Question: Electrical Engineer? What are some different requirements for an Electrical Engineer position? I also need Education requirements and job Responsibilies. This is for a Computer Science powerpoint due in about an hour. So your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.
Answer: I'm not sure I'm following you, are you referring to your own company offering a position for and Electrical Engineer? If so, then usually, education requirements would be a Bachelor degree in the least, possibly Master degree if it is complex work. If the intended position will be responsible for designing power or lighting systems, then you'll want someone that has some design experience under their belt. On the other hand, if your company is starting out low on the pay scale and you already have experienced engineers on hand, then you could make this an entry level position for a recent graduate.
Getting back to the design criteria, if the engineer will be responsible for signing off on designs, then that engineer will need to be a licensed professional engineer within your state. Otherwise, if the engineer will just review drawings as submitted by outside contractors to ensure code compliance, the PE license may not be necessary.

Question: What does an electrical engineer do on an average day? I am intreasted in Electrical Engineering, could somone (preferably an electrical engineer) explain to me in detail what they do on an average day. Thanks alot!
Answer: Regular day in the life of a typical electrical engineer:
1. Wake up.
2. Drink coffee.
3. Go to the office. Sit in a cubicle.
4. Drink coffee. Maybe eat a donut.
5. Scribble some formulas on paper and run some calculations on the computer.
6. Get dragged into meetings with non-engineers...ugh!
7. Drink more coffee.
8. Go home.
If I ever have one of those 'regular' days, I'll probably die or retire.
There are so many things going on that may involve:
Travel
System design calculations
Training others or being trained
Learning how stuff works
Figuring out how your competitor does something, then figuring out a way to do it better
Travel
Meetings...all kinds of meetings. some are even interesting.
Teaching people how something or other works
You may spend time in the field, or in the lab, or maybe your office is a cable spool turned on its side in a petrochemical plant...
You may perfect the art of bouncing a rubber band off the ceiling to land in your colleague's cubicle. Or not...
Basically, there is no 'average day'. Some are more exciting than others, and some may have a routine, but they can all be interesting...if you want them to be.
Question: How much will an electrical engineer like me make? I am fresh out of college, I have a B.S. (bacholor's of science), and I live in southern California. My father is also an electrical engineer working at Northrop Grumman and he makes about $50 an hour. My dad got me a job interview next week. If I am hired about how much will I make an hour?
Answer: new guy w/o experience with a bs.60 per year..........................ask your Dad
Question: How much does an Electrical Engineer make? I'm thinking of completing an Electrical Engineering degree and was wondering what people are making just out of college and those that have been in the field 5+ yrs.
The main careers I am looking at are Design Engineer and Technical Sales Engineering. Any input from people with those jobs would be great!
Answer: In 2002 the median annual earning were $70,480. Source http://www.gettech.org/career_desc.asp?j…
Question: Where can I find and electrical engineer to hire to design a circuit for me? Does anyone know where I can find an electrical engineer that I can hire to design a circuit for me? I'm a mechanical engineering student have an idea of what I need for this project, but it would be a better idea to hire a someone who knows his stuff. I can give a description of my overall objective for this project also.
Answer: go to one of the electrical engineering teachers at your school
Question: Where would you work as a electrical engineer? This is my last year in high school and i was just wondering where do electrical engineer work, how many hours a week do they work? will electrical engineering jobs be in demand within the next 4 years?
Answer: If you intend to pursue and Engineering education towards a degree in electrical engineering, you should understand that while electrical engineers work for many and varied companies - from large to small, they all require a good understanding of electrical engineering principles. You would do yourself a huge favor by attending a well known four year school that has an excellent reputation in the engineering field. The larger companies look first at an applicants Grade Point Average (GPA) then at the reputation of the school that awarded the degree. Do not consider a two year school.
The number of hours worked is, of course, variable. But I doubt you will find many engineers working a mere 40 hour week - 48 hours and up is more typical. In this as in any field, there are periods known as 'crunch' times that will require considerable overtime (usually unpaid or paid at a fraction of the normal salary rate). However, it is a very rewarding field for those with the aptitude and interest.
I wish you well and hope this helps.
Question: What universities are best at teaching science relating to aerospace/electrical engineer? I aspire working for NASA when I grow up (14 years old going into high school) and work as either en electrical or aerospace engineer. More on the electrical engineering side though, but I don't know what universities teach those subjects.
Answer: I don't know the absolute best school but I know of a good one for Aero. Try looking into the University of Texas at Arlington. I also know of a few engineering majors at MIT. You have a while to look into though so you should be okay.
Question: Would it be a waste for an electrical engineer to minor in physiology? I never could decide if I wanted to be a doctor or engineer. After some college, I made a decision to go into electrical engineering. Now I miss studying medical subjects. I don't know if I've made a big mistake. Sometims I feel like I'm wasting years. If I minored in physiology, would this be a total waste in engineering? I mean realistically with the economy and everything.
Answer: I think it is a great idea to expand your background in science. I started out as a physiologist myself, and I wanted to work in medical research. After going through several surgeries and seeing a different side of the medical profession, I thought I had wasted six years of my life studying medical science. Then I decided that I wanted to switch to physical sciences such as engineering.
As it turned out, the medical background has helped me to be diverse in my work, since a great deal of it has involved designs for medical machines. There is a great demand for engineers who have a background in physiology, for instance, having an intense understanding of what is needed in the design of diagnostic imaging or particle therapy. What I'm saying is that if you have the diverse background in science, the more options you will have no matter what the economy. In my opinion, a person with a wider range of study has a better chance of surviving in economical setbacks. The years I spent building a background in a medical career have never been wasted, in other words.
Question: Should I go to a community college first in order to become an electrical engineer? I am 23 years old. I have an associates degree in electrical engineering technology. I have worked as an electronics tech for 3 years and I would like to go back to school in hopes of becoming an electrical engineer.
I am not sure if I can afford to go to a 4 year university and was considering taking community college courses instead. Will this be a waste of my money? What courses should I take?
Answer: It is possible to get an Engineering degree by doing the first two years in community college, but few schools allow this.
A better option for you would be to get an Engineering Technology degree (BSEET) or a degree in Industrial Technology focused on Electronics (BSIT). Many (most?) Engineering Technology and Industrial Technology Schools are set up as 2+2 programs and have agreements with community colleges.
Question: How does an Electrical Engineer use math in there job? I have to do a math project on an Electrical Engineer and i need to know specificly how they use math in there everyday job.
Answer: calculating voltage, resistance, amperage..... etc.
