My husband has been a machinist for over 40 years and has seen both up's and down's in that industry.(He went for 4 years to trade school in Hungary starting at age 14.)
It is a hard and difficult job that takes years to learn to master.I am glad to hear of a young person willing to learn such a difficult skill.
Sort of gives me hope for the future. My husband has owned machine shops 3 times in his lfe but they never took off, it is different to be good at your craft and another thing to be a good salesman for yourself.

Question: How did christian bale appear so skinny in "The Machinist" ? He's literally anorexic in "The machinist." It's eerie, like looking at "The scream," only with hair.

Question: what kind of machinist do i want to learn to be? i want to go to a school to learn to be a machinist, I want to learn the shop tools and how to use them all. I found engine machinist training but I think that would only teach me about engine parts. any help from experienced machinists or knowledgeable people is welcome!....I will pick a best answer.
Answer: There are all kinds of machinist. You could be a CNC operator. A steelsmith, you learn to use all the tools in a metal fabrication shop. These include, lathe, saw, press, brake, shear, welding, gigs and fixtures. With learning to run the lathe, you can also turn brake rotors for auto mechanics.
Most machines now days are run by CNC programs and you just have to watch the machine operate and change codes when you change part runs. If you learn to write the programs for the CNC machine and know how to run, then you would be better off. Just my thoughts. Try to find a Technical School or take a shop class at the high school level.
Question: How would one sell renishaw machinist products ? I have about $20,000 worth of Renishaw innovation products but I am not sure who can be a broker for me. Any ideas , brokers or specialist you can give me would be much appreciated .
Answer: what is renishaw products.
Question: How long does it take to become a machinist? How much training is involved in such a profession? How long would it take? How much would it cost?
Answer: To be a "fully qualified" NC/CNC Machinist normally 2 years.
Contact a state technical college in your area to determine tuition.
