Question: Is there anybody here who is a manufacturing engineer who can help me with my project? I am a freshman in Brooklyn Technical High School (bths.edu) in New York City. I am working on a project based on manufacturing engineering. I was wondering if I could ask a manufacturing engineer a few questions or someone else that you know of about this field and experience in manfacturing engineering. This project is due on Jan. 2nd so if you have time to respond I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you so much.
Answer: if you have msn messenger...... funguy_082@yahoo.com Come, and we'll have a talk.
Question: how can i improve my career in my new position i am a manufacturing engineer? i working in a cable manufacturing plant weproduce aelectric cords, i worked during 3 years like a production supervisor but one month ago my boss move me to the manufacturing departament i ned tips or opinions for begin a god career in my new position job
Answer: Look at the layout and physical aspects of the job and move something into line so that it is either easier or faster to do. this could be as simple as placing a coat hook or drink holder, tool holder or inspection station in the right location for someone doing the work. How is the cord packaged for storage or shipment, find a place that is in direct route for the process, another thought would be to see where traffic congests and see how you can make a way to avoid it.
Question: Whats the difference between a mechanical and a manufacturing engineer? I have been offered a chance at a degree in one of those 2 fields but i am not sure as to which atm is more to my taste.. any help?
Answer: Manufacturing has to do with assembly lines, the process that objects go through vs Mechanical, moving parts, making/designing the machines or devices that make up the assembly line.
Question: Is manufacturing mangement from bits pilani a good option for a graduate civil engineer for his PG degree? iam a gradute civil engineer have 2 more years of experiance as a site engineer . iam looking for a master course in engineering. this manufacturing management is related to civil engineering? is it worth ? after completing this course can i need to change my industry to mechanical side? iam in dubai now is it possible to study this course from bits being in dubai?
Answer: Yes its possible as now BITS has an off campus at Dubai too. Any degree from this institute is good. But as you are from civil side, please make sure from there course is there any thing new for you in Manufacturing Management or you can try MBA from any good institute or while in service choose IGNOU, Delhi.
Question: about what is the average $ a manufacturing engineer degree makes? whats the average salary with a assoc.degree in manufacturing engineer right out of college
Answer: my friend makes 45,000 a year ,
my cousin makes 56,000
its all bout networking
Question: What are the responsibilities of an engineer in manufacturing? anyone know? also what is the manufacturing system?
aNYONE?????????????
Answer: Since you're talking about manufacturing, I assume you're talking about a mechanical engineer. A mechanical engineer isn't necessarily involved with day-to-day manufacturing operations, his primary job is design of manufacturing machinery, as well as product design. Smaller manufacturers don't usually have a mechanical engineer on staff, but big ones do, since manufacturing processes are constantly being revised for greater efficiency, or changed as the product line changes. For example, as new car designs come out, sheet metal forming engineers have to work out proper press die geometries to stamp out car body parts. Or for another example, a mechanical engineer can design a new kind of a drywall, metal, or concrete screw for a manufacturer of screws. Yet another example would be metalworking shop engineers, who have to understand precisely how metal cutting tools work. Finally, as an extreme example, robots are increasingly taking over manufacturing jobs, and robotics would be something that some mechanical engineers would specialize in. So, you could have Company A designing and building robots, requiring robotic engineers, selling them to Company B that uses them, again requiring robotic engineers to know how to use them.
Question: What is the job description of a project engineer in a food manufacturing industry? I am a newly registered electrical engineer, and i saw job vacancy here in my company, presently i am a power plant operator, i am interested to apply for project engineer, how to pass the interview?
Answer: Are they launching a new product? Are they installing a new production line? Are they looking at a new warehouse to bring raw materials to the production facility or maybe they are starting up a new plant in another country.
A project engineer can do all of these things and may do all of the necessary items to control cost, be on schedule, and have the equipment work when it is installed. These are the three basic items needed to be a project engineer. Along with that you need some knowledge of the project that you are in charge of. As a power plant engineer you might have equipment installation in your bag now. The other item is how do you get along with people, do you play well with others.
The big thing is to be honest with your new boss and not waste their time and yours. It is costly to tell the person that you can do things you can not and then have them let you go back to your old job in 6 months.
Question: Is a "manufacturing engineer" really an engineer? How about an industrial engineer?
How about a drafter, or what big companies coin as a "design engineer?
Do they do "real" engineering?
And another thing, why do some people such as big headed civil engineers (not saying that all are big-headed) think that you have to have a PE license to have the official title as an "engineer?"
Answer: A manufacturing engineer is probably actually an industrial engineer. Yes, they are "real" engineers.
Drafters are not necessarily engineers. I worked as a draftsman years ago while getting my degree in civil engineering. These days, engineers generally do their own drafting by computer, although some firms may employ drafters to do the work.
A "design engineer" may be an engineer of any discipline that normally does design work such as buildings, plants, etc. Designing a building would normaaly employ civil engineers to do the structural design, mechanical engineers to design the heating and cooling systems, and electrical engineers to design the power and lighting. Depending on the complexity of the project, many other specialty engineers may also be involved.
I can't speak for all states, but here in Alabama it is a voilation of state code to have the term "engineer" in your business name or to call yourself an "engineer" without a PE. That goes for all branches of engineering, not just civil.
I am a PE, but don't mind someone calling themselves an engineer if they have the degree (does that make me not a big-headed civil engineer??). What I don't like is going to the local mall and seeing the maintenance workers with coveralls that say "Engineer" on them or hotels referring to their maintenance staff as "engineers". (Does that make me big-headed??) Sorry, but I earned a degree over 4 years, passed an 8-hour exam, gained 4 years experience, passed another 8-hour exam, and have to maintain a certain number of continuing education credits every year to be able to call myself a professional engineer, and I don't like the term thrown around loosely by people who don't know what an engineer is.
By the way, a locomotive operator is also an engineer in my book.
