, your union should have a list of tools that you will need. most require you to have up to 1 1/4 inch wrenches and sockets. hammers good screwdriver set, allen wrenches, and some crescent wrenches. some basic precision tools like a precision level. and micrometers. at a minimum a one inch micrometer. as an apprentice, you arent expected to have all of them right away. after working a while you will be able to figure out what you need right away. just to start off make sure you have a good set of basic handtools. Its a good trade and the pay is good. Stick with it.
Question: Anyone know of any Millwright or Welding Apprentice's Jobs? Looking for a apprentice welding or millwright job in June
Answer: This isn't the best place to be looking for a job.
Try the government employment office in your area. Also try any of the job sites on the internet.
Write yourself a resume.
Then look in the phone book for businesses that might hire welders. Start calling, start knocking on doors.
If one company says they're not hiring or they want more experience, then ask them if they know anybody else who does welding. This step is especially important. Also ask if you can tell them "X at company Y referred me to you."
NEVER give up.
Good luck!
Question: in the construction industry what is a millwright?
Answer: A millwright today is someone who maintains or constructs industrial machinery such as that which would be related to assembly lines, also pumps, valves, printing presses, etc. Millwrights are usually responsible for the unassembled equipment when it arrives at the job site. Using hoisting and moving equipment they position the pieces that need to be assembled. Their job requires a thorough knowledge of the load bearing capabilities of the equipment they use as well as an understanding of blueprints and technical instructions
Question: what is the definition of a millwright?
Answer: Those in the Millwright union work on heavy machinery, generally stationary. Like the kind of machinery you would find in power plants or manufacturing facilities. Huge motors or generators, shafts no human could lift, piping and valves.
Question: how many levels are there in the millwright union?
Answer: Looks like 3; national, regional and local (see ref.) Contrary to 1st answer, I think unions are essential to the fair functioning of the capitalist system. However, some regulation is essential to prevent corruption and monopolistic behavior. In other words, parasitic union officials shuld be tossed out, and union wages should not be allowed to become disproportionate with other, similar unionized work. How to do this fairly will no doubt be the subject of endless debate.
BTW, why is this question in mathematics?
Question: whats a good site too learn to be a millwright?
